Joggler's December 2012

Hi Jane!

Well, sadly, I do put my workouts on my calendar. Sigh. I just ignore it.

I only work through Friday. We are closed the 24th and 25th for the first time, then I'm off the last 3 days of the week for the rest of my vacation days.

Hope you get off early on Monday! Work, work! As Cathe would say and get it all done so you can take it easy next week!

I still have to wrap Stephen's presents and shop for the kiddos. Gourmet treats for the pups and just some cans of moist food for kitty! He loves the stuff, but it's pricey, so he only gets it as a treat.

Hi Alisha! Hope you've had a good day!

Stupid internet.

We had a power out yesterday and it fried the phone and the internet too. We think it was a power spike. Gah. Anyway, I've fixed it (with the help of my brother.) and the power is back. Yeah. Its a good thing too, its been a little chilly (in the 30s at night.)

I went to Wally World to get some more workout clothes. Everything I have is capri length, way too short for cold weather. I bought two pairs of pants, 3 bras, and arch support sox. I also bought some post earrings because I can't workout without some style:eek:

We went to Crepeville for breakfast. I had the hawaiian (ham, cheese, and brown sugar) and a nutella crepe. I drank hot tea instead of hot chocolate. The Nutella was enough chocolate for me.

My ear had another flare up, but its looking ok right now. I seem to be ok if I ice it, take my fish oil, and take my billberry.

Tricia- Stop it! Don't do day 6, do day 5, and shift it over. Silly girl, there is a reason its sequential! Hurting yourself won't be an effective strategy. This is why we run 1/2 a mile before we run a whole mile, its the same for burpees.
Don't hurt yourself out of pride. Btw, I would never workout if I couldn't shower after, thats disgusting. My favorite salmon is salmon burgers with a little slice of pineapple and teriyaki sauce served with homemade citrus coleslaw.

Jane- I like the workout calendar idea. I look at the days I have to be out of the office and what the weather is like. It really does help.

Alisha

This will be a quick post. It is raining so I working out indoors. Most likely weight workout and some plank work with a kettlebell.

Waving to both of you. I'll be back tomorrow.

TGIF!!

I am resting today. Last night I did an upper body workout and did some plank work with a kettlebell and some different ab exercises. I feel sore all over but in a good way.

It is sunny today but cold (ok...in the 50's but windy) so it feels colder than it actually is. I had to make the long journey to the back of closet to find a long sleeve sweater.

Alisha ~ Shopping is always fun. I'm glad the power came back on before it got cold in the house.

Tricia ~ How can we help you stay on track with your workouts?

I had great intentions last night. But, I got some nasty GI bug, was up all night being sick. I'm better now. But, my AM workout didn't happen. Instead, I will do my Hula for Weight Loss DVD this evening and I will do Kick It tomorrow.

Jane- Great job on that KB workout.

Tricia- How are you?

Alisha

Hi ladies! Happy Saturday Before Christmas!

Been off a couple of days. Oops!

Alisha - Sorry you had a power outage, but I'm glad it wasn't for long! Funny you think capris are too short for winter! I was wanting capris for winter because all I have are short workout bottoms! I don't like a lot of material on my legs when I work out, but could only find long yoga pants, so they'll have to do for weight workouts (when I finally get back to them, that is).

Sorry your ear won't settle down! I'm glad you're able to keep it under some control at least! Also sorry you were so under the weather the other night! :(

Glad you're feeling better!

Jane - What? No race this weekend? ;) I saw your pics of your "workout room" this morning! Showed it to my husband. He likes it better than mine! I have a ton of stuff and want more! LOL I told him that would make a great workout supply - big tire, battling rope, some more kettlebells. I would need a garage though. It gets too cold up here in winter to do workouts outside! Either that, or we need to move a bit more south!

No burpees or anything since we last chatted. Alisha, I know. I'm going to start back at 5 sets of 5 - doable. I'll finish my burpee challenge through the end of the year.

