I'm back at my old antics. I have done stretch max two days in a row. My arm is responding favorably. My chiropractor said that it was my right leg that was the problem and that my right arm was trying to compensate for the leg, but couldn't. He said that the body wants to do what we tell it, even when it can't.

I've put away Mt. Saint Laundry, it was huge:eek: I have cleared my desk, got my computer all set up for tax season. Data entry here I come.

Kitty doesn't want to eat wet food now. She wants dry food even though she has no teeth. :p But, other than that, she seems ok, has more energy. I will probably take her back to see the Vet just to be sure that everything is ok.

Tricia- I'm sorry about the water heater. I wouldn't do a super cold shower either. Don't workout until you can have a shower, its not good for your skin.

Jane- How was the race yesterday?

Alisha

Happy February!

I can start getting a little happy now that January is over!

Alisha - Glad your arm is responding well. Hope it keeps getting better! Good idea to take kitty back to the vet just to be sure.

Well, I did do legs yesterday, then took a very quick shower! Wow! That was REALLY cold! It's only yoga today, so I'm just going to do a sponge bath today and tomorrow. My hair should be fine for a couple of more days. I have some dry shampoo if I feel it needs it in the morning tomorrow. At least it's warmed up for a few days! Stephen put the thermostat up to 72 for me yesterday before I got in the shower, so I could warm up fast afterwards. That was nice!

Hi Jane! Hope you had a good race yesterday!

Welcome to February!

We are having a nice warm day so outside workout it is. We will probably do a circuit doing upper body and cardio movements.

My race went well on Saturday. Can you believe there was still ice on the bridge from the storm last week? A bit surreal to see ice in Florida. In any case, it isn't called the Double Bridge Run for nothing. Two Bridges and 2 steep climbs up. The first one wasn't so bad but the 2nd one was at mile 7 and it was tough. I ran with my sister most of the way which was unusual but I could tell my cardio just wasn't there yet. I did managed to beat her by 7 seconds. She set a PR but I didn't. Still it was fun and the weather was nice.

Tricia ~ Hope you get your hot water heater fixed. I hate cold showers.

Alisha ~ I'm glad you are able to workout again. I tackled Mt. Saint Laundry yesterday.

I walked 3 miles yesterday. I need to do some stretching today. I will walk again tomorrow.

Jane- I'm glad that you enjoyed your race, I'm sorry that your cardio fitness isn't where you would like it.

Tricia- I hope the hot water is back on today.

Alisha

Yesterday I took a rest day. Today will be a 3.5 mile run. The weather has been beautiful. Yesterday it was sunny and 80. Today it's suppose to be 71 so different from last week.

My sister is coming in from Illinois tomorrow to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday on Friday. I'm not sure when I'm going to get a workout in. Tomorrow is out but I might be able to fit something in on Friday, hopefully.

Alisha ~ I lost my cardio when my ankle was healing. I'll get it back, hopefully in time for my half marathon on March 1.

Hi Tricia.

I plan to go for a hike and then do stretch max afterwards..

Jane- Holy cow, 80 deg?? Break out the shorts!

Tricia- Hows it going?

Alisha

Hi ladies!

Happy weekend!

Jane - Glad you and sis had a good race! It's tough losing speed and endurance after an injury! I expect you'll get it back quickly with as much as you run! Hope your mom had a lovely 80th birthday!

Alisha - Glad you're able to get out and get some walking in! How is everything going?

We did get our water heater fixed on Monday! Ah! what a relief! I have successfully completed Week 2 of STS! Yay! I hate leg days! It hurts so much and my endurance isn't up, so leg workouts are completely brutal, especially STS! I have to take breaks so my HR can come down. I'm not finishing all the reps either. 15 doesn't seem like much until you're breathing like your lungs are shrinking! Ugh! I know it will get better. I'll just keep pushing through it. I'm just glad that I'm finally on a roll!

Can you believe I'm actually starting to enjoy my yoga? I'm doing it every Sunday. Can't wait for our yoga site to be up! I'm actually excited about it now! Woo!

Have a fabulous weekend ladies!

Happy Monday!

I'm at work already. I had to take my sister to the airport this morning. We had a great visit.

