This is Jason. He is a rescue that has been with my group for a while. He came to us heartworm positive and looked awful. He has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm negative. He is up to date on all his shots and has been neutered. Jason not only looks like a big ole teddy bear (and yes, his ears really are like that all the time), that's how he acts! He is one of the sweetest boys I know. He LOVES to cuddle and is very mellow. When Jason comes to adoptions, two young girls (age 9 and 10) use him as a pillow. He loves it! Jason is in desperate need of a forever home as he is now being boarded at a vet clinic (because of lack of foster homes) and only gets two bathroom breaks a day. Otherwise, he spends all week in a cage only to come out for Saturday adoptions days. Please forward this to anyone you know who might be able to help Jason. If I didn't have five dogs already, he would be MINE!

If you know anyone that is interested in Jason, please visit www.aidingandapetting.com or PM me.

Jason is in Roswell, GA.

Lorie,
I was just on the website that you have a link to on your post and I want all of those animals! (especially Sebastian, Jason, and Arthur the cat!!!) I live in CT and I see that most of the animals are in GA. Does your group only adopt locally or do you do adoptions out of state? If so, how do I get the animal? Do you provide transport or is that my deal? TIA!!!

Allison

Oh, Jason looks like my old dog Fenton who was simply the sweetest dog I have ever had. My DD who was 4 at the time could crawl all over him and he just sat there and wagged his tail. I miss that dog!

Allison,

There are animal "underground railroads" where transport can be arranged. We also have a volunteer who is a pilot and he flew an animal to Tennessee from Georgia. Not sure his small plane could fly to CT. Sometimes, people will fly the dog to them on regular airlines.

Sebastian is a really sad case. He is simple deteriorating in boarding. His hind legs are starting to bow and seem unable to hold his weight. He seems depressed as well. So sad...

Hi Lorie,

Does your group work with any shelters up North that take in animals from overcrowded places down South?

I know of at least one Humane Society here in VT that has brought dogs up here for adoption from an overcrowded shelter in Virginia (I think it was Virginia).

I participated in a transport for the Boxer rescue that we adopted Rascal from. It was an incredibly rewarding experience.

We would love to be able to "ship" dogs up north. We are in such dire straights with so many thousands of animals being killed because of over-crowded shelters. The shelters up north are not as crowded. The problem is finding transport. I wish...

He is gorgeous. I hope he finds a nice home. My heart goes out to all these dogs. I have my hands full right now. I know that when I'm ready, I will go to the boxer rescue. So many dogs need good homes ;( .

RE: Jason update

Hi guys...just wanted to resurrect this thread and add some new information. I just could not bear the thought of Jason spending every single day in a cage in boarding (with only two small breaks to go to the bathroom) so I brought him home. Let me first say that I have a very established pack of five dogs. VERY intimidating for a new dog to come into. Well, he is just perfect. He defers to my alpha dogs (actually he defers to all of them), has perfect house manners, and knows basic commands (sad, because that means that someone took the time to teach that to him). He absolutely LOVES to cuddle and will cuddle anytime as well as roll over for belly rubs. He loves to be with his people. He shows zero signs of aggression as I can even take a treat right out of his mouth. He just seems so happy to be in a home and loved.

He really would make a wonderful companion. My heart hurts because if there was ANY WAY I could keep him, I absolutely would without a moment's hesitation. The problem is, we already have too many dogs and could get in trouble.

I love him and will wait until I can find him the perfect home as he is the perfect dog. Please forward this to anyone you know who is looking for a beatiful, well-behaved, loveable, sweet, and perfect dog and companion.

RE: Jason update

Lorie - you or the animal shelter might want to contact Last Chance Arkansas (www.lastchancearkansas.org) . It's a volunteer group that's linked up via the internet with other animal rescue groups throughout the U.S. and Canada. Of course they're focused on rescuing animals in Arkansas, but maybe they can be of some help, too. The internet links allow animals in various states to be viewed. And this organization has an agreement with Northwest Airlines to provide free transportation anywhere in the U.S. for a rescued pet.