I saw that XTrain is on its way to Cathe! That'll be there in a week and that'll be perfect for me to start for the year New Year! I really don't know what to suggest for help to keep on track. Either of you want to come visit for about 3 months to get me into a routine by cracking a literal whip on me every day?

I used to need that gym atmosphere and a group to get myself motivated and moving. When I started doing Cathe, all I needed was my own will. I'm not sure what I need now. If either of you have any good suggestions, I'm willing to put them to good use, or at least, to the test!

On a positive note, my adherence to raw breakfast and lunch has resulted in about a 3.5 pound loss! Even without consistent workouts! Sticking to fish and salads at dinner right now. For 2013, I plan to get better with my meal planning and increase me raw, as well as get my butt back into gear to get myself fitter and stronger again. I really, really need to get this to work! It's what I really want!

I hope you two are all ready for Christmas! I still need to finish up my grocery shopping and I'll be done going out until after the holiday! I'll do that either later this afternoon or tomorrow (most likely tomorrow at this point).

In about five minutes last night I wrapped Stephen's presents and put them in his stocking. He felt it and decided there were 2 packages in there. What a nice surprise he'll have Christmas morning! There's actually 3! Ha, Ha!

So, have a great day! I promise to do my burpees and I will log back on to confirm when they're done!

6 sets of 6 tonight! Well, actually 10, then 9, then 8, then 5, then 4. Whew! Aiming for 49 tomorrow!

Hope you two are enjoying your weekend before Christmas!

I took today as a rest day. I plan to go for a hike/jog tomorrow morning. Its blustery now, but the forecast calls for sunny and cold in the morning. If its too cold, I will do a Kathy Smith Hi/Lo DVD, if its ok, I will definitely be outside.

I'm drinking a lot of hot tea. Its so cold out there. Tomorrow I will be baking ginger snaps, they are payment for one of my Mom's friends to frame some artwork. My Mom's art is in a show:eek: I plan to dip one side in white chocolate and to crust them with candied ginger.

Tricia- Good job on those burpees. Stephen is lucky, 3 presents is better than 2.

Jane- I don't own too many sweaters. I think I have one real jacket, and two sweaters. I just layer with longer sleeve knits most of the time.

Alisha

Happy Christmas Eve!!!

I'm dressed and ready to go for a hike. I'm sipping on my lemony/pepper drink. I'm loading podcasts on my green shuffle. I feel pretty good. I woke up with some shmutz in my nose, I'm hoping that all my vit. C in my drink will clear that right up. I plan to cool down with some yoga. Tomorrow will be something indoors. I haven't done step in a while, I'm leaning towards that direction.

I plan to spend the day baking cookies!!

Alisha

Happy Xmas Eve!

I am at work but will be leaving at noon and then I will be off until next week. I'll be heading home, doing a kettlebell upper body workout and then leaving to head to mom's house. My sister and I are sleeping over.

Saturday I did a Crazy 8's Workouts - 8 rounds, 8 exercises and 8 rep - of swings, squat thrusts, elephants, tire flips, ball slams, thrusters, sit up and reach, broad jumps.

Sunday was a 10 mile run more or less.

I'm not working out tomorrow but Wednesday will be a Spartan 1500 workout - 15 exercises - 100 reps each.

Alisha ~ We baked cookies on Saturday. Have fun. Love making cookies and the wonderful aroma that it brings to the house.

Tricia ~ Are you having a burpee Christmas? LOL!

Hope you gals have a wonderful holiday. I will try to pop in from time to time.

Merry Christmas Eve to you as well, Alisha and Jane! :D

Alisha - Enjoy a beautiful hike today! The ginger snap cookies sound yummy! I'm behaving myself a bit this year. No rich dessert. I'm making a chocolate kahlua mousse for Stephen (his choice) and a raw chocolate pecan pie for me.

