internet down

We haven't had internet service since Saturday. We had a power outage that fried one of our routers. My brother will be home this weekend to fix it. In the meantime, I'm at the Starbucks just a couple of miles from my house. I must admit, the idea of being the next JK Rowling has its appeal, warm, hot water on tap, soothing music, sun streaming in the floor to ceiling windows. I don't think I could have it better (unless someone was paying me;) ). They even have Christmas trees. How festive.

My weight is starting to come down. I'm doing South Beach diet this week. Basically, its simple, healthy protein, dairy, legumes, veggies, and healthy fats. No high GI fruits, grain, potatoes, sweets, or rice. I do miss my sushi, but that can wait, this is only for two weeks. Then I will slowly add in fruit (berries), steel cut oats, and brown rice.

My ears are good most of the time, occasionally the tips start to get red, I am putting triple antibiotic ointment on them. I hope that its helping, I don't really know.

I did Kathy Smith's Fat Burning Workout this morning. Its 55 minutes of Hi/Lo. I will probably go for a hike tomorrow. I am having a hard time getting back in the swing of exercising, I'm still feeling the effects of the infection and antibiotics. I am taking probiotics, drinking kefir, and taking fish oil. My HRM tells me that I am working hard. My heart is just not thrilled with this infection. Did you know that heart attacks are caused (usually) by an infection? I learned about that on Persiflager's Puscast from Mark Crislip.

Jane- Great job on your workout. Jane I love Whole Foods, especially the hot lunch items. The soups are great, I like the spicy fish (some people don't like fish, but I do.) The breakfast chicken sausages are great but a little salty. (Perfect for after a long race when you need some salt.) My favorite naughty TJ treat is the minty mallows, but my favorite not-too-naughty treat is the Vanilla Joe Joes. I also am partial to their dark chocolate ice cream (doesn't plump me. Go figure.) but that doesn't ship very well:p

Tricia- I agree, I hate the way they treat the workers around here. I know that on raw you wouldn't have the dairy products, but TJs has a great assortment of house made cheeses. They also have great frozen foods that are just on the cusp of being healthy;) I like their breads (not doing those for a while though). Good job on Stephen for fixing your workouts! Hugs for that!
 
Hello drippy ladies! It's been raining here all day and poured on me coming home from work.

Alisha - Hate when that happens! I would not want to have to go someplace else to use the internet, but I guess I would if pressed. Hope you get fixed soon! Glad your weight is cooperating with South Beach! I'm still not getting into the whole workout thing yet. Good thing I hate cheese!

Jane - Glad you had a nice weekend! Funny about the over-decorators! I don't get why people like to be gaudy! :confused:

Someone told me they just opened a Hobby Lobby in RI! I must go! Should be able to find jewelry making supplies at pretty good prices instead of going to the Bead & Wire Shop which is a specialty store.

Speaking of kefir, I had to order more grains. I let mine sit too long and they dies. Poor things! I will start it back up and drink 2-3 glasses a day like I used to!

Got all of Stephen's Christmas bought. Did it in 5 minutes on Amazon. We aren't spending much anyway, so I found him a couple of new games. One was on sale, too! Yay! Hope I get Cathe downloads! Or workout stuff! Whatever he gets, it'll be good. He always does good even it it's something completely off my list.

Office Christmas party is Wednesday. I'm not looking forward to it. Stephen won't get there until late because he'll be giving his students their exam at 3:30 that day. He's taking one of his finals as I write this. I'll be glad when this week is over and he's done!

Puppies kept me up all night last night. They only went out once, but Peanut was restless and kept going under the blankets then out and Milo kept smacking his chops right by my ear. At 6 am, kitty woke me up heaving. Had to put him out of the bedroom to puke on the floor instead of the carpet. I should have stayed up and worked out, but I went back to bed for another hour. Sigh. Hope they sleep tonight. I'm tired.

Going to go find a Christmas movie to watch tonight. Maybe. Not sure. I should read.

I am taking a rest day today.

