I have 2 questions:
1) Is everything okay with Kristen as I have not seen her in the last 3 or 4 Live Cathe's and hope all is okay with her??
2) It would be a great help if when Cathe is saying do this or don't do this or that if the camera man would have the camera on Cathe and not on the audience as I have no idea what she is referring to because the camera doesn't go back to Cathe until after she has demonstrated it:(

Thanks for your input---I definitely was looking for what she was trying to show in today's class and by the time the camera got back to Cathe the demo was over:( But posting this info here does it get seen by anyone who can address the challenges or suggestions we may have as the audience?

Was glad to see some great modifications in this one, not only on the cardio, but
other exercises as well. I do wish the camera would stay on Cathe when she shows
modification, there were 2 times when she showed apparently showed something different, and the camera wasn’t on her…if it wouldn’t have been for the fact that a couple of the girls were doing it, we would not have known what the modifications were.
This was from before - 5/18/24
and Cathe’s reply

I completely understand what you’re saying. But it’s one of the difficult situations of live workouts. I literally create these after work on Wednesday (the night before we do them Thursday morning). This keeps it true to the live vibe. But with that, nobody knows what’s coming next, including the camera guys. So it’s hard for them to switch angles when I show a modification because by the time they switch I would most likely already have moved past it and on to something else.
While that situation isn’t always ideal I do like the trade-off of having a fresh weekly “surprise” workout to add to the DVD/OnDemand studio workouts ❤️
That would be hard for the camera operators, so maybe showing the change or modification right before the move while camera is still on her, that would help.
then it wouldn’t matter during exercise while camera was.

Hi Disey… I understand your concerns with modifications not being shown in time. That’s one of the tough things with being LIVE. Nothing is scripted. Nothing is discussed prior to filming. It’s just live! Everything is real time and I’m shooting from the hip. The camera crew have no idea what I’m going to do so there’s that difficult balance of showing members participating in the class for variety and engagement while also just keeping the camera on me in anticipation of me giving a demonstration/modification. I also have no idea when I am on the camera so I am giving a class the way I would give any class. Another thing that’s tough that many don’t realize is randomly switching to another camera takes about 10 seconds to set up/happen so I’m not sure if there is a way around this situation but I will take your suggestion into consideration.

I know you also asked about Kristin and she is fine :) It truly is very sweet of you to be concerned but please understand that I make it a point to not discuss the personal lives or ongoings of any of our class or cast members as to respect their privacy. Participants will always have times or things that come up and keep them from coming to class. Each Thursday I just enjoy everyone who shows up “at home and in the house” and let the workout adventure begin ❤️

@Cathe Friedrich so cool of you to respond - I was wondering if you might try a mini screen down in the lower left or right corner that just has one camera that is always focused on you while the full view has the flexibility to switch between you and your participants.

I don't do any film work so have no idea if that's even possible or not - just throwing it out there.

Anyway, just here to say that I really have been enjoying your live downloads lately. It's a fun and different energy from your scripted workouts. Of course I love those, too.

One thing I really wanted to say is that I appreciate the occasional lives I've come across where you're recovering from an injury and demonstrate self-care by using lighter weight on the affected arm. It's encouraging me to give that approach a go with my ever-present tennis elbow. I get paranoid that I'll develop some major imbalances if I don't train with the same weight on both arms, so have usually reduced the weight to compensate on BOTH arms, not just the arm that's recovering. I'm curious to try it out. Anyway - thank you as always for all the great workouts over the years.

Thank you so much for your response...I think it is awesome that you actually read and respond to your audience's questions, concerns and challenges. That resonates in a great way!!!
THANK YOU:)
Also, I understand and respect that you do not disclose anyone's personal lives and I did not expect you to divulge any info ---just knowing all is okay is all I was concerned with....so thanks for that as well.

Glad you’re enjoying the live workouts so much and the modifications too. Tennis elbow is tricky. Physical therapy exercises are great for it.

I am not sure how anyone else would feel about this...I am ok if the camera didn't move and simply stayed on Cathe for the entire workout. Aesthetically, I wonder if some like to see a different view during the workout and like that the camera person is moving around. For me, I am focused on Cathe and doing the workout correctly and i would be good with the camera in the front of the class focused on Cathe. Just a different perspective. ;-)

I like to see Ingrid, on the side too, because she modifies and I really appreciate her in the lives. The camera angles show cathe, and like to the back on the side is Ingrid and I can see her modifications.
