Jogglers Feb. 2012

I did a short step workout this morning Buns of Steel 6. Its on VHS. Any who. I'm going to do some yoga this evening. I hope to gently ramp up my workouts this week. I'm focusing on eating as clean as possible.

Alisha

I'm sorry I haven't been around lately. This has been a busy weekend.

Let's see, Friday I did a kettlebell workout with some running mixed in. Saturday was a rest day. I spent most the day shopping and running errands. I stopped and 2 bookstores (both used) and got 9 books. Today I went for a 10 mile run in very cold temperatures. It was 27 (20 wind chill) this morning. I can't believe I ran in the cold temperatures. It was horrible and I hope this is the last cold spell for this year. We'll be in the 20's again tonight and then tomorrow night back in the 40's.

Tricia ~ Give Peanut a hug and kiss for me. I'm glad you are getting some answers. I'm sorry about your finger. I stay away from those things. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

Alisha ~ I'm glad your back is feeling better. If I ever did an ebook of workouts, I would give you a free copy.

Hope everyone has a great evening.

Workout interruptus

Last night I did an hour of yoga. It was great. I love that. It really helps my back.

This morning, I was up, dressed, and stepping, then my Dad walked in and said "you need to call your mother." Normally, he wouldn't do that. So I took the phone and called her right away, thinking, "Omg!" But, it just turned out she has misplaced a bag that had some papers in it, and was hoping it was here. I looked all over the house, the cars, and even under the cat, no papers. Of course, by then I was ravenous, so I had to eat something which now post poned my workout till later in the day. Thats ok. But, you know, I really can't eat and then workout right away (not yet as cool as Jane:cool:)

So, I spent the morning grocery shopping (lots of veggies, chicken, and fruit.) My new workout DVDs arrived, I got Butts/Guts (I'm so scared of that one.) Jillian Michael's Shred it with KBs, Kathy Smith's Kettlebell Solution, and Shiva Rea's Yoga for Women. I also replaced that Desi yoga dvd that I lost. That was the impetus for ordering, because I really like Desi Bartlett's disc. It says 'beginners' but thats bogus. Its not really for beginners. If thats beginners, I wonder what her 'intermediate' or advanced dvds are like:eek:

I'm going to spend the rest of the day doing data entry. I plan to do Cathe's LIC from LIS 36 min. premix and the lunar 25 min. yoga segment with Desi. Tomorrow will be a hike/walk plus stretch Max with the band.

Jane- Thanks! I would love a copy!

Tricia- I hope that Peanut is ok today. I hope that Stephen (spl?) is making you go out for runs. I hope that your raw diet is giving you the results that you are looking for, increased vitality, lean body, plenty of energy, and a happy spirit.

Alisha

Hi Chicklets,

I missed posting for a couple of days. Yesterday was a rest day. Today is a run and this was Monday's workout.

4 Rounds – 15 reps each
Swings
SDLHP
Clean and Press (2 kbs)
KB Squats
Halos
Then
1 minute weighted sit ups
1 minute planks
1 minute Russian Twists

It was been really dreary here lately but at least it is warmer. I'm moving up my run from tomorrow to today because tomorrow it's 80% chance to rain. Then rain Friday and Saturday. I have a 12K race planned on Saturday morning so hopefully the rain will stop for the race. It's in a wooden area so there is no way I'll be running if there is lightening around. We'll have to wait and see.

Eats have been good lately. I'm still sticking to my 1 cheat meal and week and that really helps. I was able to wear my black jeans last Friday to work. I stopped wearing them last summer because they were too tight and uncomfortable but now they are comfortable and a little loose too! I wish I know what I was doing but I think all the stress weight is leaving me. Yay!!

Alisha ~ I'm so glad that your back is feeling better and that you stocked up lots of fruits, veggies and good protein!!! :) If I ever do that ebook, you will get the first copy. Actually I have them all in a binder but it would be nice to have them arranged in some sort of order...like upper body, lower body, cardio, strength, etc. Hmmm...now you got me thinking.

Let us know how you like the workouts that you got. That is always fun.

Hi Tricia...hope you are doing well.

Please pray for no rain on Saturday morning so I can do my race.

I had some IBS in the night so I didn't feel like hiking this morning. (I didn't want to be too far from the restroom:eek:). I'm leaning towards the cardio drills on MMA boxing and then a yoga session. I will be spending the day on data entry and packing for my trip on Friday. I will be leaving early on Friday morning for LA. I am going to Harry Potter Camp at Whimsic Alley on Wilshire Blvd. I am a little nervous about the trip. I looked on the hotel website and they say that they have DVD players in the rooms, so that should mean an opportunity to try out Travel Fit.

Jane- I am praying that it is dry enough to run! I am liking the new workouts. Congrats on the weight loss!!! All weight counts, even if it is stress weight.

