Jogglers December!!!!

I'm doing my swing/push ups workout during the day today because I have to go grocery shopping after work today and I have a 5K race tomorrow morning.

So far I have done 7 rounds of 25 swings with a 44# kb and 15 push ups. I have 4 more rounds to go.

Tricia ~ It doesn't go totally dark until about 6:00 even though sunset is 5:34 pm. After December 22, the days start getting longer so it will be better down here. I don't when I lived in Illinois it would get dark at 4:30. This week are in the 60's during day, next week we will be back in the 70's!!!!

Alisha ~ I hope you had a good joggle today.

Well.. nothing much else to say. I have do any swing/pushup combo in a couple of minutes.

I'm also glad that you remembered to trim your nails and wrap your boo-boo! Nothing worse than forgetting those things! Hope you had a lovely joggle today!

Jane - Love your swing/pushup workout so much! Cool that it's become your Friday workout, sorta! Ugh, grocery shopping! Will you do mine while you're at it?

I did not get my workout done tonight. Came home and Stephen was already home and in jammies! He had already taken his car for an oil change down in South County and gotten home and was in the middle of a game of Halo.

It's okay, I'm going to do a double tomorrow to make up for it so I can still hit my 27 days! I'm going to do Cathe so I can, hopefully, get happy! Ended my day pretty bummed and depressed today. Felt like I was 10 again because my co-workers went to lunch together today and then were talking about going out tonight. Yep. I was not invited. Oh, well. Being a military brat, I'm no stranger to being an outsider, but it just rubbed me wrong today. Hormones? Maybe. Either way, I'll be fine tomorrow.

I did enjoy yesterday's run/walk. I wonder if there will ever be a day when I run those hills:eek: I did not do yesterday's yoga. I find myself tired. I need to just push through and do it anyway because its really helpful in the weight loss.
I'm going to do Power Max this morning. I'm all dressed and my laundry is put away.

I'm feeling like cleaning up my diet and starting my January challenges early. I love January and I want to start early, have January plus 20 extra days of it. I started yesterday by giving up commercial bread. I did have a few cookies (3) Joe Joes, and I did have some organic ice cream, but I am going for continuous self improvement, not perfection.

Hi Alisha!

I wish I lived closer too! Glad you had a good joggle! Have you considered adding some maca powder? It really helps the energy level and reducing tiredness. I love it! Have fun with PM!

I like your food plan! Continuous Self Improvement! I'm going to borrow that! I feel that just getting my workout schedule back on track is one huge step to that CSI (funny!) and I will walk that path with you!

I feel so much better today than I did last night. This morning, I decided to give them all the big you-know-what and just do my thing, get fit, again, eat healthy and show them all up physically! :p It's all I've got and I'm going to show them all just how much better a person I am than they are.

Unfortunately, our office's client party is this coming Tuesday night. I don't even want to go. Gotta though. It's such a bore. Yes, there's free booze and finger foods, but nobody talks to me and Stephen. The clients only care about talking to the ones they work with on the real estate closing and I'm just a flunkie. Oh, well, we'll go, we'll have a drink or two, a little food, make our showing and come home.

Good Morning!

Yesterday I did a 5K race. It was so nice not to drive far...it was a 2 minute drive. The weather was overcast and a tad cold but no wind so it was nice. I felt great and did my second best 5K time (not sure it was a full 3.1 miles though). Still I enjoyed running around my hometown. Then I came home and did the following workout:

21-15-9 reps of:
Thrusters
Ball Slams
Decline Push ups
Then Farmers carry after each round up and down the driveway
Then - Five Rounds of the following:
10 Deadlifts
20 Weighted Step ups

This morning I got up and rand 6.6 miles with a new running partner and my sister Jean. I think we will push each other and we will both push Jean. She has a slower pace than I do but runs the whole way whereas I have a faster pace and need a couple of walk breaks. Hopefully we can meet in the middle and both be comfortable.

Heading to mom's for some Cookie baking.

Tricia - Hope you had fun with your friends last night. I hate office parties and I avoid them at all costs. Thankfully we don't have lots of money so we are just doing a luncheon on Friday along with our crazy grab bag.

Alisha - Yes, there will be a day when you can run up the hill. If anything, try to run up 1/2 of it. That's what I do.

I'm taking a rest day. I'm going over to Nevada City for the Victorian Christmas to take pictures. I woke up feeling crabby today, I don't know why.:confused:

Hi Jane! We did have a great time last night, but it killed my day today. They didn't start until 9 pm, so it was not an early night! We got home around 1:30 am and I've been exhausted all day! I did not do a workout today. I know a lot of people can push past being tired, but not me! I'd rather be well rested and fresh! So, I'm moving Turbo Barre to tomorrow and I'll do the whole thing since my upper body will be rested tomorrow, still sore I'm sure, but ready for round 2.