I didn't workout on Thursday.

We did this workout on Friday to honor mom' birthday.
80 weighted squats
80 jump squats
80 walking lunges
80 sit ups
80 push ups
80 swings
80 ball slams
80 bridges

Then on Saturday we walked 91 minutes (a little over 4 miles) in honor of what would have been by dad's 91st birthday.

Yesterday I ran 11 miles and worked in mom's yard for a while.

Today will be a rest day. I'm exhausted. I have to make it till 5pm.

Tricia ~ I'm glad your water heater is fixed. Good job on the yoga. Keep up the good work on your workouts.

Alisha ~ What did you do this weekend?

Took a rest day. Did 3 miles yesterday. Super busy with work and studying for my exam in June.

Jane-The 91 minute walk was a really nice way to remember your dad.

Tricia- So glad that your water heater is working!!!!

Alisha

Good Morning!

Here is last night's workout. I feeling it already.

2 Rounds
20 Bicep Curls
20 Tricep Kickbacks
20 Sit ups
20 Kettlebell Upright Row
20 Chest Presses
20 Pullover sit ups
20 hammer curls
20 shoulder presses
20 Russian Twists

Tonight is suppose to be a 3.5 mile run but it is suppose to rain all day so I will probably do something inside but I haven't figured it out yet.

Alisha ~ Study hard but not too hard. Hope you get a workout in today.

Hi Tricia.

Went for a hike and did stretch max yesterday. I'm thinking that I might do belly dancing today.

I feel like I have some sort of virus. My glands under my chin are swollen and my throat is kind of yucky. I'm slurping airborne and chilling.

Jane- I saw the weather reports about the ice/snow storm expected over the next week. Is it going to hit your neck of the woods?

Tricia- I saw on FB that you have been working out. Good job!

Alisha

Hi Alisha,

Nope on the ice storm. We are too far south this time. We have rain but that's all. The temperature is in the 40's and tonight will be around 34 but by then the rain will have stopped. It pretty much has stopped here already and the ground is so warm I can't imagine any icing will occur this way.

We'll be in the 50's tomorrow, the 60's on Friday and Saturday and then the 70's all next week. YIPPEE!!

I hope you feel better soon!

Workout updates:

Wednesday it rained so I did a workout inside 100 reps of push ups, squats, elephants and lateral jumps.

Yesterday was a 3.5 mile run.

Today is a rest day as I am doing a 5K in the morning.

TGIF!

Good heavens! I can't believe a whole week has gone by and I haven't been by to check in!

Sorry about that!

Been keeping up with STS - woo! I'll start week 4 on Monday. Have been having issues wtih my left side though. My knot in my back has linked to what I think is an impingement in my left shoulder, so now, when I hurt, it hurts from the shoulder down the outside of my bicep to my elbow which will throb and from my knot up my neck into the shoulder. It's getting worse rather than better, so it's off to the doc I go! I had hoped it would clear on it's own, but, obviously, the impingement is pulling on everything. Still not really losing any weight, but, at least, I'm getting my strength back! Not doing much cardio or core, but I'm stretching and keeping up with the one day a week yoga.

Jane - Glad you didn't get the ice storm! That stuff is brutal and very dangerous!

Alisha - How are you feeling? I hope you are getting better or already recovering! I haven't been spending that much time on the computer lately. I do my workouts, post them and check in at my challenge groups and that's about it. Good job on getting some hiking in and a few workouts!

We are getting slammed with more snow today and tonight. 6-10" is what they are saying. So glad I don't have to go to work until Tuesday! I'm so sick of snow! We got hit 3 times with it last week and here we are again! Is it spring yet?

I'm going to try to make a better point of getting here more often!

Had a stressful day at work yesterday! We finally had some closings and a few of them had some weird stuff going on. One was a first and second mortgage and we thought the bank was going to fund $37,000 for the second. When the first mortgage money hit our account, I disbursed the file, having forgotten I was still waiting for the second mortgage funds. After lunch the money still hadn't hit, so the attorney called the bank and they said it wasn't supposed to have a draw on it. I was panicking! I had to tell my boss I disbursed a file short $37K. He was okay since the closing attorney was trying to get it from the borrower. Thank goodness (this time) for a well-off cient! He wired the funds in and I was okay. Whew! I was sweating that one! That incident has made me change the way I mark my files when I'm pending funds! I can do without THAT kind of excitement!