Tricia- I hope that Peanut is ok.

Alisha

Hi ladies! So sorry about my absence. Between worrying about Peanut, errands at night, the WKC Dog Show and just me being forgetful, I've missed posting a few days!

Alisha - Exciting about your new workouts! B&G is intense, but a great workout! I would buy a copy of Jane's book too! The dog show was great, but the Pekinese won (ugh). I just don't like those dogs. Oh well, there's always next year!

Sorry about the IBS. That's just miserable! Hope your 100% for your trip! Have fun!

Jane - I'll be doing my sun dance for you! What kinds of books did you find at the bookstore?

Finally got Peanut's last lab results back yesterday! We were supposed to get them on Monday, but all of a sudden, they were behind. She's definitely got low thyroid, so we're trying her on a trial of Soloxine for it and, hopefully, she will improve on it and the nerve damage will reverse itself and she'll get her sight back or at least some of it! I really hope so! There's still the possibility she may need to go to the neurologist, but I hope not!

I haven't worked out even though every day I have had all good intentions to do it.

Hope you have a great day today!

soon to be out of the office

I didn't get around to doing yoga last night. I paid for it, this morning my back hurt. So, I did some yoga this morning. I plan to do a Cathe step workout this afternoon. Tomorrow will be a rest day, I will be driving down to LA. It takes about 6 hours to drive.

I may be MIA for the next 4 days. I will be in LA. I won't be taking my computer. I will be driving home on Monday. Then, I start my new job on Tuesday. I'm thinking the earliest I might post again is going to be Tuesday.

Here is my rotation for the next few days, bound to change!:p

Today: Step Moves
Friday: Yoga Today (5 am)
Saturday: MMA Boxing (5 am)
Sunday: Hula DVD (5 am)
Monday: Travel Fit (6 am)
Tuesday: LIC from LIS series plus Yoga w/Desi Bartlett

Tricia- I hope that Peanut starts feeling better soon.

Jane-How is the weather? I hope your race is ok.

Alisha

ALISHA----WHAT IS THIS ABOUT A NEW JOB??? Is this the job at the nursery? Did I miss something??? Congratulations!!!

Have fun in LA!! I hope you have a great time.

I think the race is going to happen. We had rain today and we are suppose to have more rain tomorrow night. It is suppose to clear up and then start raining at noon on Saturday so hopefully we'll be able to get the race in.

Tricia ~ I am praying for Peanut. I hope she will not have to see the neurologist.

I'm trying to remember all the books I got. Mostly they were all mysteries and thrillers. Many of them were foreign ones from Sweden. I seem to be into many of the foreign thrillers these days. Currently I am reading Mockingbird which is about Harper Lee who wrote the book To Kill a Mockingbird. It is my favorite movie.

I'm hoping that I don't see my neighbor the cop tonight. On Friday night at 8:30 someone starts knocking on the door and then ringing the door bell. I don't open the door to anyone at night so I ignored it except it kept on, first the front door, then the back door, then the front door. So I finally asked who it was before opening it. It seems that there has been a rash of car break-ins around town. I know that already because she told me back in November or December. The don't break car windows, they just get cars that are unlock and they steal money, laptops, anything worth stealing. I guess once they got a gun and they have stolen a couple of cars because people will leave the keys in the car - unlocked. So in November or December when she told me the first time, I told her that I ALWAYS keep my car doors locked and that I'm a city girl and it's second nature for me. I also have nothing worth taking in my car. So apparently on Thursday night (last week) they hit our neighborhood and she wanted to know if I had been hit and I told her no....I always lock my door. So she had to talk to me for about 20 minutes about all this police stuff and truly I don't care. The way she was pounding on my door, you think someone had been killed. So yesterday I come home and there is a note about a meeting on Monday night at the police station about home safety, etc and doing a neighborhood watch. I don't plan on going and I'm sure she will ask me if I'm going. She always asking me to report anyone that looks weird and I would but I'm not home all day. I'm gone from 6:30 am to after 5:30 and I'm not out wandering the neighborhood in the middle of the night. I try to be nice to her because frankly she scares me.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Alisha - We'll miss you, but have fun in LA! WHAT NEW JOB? I, like Jane, am curious! I guess I missed the excitement too! Congratulations! Fill us in when you can!

Jane - That looks like one mean workout! lol I'm sure it was moderate for you! Your books sound interesting. I hope they're good! I would ask you to pass along the titles of the really good ones, but my reading list is so long already!

Glad Saturday is shaping up to be a good race day! Kick some butt out there!

Scary about that police officer. Some people aren't helpless and she needs to back off! I hope whoever is breaking into cars gets caught, maybe then, she'll leave you alone! She reminds me of some cops up here. They think they ARE the job and can't just be normal people at home. Sheesh! Either way, stay safe! (I know you are though).