Alisha - Victorian Christmas sounds beautiful! Have fun! Hopefully, that will help your mood!

Went to the grocery store and got a great deal on my Christmas goose! I had to ask the guy in the meat department where they were. Ended up they were hidden by turkeys people had moved from the bin next to them. I was trying to get under them so I could see the price on the geese and the meat guy came over to help me. He offered it to me at $1.99 a pound! They were marked $4.29 per pound! I was thrilled! They are expensive and the ones we wanted from the farm were $9 a pound, but they are pasture raised which I would have loved, but we are poor, so I brought my $1.99 a pound goose home with pride today!

Hi ladies!

No workout for me today. Too many chores! I left way too many dishes last night and I had to get kitty box done for trash day tomorrow and wash all my tights. Yes, I know, I should have been more productive this weekend! My bad!

We have our office's client party tomorrow night. Blech! So, the girls got together to go get holiday mani/pedis tonight - oh, yeah, without me. Didn't even get an invite until I got back from lunch today and not from the co-worker who is my "friend," but from the receptionist. Eh. Not my thing anyway, but it was nice to be asked! Just wish it had been when they first planned it. It would have meant a little bit more.

Starting the LIS rotation tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing what kind of results I can see from that one!
 
Hi, I forgot to post yesterday. Here's my workout from last night.

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps of: swings, double kb squats, double kb rows and double kb clean and presses. We ran the driveway up and back after each round.

Tonight will be 3-4 mile run under the Christmas lights. Jean and I are going with our new running partner. I am going to let her pace us. After our run on Sunday morning, I realized that she is more slow-twitch muscle dominate meaning she can run longer as her muscles are more resistance to fatigue. I am more fast-twitch muscle dominate meaning I have shorter bursts of energy which is why I have a faster pace but I need to take short walk breaks. Her pace is slower than mine so I want to see if I can keep pace with her, run longer and not pass her. Interesting enough she ran in the last 2 races with me and I beat her both times. On Saturday she caught up to me close to the 3 mile mark but she couldn't keep up with my pace (I sprinted the last .1). She ran both races and I ran but I took a couple short walk breaks.

Tricia ~ Why do people have to be so rude! People do that here but they don't bother asking me anymore because they know that I will turn them down. We are having are Xmas luncheon on Friday and I have to buy a $20 grab bag gift which is so stupid because it's all guys and they will either buy liquor or some type of tools. One year when we had 5 girls in the office, we all bought girly things but now there are only 2 of us girls.

Alisha ~ We made frosted sugar cookies. Yum! We had a lot of fun though as I am not the most artistic so there was lots of laughing at my efforts.
 
I guess I forgot to post yesterday. I went for a joggle and in the late afternoon I did 20 min. with Shiva Rae. I woke up this morning planning on working out, and then I smashed my toe with my own chair, unintentional, but I decided to wait until this afternoon to do my Cathe workout. I'm leaning towards one of the Cardio Hits. I have not decided which one.

My copy of Jillian Michaels' Making the Cut arrived yesterday. Its really geared towards the individual who needs to lose just 20 or less pounds, and I need to drop about 40, so I'm just reading it now so that (as I plan) come about March I will be ready to use this book. I'm ready to get this weight off. I'm watching my eats. I'm doing the cardio. I'm doing the yoga. I just have to keep my mind in the game. None of this stuff works when I'm on autopilot.;)

Jane- Running under the Christmas Lights sounds beautiful!

Tricia-I would invite you for a mani/pedi! I have the LIS series but I find myself not getting quite enough cardio. I like the discs, the workouts are great. But, there is really only one true step workout and I do a lot of step. That reminds me to keep some of that series in my rotation and not get into old habits of just Cardio hits/Imaxes.
 
Yesterday I did one of the Cardio Hits. I forget which one. This morning I did 4 miles and then Stretch Max with the band. I will be out of town for 3 days without internet. My computer is a laptop, but it is too old and fragile to be lugged around, so I leave it at home. We are going to the bay area, a family member is having a heart ablation. Its a minimally invasive procedure. I'm sure it will go well. This morning I baked a lemon tart, topped it with truffle chocolate and baked it in a chocolate tart crust. Its not really pretty to look at, but man, it sure tastes good! Its a good thing I'm giving it away, its for my Mom's work. I hope they appreciate the effort. I made the whole thing from scratch.

I'm tired, I'm going to get some rest. I should be back by either late Saturday or on Sunday. I plan to take Travel Fit and some clothes/workout shoes so I can use the hotel gym.

Hi ladies!

The party last night was okay. We actually talked to some people who made good conversation! Others were going out for the after-party, but we came home. I'm so glad! Two of my co-workers were wasted all day! lol :p I know my limits and can't stay out late anymore.

