RE: Jilly, Dani, Miss Debbie, Tuck Jump Princess, Everybody...

I'm more a lurker than a regular poster, but want to say, first off, how much I truly enjoy coming on the forum and reading about everyone's triumphs and tribulations. This forum has been a blessing (or escape) for me in many ways and I want to thank everyone for taking the time and sharing so much about yourselves!

For me, 2004 is going to be the year I try to go with the flow a little more, to not get upset about what other people choose to do, or not do, for that matter. My mother was diagnosed in January 1997 with early onset Alzheimer's at the age of 59, so it's now going on seven years of dealing with one of the hardest family issues I've personally had to experience. A lot of my struggles come from dealing with her care, family involvement, etc., and so I am going to focus more this year on MY involvement and try not to worry so much about what everyone else is (or isn't) doing. I have two young children (5 and 2) and I tend to beat myself up a lot for not spending as much time with my mom as I should, and I want to learn to tell myself that my kids need me just as much, if not more!

I really am hoping to kick my fitness level up a notch and want to make my workout time a TOP priority, instead of juggling it with everyone else's schedules. I'd love to become an a.m. exerciser, but that may be next year's resolution!

Enough rambling. Have a wonderful and blessed New Year, everyone! Thanks again!
Michele

Dani - So sorry to hear about your loss. I know how tough death of a loved one can be. My thoughts are with you, sounds like you are keeping his memory alive.

Jillybean - Your posts are always so inspiring. You and Debbie are my 2 favorites.

Best to everyone in 2004, may we all acheive and surpass our fitness goals. What a great group this is :)

Year Two-Kay-Three was a fairly moderate one for me in terms of triumphs AND tribulations. As far as fitness goes, it was the year in which David The DVD Player (my beloved 5-disc programmable) was adopted in full force into the household, and I switches my whole Cathe Collection over to DVD . . . and discovered a whole new world of intensity and variety possibilities. Fitness-wise it was also the year in which I refined my aqua training and instruction even more, to maximize leg conditioning even more meaningfully.

In other areas, DH and I discovered the joys of Washington DC, and my "day job" was moved from a grant-funded one to a permanently funded one, no small matter in these still troubled economic times.

The absolute best thing to happen to me was having a few devoted exercisers become friends of mine in person as well as online. To my beloved Killer Bees: thanks for your friendship. It means everything to me.

Best ever for 2004, all! I don't really "do" New Year's Resolutions, but all the best for yours!

(Oops, I forgot: I also went bald.)

Michele!

I am sorry to hear about your Mom. How hard this must be for you. From what I have heard/read, Alzheimer's is such a sad disease. How very fortunate your Mom is to have you! I do agree that you need "YOU" time and time with your kids too. I'm so glad you found Cathe's place because you are right...it IS a blessing! Post anytime. There is always a listening ear here if you need it. Thinking of you and wishing you a very Happy New Year too!

You're always a breathe of fresh air! How is your "hair" coming along? Any more growth? Doesn't matter as you are beautiful inside and out!

Kathy, it's nice to see you back. :) Thanks so much!

So sorry about your mom Michele. You sound like an amazing daughter and mother. You can only do so much and I think you are doing great! Don't beat yourself up. I like what you said about trying not to get upset about what other people choose to do, or not to do. I need to do this as well, and will make this one of my goals too. :)

RE: Deb-BEEEEE!

Thank you for your kind words! The follicles are making a strange and sporadic comeback; I know have a 5:00 shadow on MOST of my scalp even after my a.m. shave, with a few little pink circles here and there. I'm so used to the bald look by now that if and when I ever grow my hair back it'll be like a dog with a dorsal fin . . . "hair on A-Jock's head? NO WAY!"

Best ever in Two-Kay-Four!
