Jogglers June 2012

Sorry conditions weren't better for your pictures, but glad it was still an enjoyable trip!

I'd still take the location! Where are you again exactly? lol See, I don't even know where you are and I'm agreeing to move! That's how desperate I am to get out of here and start anew!

Probably am going to miss my workout again today. I've been researching raised bed gardening. I so want to grow my own veggies now that I'm into the raw vegan thing so much! I want to go ahead and start this year, but won't be able to grow much since it's so late in the season, but if I start soon, I can still get some cucumbers, squash and maybe some tomatoes!

Hi Jane! Hope you've been enjoying a lovely day!

Good Morning!

Weekend flew by as usual. Saturday was crazy but I managed to get my workout in. I was at the grocery store at 7am but I swear it is the best time to go. Here was my workout. It was EXTREMELY Humid and drizzled a bit.

3 Rounds - 20 slingshots R/L, 20 Russian Swings, 20 American Swings, 20 1-arm swings R/L

3 Rounds - 10 Bicep Curls, 10 Presses, 10 Chest Presses, 10 lying tricep extensions

2 Rounds - 15 Renegade Rows, 15 plank push ups, 15 pike push ups

My biceps and forearms still hurt from that workout. I used a 45 barbell for bicep curls. I think the forearms hurt from the slingshots and 1-arm swings.

Then I was at my mom's for most of Saturday and had to pick my sister up from work late in the evening.

I did manage to get my 8 mile run in on Sunday. They predicted a 70% rain chance but we got drizzle and that was all. It ended up being sunny most of the day.

Today will be a kettlebell workout but I haven't figured out what yet. I will post the workout when I have it figured out.

Alisha ~ I would have loved to go to the horse show. They have one around here but I never go. Hope your DOMS are gone from the hiking. I'm sure yoga helped.

Tricia ~ Nice run with or without the Garmin. I would love to grow my veggies but I don't time right now. Right now I doing fruits - oranges, lemons, blueberries and pomegranates. Although the only good crop I get is from the oranges. I only have 1 lemon this year but it is suppose to be ever-bearing so hopefully we will get more. It is still young though. I had 2 blooms on my pomegranate but no fruit yet. It is still young too so maybe it takes a couple of years.

Well..back to work.

This morning I'm going for a hike and then I'm doing a 30 minute belly dance DVD. I sure could go for some salmon today. Can you tell, I'm hungry already.:p Tomorrow is Low Max and some yoga.

Tricia- I live in the foothills close to El Dorado Hills and Folsom. I live in Rescue, CA. We don't even have a grocery store, I have to drive 5 miles to get to one. I live here

Jane- That looks like a great workout. I love kettlebells. The yoga did help with my doms. I prefer to go to the grocery store early, to beat the crowds.

Alisha

Here is my workout for tonight.

Workout #1:
Clean and Press 1:00 minute right / 1:00 minute left / 1 :00 minute Rest / Repeat 4 times
Workout #2:
Work 25 sec / Rest 15 sec / 3 Sets / Alternating Exercises
1- Swing / Single- Leg Deadlifts
2- Push Press / Thruster
3- Chest Presses / Push Ups
4- Squats / Back Rows
5- Seated Half Moons / Russian Twist

Alisha ~ It sounds like you live in a lovely place.

Evening ladies!

Monday is over! Yay! I hate Mondays.

Alisha - That is a beautiful place, but I don't know if I could handle being quite that far from anything! I'm spoiled here where, if I wanted to, I could bike to just about every place I need to go. The only problem is getting all the groceries home! Also, I hate sitting at the office at lunch because we don't have a break room and, even if we did, I'd still get interrupted every five minutes.

Hope you got your salmon!

Jane - Fabulous workouts as usual! From what I understand, fruit trees and berry bushes take a few years to really start producing lots of fruit. I'd love to be able to do that! Maybe in my next house!

When I started my run tonight, my Garmin picked up where it left off when it died on Friday. Go figure. It took me a couple of minutes to clear it. I had charged my Garmin this morning and took it off the charger at lunch. I got just over 35 minutes in, 3.14 miles 4 5-minutes intervals with 2-2:30 minute walk breaks and one short run back to the car at the office. I got home and downloaded my workout and my Garmin said my battery was dead again already! I wonder if I need a new batter? I've had it since just before the MCM in 2010.

Sigh. I hate to be without it, but I think you have to send them in for batteries. The only downfall of this lovely and addictive device!

Tomorrow I'm picking up with STS again. Gotta stay focused.

Have a good night you two!

I missed last night's yoga. Today is Low Max. I'm all dressed up and ready to go. This evening will be Gary Bromley Yoga. Tomorrow will be a rest day. I have a seminar on 'People Skills'.

Tricia-I hate it when batteries die like that!! Gah!!! Good job on your workout.

Jane-That is a great workout!! I do live in a lovely place, but we just got a notice telling us that they are building high density housing in the field where the cattle used to graze:( My Dad is probably going to want to move but we don't have the money to do it.

Alisha

I am taking a rest day today.

Tricia ~ It sounds like you need a new battery. Good job on the run.