I'm ashamed to admit that that workout whupped me bad. I could only manage 3 rounds. You had to do the whole round without stopping so it was 5 minutes of hard cardio, then a short rest and then repeat for 4 more rounds. I guess I was just tired last night. My sisters were happy that I cut it short. We ended up taking a mile walk afterwards which I guess wasn't too bad.

Alisha ~ I'm sorry about your internet connection but it seems like you have a nice place to go to relax and surf. In January or February I plan on doing a similar eating plan although I'm not completely giving up grains, I'm just limiting them to only one meal for the day. I'm glad your ears are good.

Tricia ~ There is Hobby Lobby in Tallahassee. It was here for over a year before I walked in there. You are going to LOVE it. We are having a Christmas Luncheon next Monday. I'm not looking forward to it. It ends up being work for me. I have to go out and pick up lunch and set everything up plus now I have to buy a gift card for my boss for the gift exchange we do. At least I'm having the intern put up our Christmas tree. I hope the puppies let you sleep tonight.
 
Jane - That was one tough looking workout! I may have to give a go this weekend just to embarrass myself and make you feel better! :p

It may be a bad idea to go to the Hobby Lobby, but I'm hoping to at least pick up some more kumihimo strands to make another one and get the finishing stuff I need for the one I'm holding onto.
Sorry you're stuck with all the work on the luncheon! :( Someone should at least offer to help!

I'm going to be on my own for most of the party tomorrow night with Stephen giving his students their exam, but I'm not going to go right away. I'll hang out here for a bit. Besides, it'll take me a while to figure out what to wear that isn't too embarrassing!

Not much going on. Is it golf season again yet? Sigh. I miss golf!

Stephen's Christmas presents and my chia seeds came today! Yay! All I have to do is wrap 3 video games and stuff his stocking with them and I'm done! Still gotta go get treats for the pets for their stockings. I wish they liked toys! We've spent so much money on toys they never play with. Poor kitty would play, but Peanut can't stand it when kitty gets to play and she barks at him and runs him off. Jealous. Funny that she can still tell when he's having fun even though she can't see it!

I decided to do Gary Bromley Yoga Class DVD. Its 50 minutes. I'm a little tired today. I will do a cardio workout tomorrow before breakfast.

I zig-zagged a little today. I had a nutella crepe and a hot chocolate. It was so good. I do allow myself some treats, but I am doing much better overall. I did do SB (South Beach) at breakfast and was so full I didn't need anything until 4:30 pm. I guess that diet really works.

It will be rainy and icy cold tomorrow.

Jane- Great job on your workout. I'm sorry the holiday party is a drag.

It is rainy and cold today. Boo...I was going to go for a run but I'll have to wait until tomorrow. I will do a indoor weight workout tonight.

Alisha ~ I'm glad you are doing well on your eats. Little treats now and again keep me in line the rest of them time.

Tricia ~ Have at the workout and let me know how you do. I'm going to try it again at some point.

I did my workout before breakfast today. Yeah me! I did Kathy Smith's Kick box workout on the Aerobox DVD. I burned 300 calories. I did zag at lunch, I had some organic stoneyfield ice cream. It was so good. I am being good most of the time. I have successfully avoided bread this week. I was not sure how I would do. I had gotten in the habit of eating a few slices here and there, now I get a small piece of cheese or yogurt and I am doing a lot better.

My ears still get a little red and then look good again. I have no idea what is the deal there. I'm not auditioning for Rudolf any time soon:eek:

I will do Kathy Smith's Weight Loss Workout (strength/Hi/Lo).

Jane- I hate it when the weather doesn't co-operate with my workout schedule.

Tricia- Did you try that workout of Jane's?

I missed this morning workout. I slept in. I did eat well this morning (yogurt, almonds, and an ounce of cheese.) I'm still without internet. I might do something this evening. I will be buying apples for pies, my Mom has a potluck at work on Tuesday.

I did not workout yesterday. It was cold, rainy, damp and dark. My body wanted to hibernate so that's what I did. The rain has stopped so I'm going for a run tonight even though it will be cold and dark and maybe a little damp. Tomorrow the sun will be back! :)

Alisha ~ I'm glad you are doing well with your eating. Yay!! I bet it's nice to sleep in a bit. Apple pie...yummy!