Jane - I love that Crazy 8 workout! You'll be making up for no workout tomorrow with that Spartan one! Yikes! I remember doing it once as a challenge in group! Remember? Doubt could even eke out half of it right now in the shape I'm in (or not, whichever way you want to look at it)!

Both of you enjoy a beautiful Christmas with your families! Stephen and I will be going to midnight mass this year and will have a nice quiet day tomorrow, short of burpees, that is!

Yes, I'll do my 7x7 today and 8x8 tomorrow. These will get me right up to XTrain! Very excited! It'll be downloadable Thursday night, but I'll wait until Friday to avoid the rush. I'll have plenty of time to get them loaded to start on Sunday or Monday. Hope Cathe puts the rotation in the WM right away! I hate having to wait for that and missing my anticipated start date! It also wreaks havoc on my motivation!

Catch up with you gals probably after Christmas! Again, enjoy a joyous day tomorrow!

Happy Holiday!!

I hope that your Christmasses were good. We had a nice quiet Christmas. I got lots of workout clothes, a cute little Froggy print bag for my cel phone, my iPh was an early Christmas present, a 9 pack of earring posts (cause I lose them all the time.)

Its been completely rainy. So I did get that hike on Monday. I didn't workout yesterday. I just didn't:eek: So, I'm back at it today. I have a Kathy Smith Hi/Lo + weights workout this morning. I had a snack and my lemony/pepper drink. I am dressed to do it. Tomorrow will be either step or kick box. We won't have a dry day until Thursday.

Tricia- Good job on behaving yourself!! I am too, no See's Candy box for me (I asked the family not to buy me one.)

Jane-I love the smell of baking cookies. I was so proud of myself, I only ate one.:D

Alisha

Hello Alisha! Glad you had a nice Christmas and no candy! Woo-hoo! Sounds like you got what you wanted/needed this year! The froggy bag sounds cute! I haven't worked out in 2 days - no burpees and I'm exhausted today from the cooking yesterday, plus lack of sleep after midnight mass! Got home about 1:30 a.m., then to bed, but the pups didn't settle until around 2 or 2:30, then someone's stupid car alarm was going off a couple of hours later. Up at 8 a.m., made red velvet pancakes minus the red because I don't use that chemical stuff and organic 3-pack of dyes were $18! So they were cocoa pancakes with the cream cheese filling and powdered sugar! They were delicious and sinful, but that was the worst of it. Scrounged for lunch then goose, mashed taters made with almond milk, roasted butternut squash and onions and homemade bread and I had my raw dessert while Stephen ate his mousse! Clean up was pretty easy, then we watched It's a Wonderful Life. I feel beat up today. Probably won't workout. Who knows.

Stephen was very happy with his 3 new games! I got attachments for my camera to go on my telescope for astrophotography and a macro lense for my camera so I can take foodie pics. Took a few practice ones last night. Need to work with that. The pictures came out looking a bit too bright.

We had a lovely quiet day. Called my brother, dad and mom. Everyone is doing well. My brother and I talked about mom a bit. We are noticing that she gets lost in her thoughts sometimes. Forgets what she's talking about or what we just told her. Gets confused, then some days, she seems back to normal. Since he's close, my brother is going to talk to Joe, her husband, and see if he's noticed. We'll be keeping an eye on her and staying in touch. I hate seeing her deteriorate. She's 73 and will be 74 this coming January, I think. We're hoping it's meds or something and not onset of alzheimer's.

Anyway, enjoy your day and your workout! Here's to an exciting and productive New Year!

Hi Jane!

Tricia- Any kind of Statin drug will cause those memory problems. Antacids do too. If its just alheimers, then she will need to have coconut oil everyday to help with that. Its known to improve it. I hope that its simply that she is bored;)

I did a Kathy Smith DVD yesterday. I didn't go for a hike today, its really cold out there. I thought I was going to do a DVD, but I might hike instead because its supposed to be the only dry day this week.