Alisha ~ Sorry about the building going up. That is horrible. I live in a somewhat rural area. The town I live is has about 19,000 people and the County has about 45,000 but we have a nice downtown area and a number of grocery stores and restaurants. It is a growing area. Enjoy your seminar.

Hi ladies!

I'm slacking tonight. Crappy weather and just didn't feel like a wet run today. I also had junk for dinner. Shame on me. Oh, well, tomorrow's another day!

Alisha - Hope you had good workouts yesterday! Stinks that your nice, quiet area is about to be invaded. Hate that!

Jane - Was your rest day nice? I hope so!

Not sure what happened with my Garmin, but I charged it all day yesterday, unplugged it and let it sit all night. It hardly had lost any charge. I'm guessing maybe it kept cycling through connecting with the HR strap and/or searching for satellites. I don't really know, but it seems fine now. We shall know for sure tomorrow when I run again.

I got the GymBoss from my friend today! Now, I need to figure out how to set it so I can use it tomorrow!

Have a great night! I'm glad the week is halfway over! As usual, I'm looking forward to the weekend!

Today is a combination of Slide n' Glide and 20 min. of Hi/Lo from Kathy Smith. I need that little extra calorie burn. I'm feeling tired right now. This evening I will do some yoga. Its been hot. Tomorrow will be a jog/walk + yoga. We expect it to be above 100 deg. F. on Saturday so I want to be sure I get my outdoor workouts sooner than later.

My Dad is feeling better. My brother is feeling better. The cat is looking a little skinny, I'm hoping its just because its summer. She plumps up in the fall.

I plan to spend the day studying. In the afternoon I will go into town to pick my Mom up from work.

Tricia- Shame never did anybody a bit of good. If you remember to smile the whole time you are eating your treat foods, then you will feed your soul too and will get full sooner than if you berate yourself the whole time. Love yourself, its good for you.:) That gymboss sounds like fun. This reminds me, I need to charge my Garmin.

Jane-Enjoy your rest day.

TGIF!!

I missed a couple of days.

Wednesday - 4 mile run

Yesterday I did 4 rounds of: 400m run, 15 Military Presses, 25 Swings. Then my sister and I did farmer's walk around the block twice (approx. 1.2 miles) with 2-18# kettlebells. We carried them until we couldn't anymore and the other took over. We each carried the bells a total of 3 times.

Today will be a rest day as I have a 5K race in the morning down in Monticello, FL. This is my 5th time doing this race and it's a tough one. There are at least 3 hills and the last one is running up to the finish line.

Tricia ~ Let me know if you have any questions on the Gymboss.

Alisha ~ I'm glad everyone is feeling better now. Enjoy your jog and yoga today.

Morning ladies!

I missed posting a couple of days, too! Not much to report.

Alisha - Glad everyone is healing and getting better now! I can't believe you guys have 100 deg. weather! We're still pretty mild - nice and cool at night and high 60s to mid 70s during the day.

You're right about shame, but years of Catholic guilt and shame is hard to shake! You use it for everything! I will keep your words close though! Thank you!

Jane - You've probably already left for your race, but good luck! I'm thinking of you and cheering you on from a distance!

After a few runs with the instructions for the GymBoss, I got it. The only thing different about mine is that I dont have that second Auto option to set a specific number of rounds. That's okay. I'm happy to have something that works!

We went to a RISD (RI School of Design) thingy last night, so I missed my workout. It was graphic artists and people like that displaying and selling their work. I was disappointed that most of it was just drawings and mainly for young children or anime-looking stuff. There were a few really talented people there, but we couldn't stay long. It was set up like a flea market with end to end tables, really crowded and loud and hard to move around. Ugh. I hate that. I think we stayed about 15 minutes. We were going to get cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory - yes, we almost blew it, but instead we decided on dinner at Panera which is easy to keep clean, then came home.

It's a beautiful day already today with the temps getting to the high 60s or low 70s. Maybe golf . . .

Have a wonderful weekend!

I swear I posted yesterday.

I enjoyed yesterday's jog/Solar yoga. Its super hot today. I'm staying inside. I am going to do Shred it with Weights (kettlebells) and Athletic Step. I haven't done that in forever, I hope I remember the choreography. I plan to get Lunar yoga before bed tonight. Tomorrow will be jog/walk + Shiva Rae yoga.

Tricia- Its tough to give up old habits, shame is a doozie! I like Panera too.

Jane- Great job on your workouts. How was the race?

Alisha

Happy Monday!

The race went well on Saturday sort of. I had a sore throat on Friday, did not sleep well on Friday night (I only got 3 hours of sleep) but managed to run the race. It was so unbelievably cool that I knew I could have killed that race if I felt better. I was only a couple of seconds off my pace from last year but I could have set a course PR if I felt better. I think I was wheezing at one point. Anyway...there is always next year.

On Sunday I did a leg workout instead of running. Six rounds of 10 reps each of back squats, Zercher squats, thrusters and sumo squats.

I didn't do much this week because I was feeling 100%, just stayed home and did little things around the house.

I'm not sure if I am working out tonight. I didn't sleep well last night and I'm still dealing with some drainage and coughing so we'll see.

Alisha - your workouts sound great!