Alisha - Yucky weather! Weird about your ears. Good thing Rudolph won't be out of a job this year! Glad you're doing well with the SB plan! A little treat now and then doesn't hurt.

I have not done the workout yet. Probably this weekend.

Jane - What's with all the crappy weather? Sun, sun! How was your party?

Ours was fun, but it was really LOUD! Lots of people this year. Couldn't fit in ANYTHING yesterday. Ended up in a sweater dress, but I looked so fat! I didn't touch the appetizers after that. Most are fried or wrapped in bacon. They are delicious, but figured I didn't need them. Stephen made it there just before 7 and still got to eat. I almost didn't get to eat anything! All I ever have is pasta from the pasta station, but all the sauces were cheesy! I was about to walk away when the chef said he could heat me some marinara and penne. I had a little of that. We were home by 9, but I was still very tired today. I'm too old for all that stuff anymore! My stomach has hurt all day. Not sure why I had 2 small glasses of wine and had a small McCallan with Stephen when he got there. That may have been it. I'm not used to drinking scotch much any more. Ugh.

Too tired for B&G tonight, especially all 78 minutes. I did a burpee for my group challenge at least. Going to go start some baked fries and salmon for dinner tonight. Stephen should be home in about an hour or so.

Happy Saturday!

Yesterday was a rest day. I also took an unplanned vacation day as well. When I went to leave for work yesterday morning I noticed that there was water all over the driveway. After further investigation I noticed that water was coming out of the meters in the ground in our yard (where the cutoff valve is for the water). I called the City and they came out at around 8am. They cutoff the water and pumped out all the water. Unfortunately it was not a City problem and I needed to call a plumber. One of the seals or gaskets split. I had to call a couple of plumbers and I finally got one out at about 12:15. By the time he was finished it was close to 1:30 so it wasn't worth it to drive the 30 minutes to work. It was slow anyway and I do have vacation to use so it wasn't a waste. The repair only cost $75 so that was a good thing too.

Today I ran my last 5K of the year and it was less than a mile away from my house. I ran this race last year but they changed the course and added a 1/2 marathon. There were only about 30 or so people that ran the 1/2 marathon. This was an out and back course and it was hilly. There were at least 4 big hills. My time was good but not as good as it as been in the past. My twin sister and my older sister ran the race as well so that was fun.

I am staying home and taking care of some chores and writing out some Christmas cards.

Tricia ~ Our office party is Monday. I am not looking forward to it but I'm glad it will be over with on Monday. We have a gift exchange and of course I had to buy something for my boss who is not going to be there but will be on the phone. I got an Amazon gift card because I actually want that gift. I hope I get it. We do the exchange where you pick numbers and then you can steal the gift from another person if you are want. It is better is be higher up in the numbers because you have more choices.

Internet is back!

My brother fixed it this morning. I slept in again. I'm just not myself yet. I did some yoga yesterday and I plan to do some tonight. Tomorrow will be a 4 mile walk with Leslie Sansone.

Jane- Good job on your race, I'm sorry about the plumbing.

Tricia- I'm sorry that you were feeling fat the other day, I hate that feeling! At least salmon helps with fat loss.

Alisha - Yay for internet! :D Sorry you aren't feeling quite up to snuff! :( Sending you some healing energy! Glad your dad and brother were around some this weekend. I wish salmon would just melt it away! I'd eat it every day for every meal! lol

Jane - Nice work on that race! It sounds like a tough one! Sorry about the water problem! I'm glad it was a relatively easy and cheap fix. I just hope it doesn't make your water bill soar for this month! I like those types of gift exchanges! I hope you get the gift card back, too! Hope the party goes okay.

I have been keeping up with my burpee challenge. I actually should go do my 4 sets of 4 before dinner. I just finished up a batch of turkey and dumplings with leftovers from Thanksgiving that I had stored in the freezer. Waiting on Stephen to finish his game of Halo to eat.

Work for one more week, then I'm off all of Christmas week. I was going to make some zucchini chips tonight, but I pooped out after making dinner, my parsnip rice for lunch this week and a batch of kefir water. I'll do them tomorrow night. They'll have to sit in the dehydrator all night anyway.