Have a great weekend you two! I'm going to be hibernating all weekend long! I'm glad Monday is a holiday!

Happy Presidents' Day. I am off work today but I've been up since my regular time doing stuff around the house. I have so few hours during the weekend to do chores that I'm playing catch up today. I have to take my mom to PT at 12:30 and then I'm coming home and crashing.

The race on Saturday was ho-hum. It had a race start at 10am which is later than most races but I got to sleep in a bit. Unfortunately they were slow and the actual 5K did not start until after 10:30 which by that time was I cranky and hungry. The course was nice and flat with 2 loops. I knew I was not going to have my best time and I didn't but oh well it's done. I placed 4th in my age group out of 7 and missed a trophy. Last year they didn't have anyone in my age group.

Yesterday was a 11 mile run. I have a 1/2 marathon on March 1.

Today will be some kind of workout but not sure what. I think I'm not doing any heavy leg work until after the 1/2.

Tricia ~ I'm glad you have today off as well. I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder/arm pain. Hope the doc can find out what's wrong and that it isn't serious. Good job on the workouts.

Sorry about the stressful day at work. At least it worked out at the end.

Hi Alisha - How was your weekend?

Mom was sick over the weekend so I spent most of it watching her, she was having neurological symptoms like when I was a kid and she had her retrovirus (similar to MS). She is doing better now. I think she has been on the stomach medicine for too long and is running out of whatever its repressing in her body. She goes in for surgery tomorrow.

I also have to deal with Kaiser because they sent me a bill stating that I owe them two months of pay, but I cancelled my membership premium last month and they had cashed the check from the month before. I have to go up to Medi-Cal to fight this. Fun times at the welfare office:roll eyes: Can't do it until tomorrow due to the holiday.

Its ttotm and I haven't exercised in a few days. I still look like a chipmunk. And before y'all say a thing about doctors, the last time I went in with swollen glands do you know what they said? drink water.

Cause, yeah, I don't drink water already:roll eyes: I have been investigating lymph draining massage and I'm using my neti pot and I'm doing oil pulling and I'm taking echinacea/goldenseal.

Spring has sprung around here. But, we did get some rain over the weekend :D After last fire season, I'm not looking forward to this next fire season. My throat is all tore up from the Rim fire and it opened the door for all my illness over the fall/winter.

I plan to do a workout today. Probably a video indoors. I won't exercise tomorrow (Mom needs me.) but I will exercise on Wednesday.

Jane- I'm sorry the race wasn't as much fun. I hate running hungry.

Tricia- Its spring at my house, I got a pair of squirrels mating! They just didn't care who watched! I'm sorry that you had that kind of excitement at work. Well done on STS. I'm sorry your arm/neck aren't feeling good. It may be time to see the chiropractor again or a massage therapist. I hope you feel better soon.

Alisha

Happy Monday! It's only happy because I'm off! lol

Jane - Sorry about the crummy race. I guess those happen sometimes. Hopefully, the half will be much better! Hope PT went well for your mom and she's still improving!

Alisha - Sorry about your mom being sick. I will be thinking of her tomorrow and sending lots of healing energy after her surgery. I hope you can fend off the swollen glands! I hate when doctors say crap like that! It's like, "Do you not listen to me?" They can be very frustrating. I'm sure all the smoke and debris from all the fires last year has not helped at all!

Funny about your mating squirrels! Glad you are getting spring-like weather! We're still a couple of months and probably a few more snow storms away! Ugh.

I have seriously enjoyed my long weekend! Sadly, this is the last one until May.

I'm still losing and gaining the same 5 lbs. Sigh. It's so frustrating. I will figure it out eventually. Just going to keep plugging away with STS and, when that's done, stay on a good heavy weights routine and get back to running. I"m hoping the running will help me start to shed the weight. As long as the strength training helps to reduce my clothing size (they all say it does), I'm not going to worry as much about the weight - so I say. We shall see!

Have a great day!

Happy Hump Day!