Jane- How are you?

Alisha

Hello My Friends!

Sounds like you guys had a great holiday. Our Christmas was quiet and lazy. My sister and I slept over at mom's. We had a nice breakfast and just played cards, worked on the puzzle and just hung out. We talked to my sister and brother-in-law a couple of times during the day.

Yesterday I went for a 3.5 mile run and twisted my ankle a little bit. It did not swell but was achy. I spent the day watching a movie and reading. It was nice for a change.

Today I did a 700 rep workout instead of the planned 1500 rep workout. I took out all of the jumping exercises. Afterwards my ankle felt pretty good. I headed over to mom's house and my sister and I worked out in her yard for 2 hours. The trail that we are cleared around her backyard is going good and we are almost done! My ankle felt pretty good. It aches a bit from time to time but I'm grateful it wasn't anything more serious.

Tricia ~ I hope your mom is ok. I wouldn't want anyone to go through what my dad went through although he had dementia not Alzheimer.

Alisha ~ Congrats on the no candy. I can't say that about myself but I figure it is only once a year. It has been colder here too. We had a rainy Christmas but it has been sunny since although a little too cold for my taste.

Jane- I'm sorry that your ankle is bothering you, I hope that it is all better soon.

I am very fond of puzzles.

I did my Kick It VHS tape this morning. I was so proud of myself, even though I'm a bit heavier, my form is still really good.:) I will do something tomorrow. It depends on how cold it is. Either a hike or a step workout.

Alisha

Evening ladies!

Alisha - Not sure if mom is on any statins, but she was on tons of stuff back in the 70s with her respiratory illness and on steroids long term back then. Thanks for the info on coconut oil! I didn't know it was good for that type of thing! Glad you're getting some workouts in!

Jane - Glad you had a lovely holiday with your mom and sister! Hope the ankle improves quickly! Nothing worse than having a tweaky ankle! I love puzzles too, but kitty doesn't like to let me have the pieces! lol

I'll keep you two posted on mom. Hoping it's reversible whatever it is!

I sat with my iPad (as usual, yes, I know that's not abnormal for me) watching the forum and Cathe FB page for news on the downloads all day yesterday! Finally, around 4:30 or so, I saw the post! I was the first to see it! Wow! Got all my downloads done by 5:30 and connected to iTunes. I did the first XTrain DVD today Chest, Shoulders and Back. It was fast and kept it interesting. 8 rounds of 3 exercises, one for each body part and they moved! Yes, lots of pushups - ugh - but I made it through. Not feeling very sore, but I noticed that I needed to up the weights on mostly the chest and back exercises. We'll see how I feel tomorrow. It's Cardio Legs tomorrow! The write up sounds a lot like the STS plyo workouts. We shall see!

Enjoy your weekend! I can't believe it's here again already!

Happy Weekend!

I have taken a rest day. I have a party to go to this evening. I was a little sore and tired this morning from yesterday's kick box workout. I baked some apples this morning. I will do a workout tomorrow, I don't know which one yet.

Alisha

Hi Alisha! Hope you are having fun at your party tonight!

Hi Jane! How is your weekend going?

We're getting lots of snow tonight. 4 inches-ish so far. I worry about tomorrow because we're supposed to get some serious winds with gusts up to 50 mph or so, add in the snow, and there's a lot potential for downed limbs and trees and power outages. I pray we don't lose power! it's only going to hit 29 degrees tomorrow and get down to 19 tomorrow night! Brrrr!

I did XTrain 2 days in a row! Yay! Today, I did Cardio Leg Blast. Very similar to plyo from STS. Fast and intense. My out of shape self had to take a lot of mini breaks! My legs are tire and my upper body is sore from yesterday. Tomorrow is Biceps and Triceps, if we don't lose power.

Other than that, I'm just trying to enjoy the rest of my time off! One more day, then it's back to work!