Hi Tricia!

I took the last two days for rest. I've had some yucky green stuff in my nose and I was too sore from my kettlebell workout. Today is Cardio Supersets. This evening will be Lunar yoga. Tomorrow will be a jog/walk and Solar yoga.

Jane- I'm so sorry that you weren't feeling well. Great job on your race anyway!!!

Tricia- How is Peanut? Have you been staying raw? Had a good workout today?

Alisha

I took Monday as a rest day but I did the following workout last night. I set the timer for 30 minutes and off I went. It was really a cardio intensive workout. I actually went longer than 30 minutes because of the farmer's walk down the street at the end. I got some nice blisters.

Complete a stationary exercise and then do a moving exercise for 10 or 20 yards. When you get to the other end, complete the exercise again and return to your starting position again with the moving exercise. Then continue on to the next pair of exercises. I used 2-18# kettlebells.

10 Swings and 10 yards of walking presses

10 Rows and 10 yards of Farmer's Walk
10 Cleans and 10 yards of overhead walks

I did one set of the above followed by 10 kb pullover sit ups, 10 kb crunches and 10 kb sit up and presses. I did this sequence 3 times.

Then - weighted walking lunges up and down the driveway - then did farmers walk with 2-18# bells down the street and back 2 times.

I am feeling better but still dealing with coughing and a runny nose. Last night I almost hacked up a lung. I need to get some cough medicine. I eventually fell asleep it took me a while because I kept coughing.

Tonight I'm going for a run although it may be more of a walk/run, we'll see.

Alisha - I hope you're feeling better today. You gotta love those kettlebells...great DOMS!

Hi Tricia!

I'm down a couple of pounds

Yesterday went totally sideways. My Dad/I had to go out to Chico to put in an estimate on a small job. I got up early and did a yoga session, then last night I did 5 miles. This morning I did the new LIC. I need to add risers, I only got a 380 cal. burn, and well, thats annoying after 50 minutes of work. I plan to do some yoga this afternoon. Today may also be up in the air. We might go to town, but if not I will spend the day studying. Tomorrow should be a joggle but we shall see.

Jane- Take care of yourself. You might want to take an extra rest day while you are coughing so much. I hope you feel better soon.

Tricia- Hi!!

Alisha

Here's my workout for tonight. The weather has been really pleasant. Although it's warm it has been breezy and the humidity has been under 50%.

5 Rounds
10 pull ups
10 push ups
4 Rounds
20 Weighted Squats
20 Sit ups
20 Ball Slams
3 Rounds
25 Halos
400m Run

Alisha ~ Congratulations on the weight loss!! That is great! I do fine during the day but the coughing gets me when I go to bed so I need to sleep on an incline. I have hardly coughed today but I'm still a little congested but no runny nose or anything else.

Hi Tricia!

TGIF!

I am doing a leg workout tonight...probably the the 10 reps of back squats, zercher squats, thrusters and sumo for 7 rounds or so and then maybe some calf work as well.

Hope is all is well with you guys.

I took yesterday as a rest day. This morning I'm doing a mish mosh with Shred it with Weights and Cathe's MMA Boxing (just the drills). Tomorrow will be some road work and yoga. Its oddly cool and gray out here. Its only going to be 75 deg. today. This is so weird.

Jane-I love sumos they crack me up.

Tricia- Just because you might not be doing a workout does not mean you have to be silent <chirp chirp chirp>

Alisha

I have really been remiss!

Sorry! Let's see . . . we've had temps in the 90s and even hit 100 on Thursday! No outdoor workouts and very minimal movement indoors. Pushups, crunches, lunges until I was just too hot to continue. So, nothing significant. We'll be back down in the 70s next week! Yay!

My seeds arrive today, so I will be busily planting either later today, if we don't get thunderstorms again, or tomorrow.

We're playing golf tomorrow! So glad! I didn't get to last weekend because of Father's Day. All the guys were out and there was at least an hour wait everywhere. :(:(

So, that's been my week. Staying mostly raw, but because I haven't been burning the cals lately, I've not noticed any weight change. I'll get there!

Everyone has been sick! I could have used the excuse that I was staying away so I didn't catch all your gunk! lol :p

It's just more difficult to respond on the iPad. I lose too many posts that way, then I just get frustrated and don't move to the computer room to do it.

Sorry the two of you have been sick, but I'm glad to see you're both getting better!

Alisha - Congrats on losing 2 lbs.! That's awesome!

Jane - I hate getting a cough. Why is it the hardest thing to get rid of?

Had a bad bout of sudden depression the other night. Just laid down and cried and moped. It was weird, but I couldn't shake it. The next morning, I was fine. I'm wondering about menopause? I've also had some breakthrough bleeding this month which I've never had before. I see my GYN next month, so I'll ask her. Usually, when I get depressed, it's directly related to something, but this just hit and had nothing to do with anything.

Oh, well, that's about it for me. Maybe the gardening will be a bit therapeutic for me and give me something to focus on that will help me not think about counting down the years, months, weeks and days until I can quit this stupid job and Stephen starts working and I can get out of this horrible neighborhood . . .

Have a great weekend! Love you guys!
