Jari Love - love her body

Hello everyone,

I just purchased the Jari Love 3 pack DVD; Get Ripped: Slim & Lean, Get Ripped and Ripped To The Core and after previewing the workouts I have to say that I LOVE Jari's body. She is very lean and muscular, it's the type of body I'm aiming for. Although in some of the cover shots she looks a little bit anorexic - big head on a small body, but she does not look unhealthy.

Can anyone tell me if they think Jari uses heavy weights at all? Or does she only uses the 8# dumbbells for the Ripped workouts? Is this body achievable with low weights high reps or heavy weight training?

I haven't tried the workouts but they look tough, I think I will like them.

i believe that I remember someone asked her..and she does also lift heavy..like maybe once a week, but she does utilize her ripped routine, as well as controlled strict eating. I can not remember where I read this...vf..yaya's etc?? Does she have a forum on her site or a bio??

I did her workout once, and did not like it. I really prefer Cathe's body type, especially in her newer videos. She is tight and lean without looking too thin and muscular. But she still has a little "softness" to her that she lacked in her Gym Styles series. She looked harder in those workouts, but not as pretty or happy as she does now, in my humble opinion.
I think Jari Love is too skinny looking. I just like Cathe better!:)

Yen, why do you love Jari's body? I'm just curious because I think she is too thin in her videos, and I'm not fond of that look. I can understand why an instructor would lose weight for a video, so that the viewers can see the definition clearly, and see the muscle working. But for the average woman of child-bearing age, I don't think that low level of body fat is healthy.

I often see women over the age of 65 around the city who look like that, and I think it's okay for them. Older people are more spry when they're thin, their blood pressure is lower, and they live longer. But I don't think it's appropriate, or attractive, for women of child-bearing age.

Yen,

I like S&L. I don't think Jari looks unhealthy-thin though. Didn't she used to be overweight? I think she talks about being overweight on the S&L dvd. She looks like her body type would be an ectomorph if she slimmed down without working for any muscles. I only mention an assumed body type for Jari because no matter how much I worked out, my body would never come close to looking like hers. I'm more athletic looking. In fact, S&L helped build my muscles!!! I would have to starve myself without lifting anything over 3 pounds to be that thin. No thanks!!!

>I think she way too thin. She looked aneroxic in her
>videos...
I agree, except for her first workout, where she is by no means 'heavy,' but looks a healthier thin. In her other workouts, you can pften see her ribs, which I find somewhat disturbing.

I much prefer the physique of "Laurie," one of her background exercisers, as she has a healthy looking, balanced muscle to body fat ratio.

I like her workouts but I have to disagree with you about how she looks. She appears anorexic to me and could easily stand to put on a good 20 pounds.

She is almost waif looking in Ripped 1000. Jari and Laurie have gotten progressively thinner with every release. I hope Laurie does not get to thin. Jari's bony ribs in the last release 1000 just trouble me. She says she is very, in her words, vigilent about what she puts in her mouth. She is too thin for my taste. I do like her workouts and do them on occation.

I've never used any of her workouts, but I just looked at a clip on her website. Too me, she looks positively skeletal... almost freakishly so. I think if I ever got that thin, someone in my family would talk me into seeking medical help!

I agree. There is definitely something wrong when every bone in someones body can be identified through their skin. Although I sometimes do her DVD's when I am looking for an endurance-type strength workout, I definitely do not strive to have a body like hers. I want to look strong and lean. She looks as though she'd snap in half if she tripped off of her step. We need our fitness role models to look strong and healthy in order to promote healthy body images, especially with such a prevalence of eating disorders and related diseases in today's society. I, personally, strive to look more like Cathe.

Take care,

Ady

I really like Jari's workouts! I just got finished doing the original Ripped. Something about the workouts just clicks with me. I agree with Kathryn-Laurie looks very fit and healthy! :) Her transformation has been inspiring and amazing. (She's on Jari's website with before and after pictures.) I thought Jari was very thin but figured that was just her body type-I didn't pay as much attention to the ribs showing as I should have....it does sound pretty scary now that you mention it.

I just did S&L today and didn't really notice anything in particular about her being too thin,i also thought it was just her body type! I did notice Lauries(blonde)Body and envied her definition!

I loved S&L today,it's a good workout! I did however miss Cathe!!:)!!!!!Think I'll do one of hers tommorrow!

I also think Jari is too thin. It always bothered me that her workout pants were baggy in Slim and Lean. They are not the kind of pants that are meant to be baggy but she's so skinny they just blouse out in the weirdest places on her.

I agree with all who think Jari looks skeletal. Even if it were possible for me to achieve that look, I wouldn't want to. Consider, too, that the camera makes *everyone* look a little bigger, so what does she actually look like in person? I shudder to think.

I think she looks too thin. When she does lunges or squats I always think her legs are going to snap.

When my DH sees the instructors on the DVDs he's usually amazed at their muscles and strength, when he saw Slim & Lean he commented on how thin she was (and he doesn't normally notice that kind of thing).

Like someone else said, the camera is supposed to make you look 10 pounds heavier, so if she looks 10 pounds lighter than that ...

I do like Slim & Lean though. It's a good workout. I'd much rather look like Laurie (though I'd have to be about a foot taller with all the length added on my short dumpy legs!);)

> Jari and Laurie
>have gotten progressively thinner with every release. I hope
>Laurie does not get to thin.

I found myself thinking "if this is the result of doing 'Ripped' workouts, it's not a motivation for me to keep doing them! I also hope Laurie doesn't get any thinner. I think she's fine the way she is.