I did not workout on Monday. I took a rest day. I was so tired.

Here is the workout I did last night. This one was a smoker. I’ve been missing these for a while since my sprained ankle and the weather. I can tell my cardio has been lacking on my races. These workouts do so much for cardio and strength.

Max # of rounds in 30 Minutes
I did 5 Rounds
120 Jump Ropes
10 Ball Clean and Over the Shoulder Tosses w/30# ball
15 Presses
20 Planks (knees to elbows) 10R/10L
15 Heavy Swings w/44# kettlebell
10 Weighted Squats

Tonight will be a 3.5 mile run

Alisha – Sending healing and positive vibes for your mom’s surgery today. Hope all goes well.

They do lots of controlled burning around here and it is always smoky this time of year. Of course control burning is a good thing but not possible in big areas by you. It is a necessary evil and lots of people complain about it but it keeps the risk of fires down and helps the land.

I saw 2 bunnies chasing each other last night. I have seen mating turtles, cats and ladybugs in my yard at various times of the year.

Tricia – I try not to worry about the scale. When I slept over at my mom’s house a couple of weeks ago, I found out that she only weights 3 pounds more than me and about 12 pounds less than my sister but if you compared the 3 of us, you would say mom weighed much more because she is mostly fat (sad but true) and my sister and I have more muscle. I would say that my diet is really, really good right now and I feel like I have lost some weight but I can’t weigh myself because I don’t have a scale. I have to check at mom’s house. I would say that it is a combination of diet (90%) and workouts that combine both strength and cardio like the one last night. Of course running is good too.

Oh and my sister’s co-worker is doing the Donna ½ (for breast cancer) in Jacksonville this weekend and won the opportunity to run a 1 mile or so with Joan Benoit (the gold medalist in the marathon at the 1980 Olympics). I am so jealous. She did not know who she was. Jean’s co-worker said that she is motivated by Jean’s weight loss and has started to walk and now run and has lost over 20 pounds. I think we are all going to do the Donna Marathon next year but as a relay with 2 other people. I think 3 people run 6 miles or so and the other 2 run a bit over 3 miles.

Jane - Yeah, I've read a lot about how strength training can be just as good for changing size without changing weight that much. I'm going to keep at it and just focus on getting my diet back under control.

How cool that your sister's co-worker has been inspired and gets to run with Joan Benoit!

Have to say that I don't miss the controlled burns! They don't do any of that up here either, but I don't ever recall having had a fire up here either since we moved here.

Alisha - I hope you mom's surgery went well!

Started Week 4 of STS today - finally! I see the PT tomorrow morning for the eval. We shall see. I really hope PT takes care of it! I did all of my chest, shoulders and biceps workout tonight except for the barbell OH presses. Those are the worst on my shoulder. Even the pushups didn't bother it much. Go figure. Not sure what's going on. Doc said she thinks it might be tendonitis in my rotator cuff. I'd rather have that than an injury, I guess.

I'll keep you posted! Have a great night you two! We finally are warming up and got some rain today. We should hit the 50s for a couple of days Friday and Saturday. Hope we just don't get any more snow! Fingers crossed!

Mom's surgery was ok. We weren't thrilled with the doctor because they didn't come out after the procedure to talk to us about post op care. Apparently they think her stomach looks ok now. She is up and about, doing fine.

I did Basic step yesterday. I plan to do Hi/Lo this afternoon with Kathy Smith. I will go for a hike tomorrow. I tried a different dish at my favorite asian place, and I put on 5 lbs. So, no more of that. I'm hoping its water weight. I threw a fever last night and had weird bad dreams. So scary!:( I kept thinking in the dream that I was hearing someone say that I should kill myself (I'm not suicidal.) and I kept arguing, 'I don't want to do that!'. Nothing like a fever to make for weird dreams.

Tricia- Tendonitis is a gift that keeps on giving, and don't kid yourself, it is an injury. I hope the PT is able to help you. I hope you don't get anymore snow.
Good job with STS!!! Thats a tough series.

Jane- Well done on that tough workout. Controlled burns are ok, I can cope with that, its the wildfires that are horrendous. Last year one of the fires was a tire plant, and that was awful. I get terrible headaches from burnt plastic.