Thank you for all the prayers and good wishes for Peanut.

The office is getting a new computer system next Saturday. The boss is all nervous that there will be serious glitches. He hates upgrading, but, with computers, you have to periodically. The only reason we're doing it is because so many of them are dear. They've been hit with viruses due to a certain attorney who looks at - let's just say - unscrupulous websites when he works late and on the weekends and he uses everyone else's computers to do it. Let's hope for an easy transition!

Have a great day you guys! Safe trip Alisha!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

TGIF!!

Waving hi to Alisha in LA!!

I am taking a rest day because I have my race tomorrow (keeping fingers crossed). The weather is still iffy so we'll have to see what happens tomorrow.

Tricia ~ You can see all the books I read on Goodreads. I have TONS to read. I probably shouldn't have bought more but it's a harmless addiction. ;)

Well I saw the my neighbor yesterday but we were working out so she didn't come over. She kinda scares me with her big gun. I figure I have to be nice to her but we really don't talk too much.

I hope your computer transition goes well. That can be a royal pain if something doesn't go right. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hi Jane!

Guess it's just you and me for a few days! Sure will miss Alisha while she's gone!

I'll have to see, but I thought I was following you on Goodreads. My book list is on Amazon and it's several pages long! Lol
Can't wait to retire!

Didn't do much today other than move all my files from my dying laptop to the main computer. I'll be working off the iPad mostly from now on. That's a load of work getting all my stuff off! It was like moving!

Got to order my Vitamix today! We've been saving so as not to need the credit card and I got the go ahead from Stephen! Can't wait to get it! 1-2 weeks and it'll be here! I had to. Call because on the web page, they had a special offer that included one of Ani Phyo's raw food books, but it was showing out of stock. Glad I called! Turned out they were running low so took it off the web site, but he put in a rush order for me and waived shipping! The wait on hold was worth it! He said that if I don't get my shipping notice by next Tuesday to call. If it's out of stock before they got to my order, they'd give me another recipe book to replace it. Love the service already! I can also trade in later to upgrade if I want to.

Can you tell I'm excited?

Peanut is doing the same, but it can take at least two weeks for her to start feeling better on the new med.

Hi Alisha! Hope you're having a safe trip and a good time!

Hi Tricia and Alisha!

We got the race in yesterday. It was cloudy and humid but temps in the 60's but at least no rain. I got tons of "no see um" bites on my legs. I had bug spray in the car but didn't want to walk back to get it. Race was fine, I felt good but got lost with other people coming back off the trail so I missed my PR by over 3 minutes. I was a bit pissed because this is a Tallahassee run club event and in my opinion did not have enough volunteers out there or even signs. The markings were done with chalk but it rained and I think the marks were smudged off. Oh well...there was a 78-year old woman who ran her 1000th race. I have only done 76 races so I have a way to go to beat her. :p I did see a girl who I met last year and she congratulated me on my weight loss. That was nice to hear!!

I went running again this morning but it was nicer...less humid and sunny. I did 8 miles then my other sister came over and I ran another mile with her.

Tricia ~ CONGRATS ON YOUR VITAMIX!!! I know you have been wanting it for a long time now. You're going to have lots of fun now.

I'm not even going to tell you how many books I have on my Amazon Wish List!! I do like going to the used book stores now and again and I'm having my mom type up my Amazon list on an Excel spreadsheet so I can have it in author alpha order so I can bring it to the used book stores when I go. I'm going to pay my mom for doing the typing for me and she is keeping busy and learning Excel at the same time.

Hi Alisha! Miss you and hope you are having a great time!!

Sorry about the quality of your race! It does seem odd that they would use that method to mark the route. Keep running! You'll catch up to that amazing woman some day! My mom and I used to go to the book stores where we made our lists, then we'd take them to the library and have them get the books for us! Now, I just buy for my Kindle, unless it's not available in ebook format. I run into that sometimes - a lot less than before! I love books, but just don't have room for hard copies any more! Good grief! I'd need half a house just for my library! lol

Cool that your mom is learning Excel! It's such a useful program. I admit that I don't know enough about it, but I do like it!

I'm off today and just trying to decide what I want to do. Not much, really. Read some - speaking of books!

We racked our wine yesterday. I hope it comes out! I'm worried that the temperature in the house fluctuated too much at night, but we shall see. It has 2 weeks to clarify so we can bottle, then a minimum of 3 months before it will be somewhat drinkable. It'll get better as it ages more. Keeping my fingers crossed! It's really not that difficult a process. The worst part is washing and sanitizing everything.

Well, the pups are all relaxed, so I'm going to throw on a move and relax with them for a bit, then get my butt moving!

Have a great day!

Hi Alisha! Thinking of you!