That's about all I've got for the whole weekend. Pathetic, huh? :p

I took yesterday as a rest day after all. I was just not digesting my lunch and wasn't able to do yoga in the evening (can't have it coming up on me.) I will do my yoga in about 20-30 min. I'm dressed. I'm just still a little tired. I will do 4 miles with Leslie Sansone this afternoon.

Tricia- Its not pathetic, I always think that your raw foods sound so exotic.

Yesterday I ran 10 miles.

Today will be some sort of upper body workout but most likely inside because it is raining.

I am very tired as we had our Christmas luncheon this afternoon and I was running around all morning. I did end up with the Amazon Gift Card but I went through 4 gifts before I got it. I originally got a Target Gift Card which was fine but then someone took it from me. I then took the Amazon card that someone already had. Then someone took it from me and I took a little basket with chocolates, a water bottle and 2 lottery tickets. Then that was stolen from me and I opened a new package and got a Home Depot card, that was stolen from me and I took back the Amazon card. It wasn't as festive as it could have been because we had an hour long boring meeting and then we had to rush through the gift exchange because some people had conference calls.

Alisha ~ I'm glad the internet is back!

Tricia ~ It's always nice to have a relaxing weekend. I'm looking forward to next week when I will be off for 4-days.
 
Jane- I'm worn out just reading all of that! Great job on your run.

Tricia- Did you feel like getting some exercise today?

I didn't really feel like it this morning. I might do Belly Dancing or Kick it! later today. Its ttotm this week, so I'm a bit tired. However, I am pleased to report that my ears looked good yesterday and today. :D I have to go to the bank and deposit a check, pick up some veggies at the store, and I might have some salmon for lunch.

There are only 4 of us in the office today. I was the only on here until about 10:30 this morning.

Hi ladies!

I can't believe I forgot to check in last night! I also forgot to do my burpees, so I'm skipping Day 5 and moving straight into Day 6 tonight. That's gonna hurt!

Alisha - Take your time getting back into the swing. Hope you were able to workout without barfing today!

Jane - I like the basic workouts! This is a good one too! I could even do it inside! May have to try it tomorrow and add on my burpees, if I can remember too! Sorry you had to rush through the gift exchange. That's the best part of any Christmas party! I am glad you ended up with the gift you wanted! Yay!

I hope we get to move to the Pacific northwest! Stephen said when he was up in Seattle dealing with the boat you could get salmon everything and for every meal! Woo-hoo!

No workout today - again. I have been so busy at work lately that it's wearing me out. I came home today and worked on my kefir water, started some laundry, washed dishes, washed a few wine bottles getting them ready for next Friday so we can bottle the Pinot Noir. I just finished and came on here to catch up. We'll do dinner next and feed the pets - NOT in that order! lol

I keep telling myself I'd get it done if I got up in the morning and did it. I really would. I did my best when I was doing that before. I've been having to get up with the puppies a lot at night though which means I don't get a lot of quality sleep. Sigh. What to do? My best time is 11 a.m., but I can't do that. I could do it at lunch, but I don't have enough time and I wouldn't be able to shower either. Yuck! I don't know. At least I'll be off next week and can workout then. We shall see what happens. I really need to revamp myself for 2013. I MUST do better!

Exactly one week to Christmas! I need to wrap the few presents I have for Stephen. We had a teeney budget this year because of the car, but I managed to get him 3 new XBox games! One was on sale, cheap, so I went just a few bucks over my limit to get it. He'll be happy!

Well, gotta run. I'm being whined at and, no, not by Stephen! :eek: Milo is dying for some attention and probably some food!

I am going for a run tonight. It's beautiful outside.

Tricia ~ You need write your workouts on a calendar. Start out with 3 days of week and see how you to for January. Adjust for February and so on. If it is on the calendar, you can plan your week accordingly...but put the workouts on first.

Sorry workout has been so busy. Things are getting quiet around here but I still have stuff to finish up before next week. I hope we get to leave early on Xmas Eve as I want to be able to workout before heading to mom's house.