Alisha - Sorry you mashed your toe! Glad it didn't keep you from working out! I whacked the doo-doo out of my right funny bone getting ready for the party last night! Hurt so bad it made me nauseous! We'll get our diets on track, Alisha! I hope the JM book is really helpful! My biggest problem, as I keep saying, is planning menus and prepping food in advance. Gotta get better at that!

Your lemon tart sounds fabulous! I'd appreciate it! I hope your family member is okay. The ablation isn't too bad. See you when you get back!

Hi Jane! How did your run go with your friend? I need to read Cathe's article about figuring out whether you are fast-twitch or slow-twitch. Not really sure what I am, but I suspect more slow-twitch.

That luncheon must be tough with so many guys! Why can't they pick more generic gifts like an Amazon gift card or theater tickets? Must be a real hard thing being one of only two females in the group! We aren't even having our office get together this year. All we had was the client party.

I love sugar cookies! Planning on making chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies this weekend, but I'd love some sugar cookies too! Only problem is I don't need all that stuff sitting around the house and I refuse to share with my office! :eek:

No workout tonight, but I'm going to try to get up tomorrow morning and do it! We shall see . . . I have a few accountability partners calling me in the morning, so I hope I'll be considerate of them and get my butt up!
 
I took a rest day yesterday. I had to go run a couple of errands.

This is the workout I'm doing tonight.

2 Rounds
Run around the block - approx. 600m
10 Upright Rows
20 Swings
30 Squat Thrusts
40 Weighted Step ups (20 each leg)
50 Squats

Tricia ~ The run with my friend went well. She had a watch and has everything timed so we had our pace set. The only issues I have is that my sister runs slower than us and I feel bad that we leave her behind. When we ran together I always stayed with her pace. It didn't really bother me and at races we run separately. My sister says she doesn't mind and that it will help her be a better runner but I feel bad.

I think the only way to figure out what kind of muscles you have is to just get them tested. Also, people with more slow twitch are usually thinner because those muscles are smaller - think marathon runner. My legs are larger so I lean toward more fast twitch (I think).

I got a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble for the Xmas party. The limit was only $20 but I bought it at the grocery store (too lazy to go anywhere else) so I paid more because all the gift cards were $25. I should just take it for myself. Last year, an intern bought a gingerbread set with mugs and stuff. She just picked her own gift and knew that no one would take it from her....too funny!!

I wish we weren't having a party at all but it's just lunch (wings or something) and I made 2 desserts because I like to bake and I'm nice.

I had my review today and it went well. My boss is a bit like me so we get along and he doesn't work in the office so that makes it really nice. Of course no raise because we have no $$$ but I'm ok with that for now because I have a job and I am making better than the area so it's fine.

Tricia - if you need a wake up call let me know. I am up at 5:15 during the week.

Alisha - We will miss you. We will try to carry on until Sunday without you!!! :(
 
Jane - Great workout tonight! I'm like your sister. When I run with Stephen, he always stays with me, but I tell him to run ahead so he can get his pace up. He always comes back to me though. I feel like I hold him back, but it really does help me bring my pace up. Still not as fast as he is, but he's been running for years!

I like the idea of buying your own gift! lol You are too nice to those guys! I'm glad you had a good review! I'm like you, it's good just to have a job that pays well!

I may hit you up on that wake up call! I'm on vacation after Monday, but I want to try to get back to mornings after that. I'll let you know!

The procedure did go well. Aunty had an eblation. Its minimally invasive and she seems to have done really well. We were able to bring her home today.

Last night, at exactly 12:04 am, I received a prank call on my cel phone. A crazy woman shrieked into the phone about a pizza. I continued to receive calls for several minutes, turned my phone off. My mother and I were sharing a hotel room in Redwood City, CA. Needless to say, she heard everything. Anywhooo, fast forward to today at noon, and again, with the crank call. This time I had more witnesses. I told the cranker that if they didn't stop calling I was going to call the police. I will call AT&T to get this blocked tomorrow. In the meantime, my phone is turned off. I'm worn out. Tired. And irritable.

Bleh.

On another note: Aunty is quite well. Its sunny, warm, and going to be in the 60s.

I did pretty good with my workouts over the weekend. I took my workout clothes and used the cardio equipment in the Holiday Inn Express workout room. I had a lot of fun on the elliptical, but my toes went numb after about 20 minutes. I burned over 400 calories on each day and put in about 50 minutes on each day.

