Jillian Michaels DVD review

My cousing gave me a 5 dvd set of Jillian Michaels workouts for my bday in april. Just tried the first 2 yesterday. WOW. I have watched Biggest Loser before but these workouts are a challenge. They are only 29-32 min long, so I did 2 for one day's workout. She splits them into working your front side and back side. The are circuit-ish, because you will do bootcamp style cardio to warm up and then move quickly through the weight training and push ups, etc.and then she throws in more cardio here and there so your heart rate is always very high. It was a great work out. I am very sore. I am used to 6 days a week with Cathe and I thought her dvds would be easy, quite frankly, I was wrong. Highly recommend for the hardness factor...but she is NOT good at cueing, her movements are totally akward, she was very akward in front of the camera and her wardrobe was bad. I bring up these things only because it make you realize the high quality work that Cathe puts out there. She is such a wonderful instructor. All that said, I will be adding these dvd's into my routine for a while. Just thought I'd share!:)

I hear her new DVD (Shred) is incredible! I have not done any of them, but I frequent another board and they love it!

I have 30-Day Stred and like it very much. It is a quick and intense cardio workout, even though she uses a 3-2-1 method:

3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio, 1 minute abs. It's only strength training for us if we use heavier dumbbells because she uses very light weight. I upped the weights and it was a short and intense workout that kept my heartrate up. I'm using it as added cardio now to get into shape to do some hiking at Sequoia National Park in a couple of weeks.

I also ordered the 5 dvd set because I liked 30 day shred and thought it would add some cardio variety to my routine. Her routines are under 30 minutes, and that is easy to squeeze in. Edie
