Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook

Anyone have this or tried any recipes? I see that it is currently sold out and I'm wondering if it is any good. I'm always trying to get my 5yo DS to eat some veggies(very picky) and "hiding" them in brownies every once in a while might help. I know it may not be the healthiest way but besides fruit and salads, that is all the boy will eatx( Anyway, just wondering if I should save my money or give it a try. Thanks for the input. Have a great day;-)

My neighbor had seen this book on Oprah and purchased it from Walmart. It does have some interesting receipes, but I haven't tried them yet.

I did tacos the other day, and I hid spinach it in. Ditto with chili. Also add 1/3 oatmeal and one frozen small box (thaw out and drain) of spinach, add spagetti sauce. My children attended a Williams and Sonoma cooking class and this is one of the receipes. Also this receipe is great for meatloaf and meatball as well. Annette

I ordered it from Books A Million, it will arrive today by UPS. I saw the Oprah show the other day it looks great. But I also read on Amazon reviews that she took the concept from the book called "The Sneaky Chef". So I ordered that one as well.

If you go on Oprah.com she has a few recipes that you can print for yourself, the brownies are one of the recipes. I personally think the concept is great. My kids eat fruits and some veggies but not a ton. Last night for dinner we had chicken breast using broccoli and egg to moisten the chicken for the bread crumb and flax seed meal topping. I usually make some type of Rice or Noodle roni, we had that with a half cup of pureed cauliflower and cut up apple on the side (everyone emptied their plate). We tried the mac and cheese reciepe (off Oprah.com) but the kids didn't like it, they are used to the Kraft type mac and cheese. For breakfast, my kids always have frozen waffles, now I sprinkle alittle flax seed meal on them to eat. I'm not sure if I will by the book, I will just add pureed veggies to the things they already eat. So far it has worked well for us. I loved grocery shopping today because I bought a bunch of veggies that I know will not go to waste! Lunches are the best, mac and cheese gets a half cup of sweet potato, cream of potato soup gets a scoop of cauliflower. Adding the pureed veggies adds taste and moisture to whatever I make so I think they like it more! I would check out the website before buying the book, you may get enough ideas there.

Good Luck
Diane

I have it on hold at my local library. I hope I don't forget about it. I really need some new ideas, DD started part-time daycare and she is not eating as well as she used too. Anytime there is a change in her life, her appetite changes, hate that!!

Thanks for all the suggestions and the weblink. I didn't think they would post a lot of recipes so that she could sell more books. I'm going to have to try some of those ideas, especially for the soup, we are having that for dinner. Maybe DH won't even notice, I've got to hide his veges too;-)