The eats were good. We had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen on Thursday, I had the salmon with just veggies and a couple oven toasted rolls. I skipped dessert. On Friday morning, I had the free breakfast at the hotel, but I was watching myself, I kept to the hard boiled eggs, fresh juice (cranberry), and an orange. All day Friday was spent at the hospital. We had a late lunch at 'The Godfather' which is a burger joint. I had the salmon burger, only ate 1/2 the bun, and some onion rings. Dinner was a salad at Fresh Choice, I was good, I had the caesar, kale, some black beans, non fat italian dressing, and less than 1/2 a c. of non fat yogurt. I did have one small piece of Squaw bread and a tiny piece of pumpkin bread (225 cal.). Today, breakfast was my own home made egg whites, a bagel, cream cheese. Lunch was at the Black Bear Diner, I had about 7 oz. of steak, a small cup of chicken gumbo (soooo good!!!!), and 1 scoop of the huckleberry ice cream (just 130 cal.!). It was really good. Anywhoo, I'm glad to be home, and now I can get back to losing weight, eating my own noms, and relax.

Tricia- your Stephen is a really nice guy, to come back like that. The lemon tart was very popular! Its a good thing, because I don't want to keep around the house, I might have eaten it!:p

Jane- My Mom had one of those gift card thingys, we had a limit of 5$. The best one was 5$ for See's Candy.

I'm leaning towards a Cathe for tomorrow. But, I might take a rest.

I am so glad to be home. Yeah, I know, I said that already. But, really, I am.

Alisha - Glad your back home safely and that your aunt's procedure went well! You really did great with your workouts and eats while you were away!

I ended up not working out this past week. We had our office client party on Tuesday and a wine tasting on Friday. Back at it tomorrow. Stephen wants me to go running with him in the morning. I warned him it wouldn't be pretty! We shall see . . .

I did 70 minutes of very steep terrain, I burned over 750 calories. I'm resting now. I had a pear, some left over green beans/squash, and 4 Newman's Own organic chocolate cookies (small ones.) Its nice and sunny outside. I plan to rest and then take a shower, and study all afternoon on Excel with Lynda.com
I have some kale in the fridge, chicken drumsticks to cook, and a pomegranate to eat for lunch. I love those but I always stain my fingers.

Tricia- Definitely go with Stephen, I wish I had a running buddy.

Friday's Xmas party was ok. My boss ended up having a meeting in the middle of it so it was kinda boring but it lasted longer so we didn't really do much work for the rest of the day. We did the gift exchange and at one point I had my gift card back but on the last round someone took it from me so I ended up getting a big jar of honey. I could have taken something else...a gift card or liquor but I felt bad that there was still one package under the tree so I took that. I did bum some candy off one of the guys so it wasn't too bad. I didn't eat very good though.

Saturday was busy and I didn't get a workout in. I was with my mom from 8-3 and then came home and crashed. I slipped and fell in my bathoom buck naked but I was ok. My elbow was bruised a bit but because I have padding on my hips and butt I was fine.

Sunday was a marathon day - out the door at 7:30 for a run, then came home rested, made lunch for the work week, had lunch, went outside to pick oranges for my boss (very important), wrote out Christmas cards, made Christmas cookies, wrapped presents, and wrote out checks. I was too tired to even make dinner. I think I had a banana and wheat toast.

I'm not sure what I'm doing today. I'll ask the sisters and look in my big black book of workouts.

Alisha - We are happy to have you back. I'm glad your trip was successful and Aunty is doing better. I am growing pomegranates in the backyard. We didn't get a crop yet because it is still small but maybe next year.

I hate cranky phone calls. I got a wrong number at 1:30 in the the morning last week. I looked at the number and didn't recognize it so I let the machine take it. No message, then it rang again, ignored it again and then it rang again so I finally answered and it was some old lady looking for a Miss Tracy.

We are getting See's Candy for Christmas!!! :D

Tricia ~ Let me know if you need a wake-up call. It's no problem. It is weird running with someone else but it's working out. Jean doesn't mind being behind and she is hoping it will motivate her so we'll see what happens. I think we are going to meet our running friend at the track on Christmas eve to run repeats. Then I'm going to do a heinous workout afterwards so I can burn some major calories because I'll be eating lots of bad stuff.

Which See's candy is your favorite? I like the dark maple walnut creams.

Putting some calories in the bank makes a lot of sense. I'm still trying to just work off what I gained in the fall:eek:

I forgot to post that I'm doing Low Max tomorrow. Just thinking about it makes my 'legs quiver like a chihuahua.'

I like to post what I think I'm going to do so that I am committed.

Well..I tripped getting the mail yesterday and tweaked my ankle so I ended up doing ab and core work, seated chest presses, presses and seated halos. The ankle is better today. No swelling with just a bit pain every so often. I think I'm doing to do the floorwork from Gym Style Legs today. I want to be able to workout this weekend and go running on Thursday so I going to rest it as much as possible. I'm don't know why I trip all the time.

Alisha - I like the Bordeaux buttercreams. Did I tell you we are also having Fannie May Candy as well. I don't know if you heard of them because they used Chicago only but then so company bought them. Fannie May was first job back in 1977 so I have a soft spot for them. We also are having Cinnamon Kringle (a pastry) for Xmas morning.