I was off yesterday but I was busy at least in the morning and then I just vegged out for a while. I did my taxes in the morning so at least that is done for another year.

This is the workout I did last night - a nice ladder down workout with kettlebells. I did this before but changed the exercises.

20, 16, 12, 8, 4
Swings - R/L
Double Kettlebell Push Press
Push ups
Kettlebell Rows - R/L
Seated Halos
Kettlebell pull over and reach sit ups

Tricia ~ I have not jumped on the ebook bandwagon yet. I love books!!! I do have a pile of them but I donate all of them to the library for either their shelves or to sell at their book sales. I send some to my friend in Germany.

The wine processing sounds interesting. I hope it comes out.

I am taking a rest day.

Hi Alisha!

Jane - As much as you workout, a rest day is certainly in order! Lucky you that your taxes are done! We're still waiting for something, can't remember what. Stephen is too busy with school to do them until spring break. Hope it comes out well! I hate tax season!

I'm always afraid to donate my books! I sold a whole batch of them back in GA before moving to NC, then regretted getting rid of some of them because I wanted to read them again, so I refuse to let go of any of them any more! lol

Peanut fell off the back door landing last night. Terrified the h*** out of me! Before I could get one foot out the door to check on her though, she was already up and trotting out into the yard. I'm glad she was okay, but I was a disaster after that! I cried and called Stephen who was still on the road home. I got better and she's fine. I really, really hope she starts improving soon! :(

My VitaMix will be here tomorrow! I'm so excited! This means that I get my free Ani Phyo raw food book! She's one of the biggies in raw food! Can't wait to play with it! lol I never dreamt I would be so excited about kitchen appliances!

Have a great night! Hope you enjoyed your rest day!

Hi Alisha!

I'm back

Harry Potter camp was great.:D I didn't get any exercise, other than a lot of walking. Today was my first day of work. Everyone was very nice. It looks like I will be working part time. That is great because it shouldn't interfere with my other goals: education, relaxation, and workouts. :)

My Tracy Anderson discs arrived. I'm just not sure yet how to integrate that into my rotations. She includes a diet plan which is too low in calories to support my workouts. I will be adding some steel cut oats, extra veggies, and coconut oil. She recommends lots of juices, home made.

Tricia- I'm so sorry that Peanut fell, I hope that both of you are ok!

Jane- I love real books too. I just bought a Harry Potter cook book.

I will catch up on the other entries tomorrow,

Alisha

I'm going to try Tracy Anderson's Omni this evening. I thought I was going to have a book club mtg. tonight, but that was post poned to next week. I'm still tired from the weekend. I think I will take a nap and eat something before I go to work this afternoon. Tomorrow will be a Cathe step workout, probably Step Moves. I like that one a lot.

Alisha

Welcome back Alisha! We missed you!!

Here is tonight's workout:

Run 1 mile
10x Swings - 30#
10x Swings - 35#
10x Swings - 45#
10x Swings - 53#
Four Sets - in between weight increase do 5 jump squats
Then
5x5 Double KB Clean/Squat Press
Then
5x5 Double KB Thrusters
Then
5x10 Double KB Front Squats
Then
25 Sit ups

Alisha - I'm glad you had a great time at camp and also at work too.

Tricia ~ That must have been so scary for you. I'm glad Peanut was ok.

Hope everyone has a great afternoon!

Tracy's Omni was not cued at all. lol! You just follow along as best as you can. I did have fun. There is lots of hopping, like jump rope without a rope, and lots of little moves like I was doing a jig. I'm glad no one was watching. I will definitely do a Cathe tonight.

I have longer shift today at work. They transferred me to Sacramento to be trained so that I will be completely preparred come the Grand Opening day at our Folsom location. Everybody has been so nice. Yesterday Afton (a customer) was just so nice. I accidentally knocked most of her flowers all over the floor and she says "My fault!" Of course, it wasn't, it was my fault. I hope my new boss didn't notice that one.

Tricia, I remember that you sometimes take Maca powder. Tell me about it. I bought a bottle of Nature's way brand and I am thinking about trying it. My new job is a dog friendly store. We have a store dog, she is a blue tip hound, and the nicest girl you ever met. Her name is Bailey.

Jane- I missed you too!! That looks like a great workout.

Alisha

I am going for a run today probably around 3 miles or so. Then I am taking a rest day tomorrow and leaving in the afternoon for St. Simons Island. We are running a 10K there on Saturday morning and taking mom with us.

Alisha ~ I'm glad you are enjoying your new job. Don't worry about little mistakes. That is to be expected until you get the hang of it.

I know I probably look silly doing some of the stuff that I do. Don't even get me on a step. I am hopeless.

Hi Tricia.

I probably won't be back here until late Saturday or Sunday so have a great Friday and weekend.
