:DWelcome to the new year ladies!

My mom and dad got me a new Canon 7D Mark two today! I did not expect this gift. I kept saying are you sure you want to do this it's really expensive? But no they decided to get me the new one not even the old one :)

I have been working on a long rotation why? Because it's what I do. I'm starting with the easiest workouts and working from there to the more challenging workouts making sure to include both yoga and strength training. I bought one of those teachers planning notebooks at the dollar store and I'm using that, it's really simple. It's a lot more efficient than doing it in a notebook. It already has the calendar in it. Is it a little obsessive? Maybe, but hey whatever gets me out of bed to work out.

Happy New Year!!!

I started off this morning with my first race of the year. It is the River Run 10K that I have done before. I really love this race as it is run on part trail and part road but it's in a park so there is no traffic. The views are nice and there is a river and a fun steep hill in the middle of 4 miles. It's short but it's nearly impossible to run up it although I'm sure some people do. I don't even know my time but I'm not worrying about my time anymore. I just go out and do the best that I can.

I'm looking forward to eating better. I have been eating lots of crap this holiday season but whatever. It will go away once I get back into my normal routine. Because of my new job (I actually have work to do unlike my old job) I am putting together monthly workouts so we have a schedule and I don't have to figure out what we are doing that day. I have to do that today or tomorrow although it shouldn't take me long. I already know what workouts I need to pull out of my big bag of tricks.

Alisha ~ How exciting that you got a new Canon!! What a wonderful surprise. You certainly deserve it as you always take good care of your family. Enjoy! No it is not obsessive to have your workouts in order. Whatever works. I can most certainly obsessive about things like that.

Tricia ~ Hope is all well with you. Did you do anything exciting so far this year?

I wish both of you ladies health, happiness and prosperity in the new year!

Happy New Year!

Alisha - Wonderful! You're going to love your new camera! Like Jane, I agree, you deserve it! That's what I like about Workout Manager. Puts all my workouts on the calendar so I don't have to think about it or spend 30 minutes scrolling through 300+ workouts to decide what I want to do each day. Nothing wrong with a little obsessive behavior, I say!

Jane - That sounds like a pretty run! I hear ya on the food! Although, there weren't many sweets around - I ended up not baking - I have still eaten a lot of junk food over the holidays, especially while I was home on vacation. Still, I got on the scale today and my weight has only gone up 4 pounds from my lowest weight of last year. That's not bad and I'm not going to complain. I started a Ripped With HIIT/Low Impact Series 30 Day rotation with a few of the girls in the Strong & Lean group on FB. I'm on track so far! I will say that program is tough! It's probably mostly because I'm still so out of shape right now, but WOW!

Nothing exciting for us so far this year. I went with Stephen down to Jamestown on Thursday so he could do the Penguin Plunge. As you know, we did the Polar Plunge in Newport a couple of years ago with most of the office crew. It was about 10 degrees warmer that year than this year! They had a paddleboard race this time, but there were only 3 people. We missed most of that because I slept in really late, then made breakfast before we went.

I plan on attending (or at least trying for it) the Cathe Road Trip this year. I'm afraid that if I wait any longer, I will never do it!

That's about it for me so far this year! I can't wait for golf season! lol

Tricia I think you are very brave to consider going to the Kathy road trip! I don't consider myself enough to survive it!

Jane your river race sounds like a lot of fun :)

I plan to do at least 1 mile today and also about 15 minutes of strength or stability training.

Hi ladies, I did 1 mile this morning and 12 minute total body workout off of my new shape magazine DVD. I hope you guys are getting your workouts and feeling good :)

Hi Ladies!

On Sunday I ran 5 miles. Monday I did an upper body and ab workout. Tonight I ran 3 miles. It is suppose to be in the 20's in the early morning hours. When we ran it was in the 50's but the wind was picking up. We will be around 40 degrees tomorrow, then another cold night and then the warm up begins.

Tricia ~ I hope you get to go to Cathe's road trip. It looks like fun!

Alisha ~ Good job on your workouts. Keep up the good work!

I took a rest day yesterday, and today I'm going for physical therapy/chiropractic care. I was hit in the head

Great job on your workouts Jane keep it up :)

Tricia I know you're working out because I see them posted on Facebook good job

Last night we did an indoor workout using one dumbbell. It was a circuit and then did some abs afterwards.

Tonight will be a running workout with some swings, ball slams, jump squats and other stuff mixed in. It is warmer today.

Alisha-How did you get hit in the head? I hope you are ok.

Hi Tricia.

Happy Friday!

I got hit in the head by my car door, :confused:the Fit has a rear door that opens up, not side to side. I had opened it but my Mom didn't let it open all the way. I didn't realize this, walked in to put my new camera down and voila, the door was lower than I thought and bammo. Smooshed cranium.:( I am supposed to take a day off and then ease back into things. The chiro said I literally knocked my head off. o_O

We are seeing sunny days in the 60s.

Discovered a bakery close to my house. Yippee. Or oh no!:p

Jane good job on those workouts.

Hi ladies!

Alisha - So sorry that your car attacked you! Hope you recovered okay! MMmmmmm, bakery . . .

Jane - You've had some chilly weather! So have we! I'm so done with it already!

I've been working out and doing pretty well with my food. Less junk food, but still not perfect. With all that, I still can't seem to lose any weight. It's making it hard to stay motivated.

I have to wait and see on the Cathe RT. Hoping it's not the last weekend of the month. If it is, it's not likely I could get the days off to go. I'm really hoping it's the weekend before! Fingers crossed!

Not much else going on.

We got a memo at work at the first of this last week. It was't great. They want people to volunteer to take days off without pay in Jan. and Feb. Yeah, like I could afford that! Insurance is going up again, so when our renewal comes up at the end of the month, I'm dreading how much worse the coverage is going to be. We don't pay towards our premiums, but that could change too. We are all holding our breath! Of course, Martin still hasn't retired and he was supposed to years ago, which would have made all this avoidable. He is also greedy as hell, so I'm sure he made out like a bandit when they renegotiated all their contracts last fall. Remember, we didn't get reviews for the first time ever, no raises or bonuses. I'm sure all the partners did! Also, they still threw their expensive client Christmas party with full open bar. It really sucks that we few employees have to pay for all of that! Wish I could just quit! It's all so frustrating!

Looking forward to something good in my life . . . soon.

I took yesterday as a rest day. I went to meet some friends for breakfast at a bagel shop, but I didn't eat anything, just sipped water. Afterwards, I did some grocery shopping, and then I took a nap at home after all that I was tired. Its a good thing too, someone had a very loud party at the lake and played very bad rap music for an hour. We live in a rural community, its annoying when its quiter downtown!

I will be spending today doing data entry. I will take a break and try a Taebo dvd called Taebo Foundation.

Tricia I am so sorry that your job is annoying and that they didn't give you guys your bonuses. You deserve one. I can understand how you feel about working out and eating right and not getting anywhere with it. I have been there oftentimes myself and it is the most annoying. More than once I have found myself just giving up, only to find I gain weight when I stop trying. Ugh!!! I hates it!

Hi!

I ran 10 miles yesterday. Tonight will be an upper body workout. I have a 1/2 marathon next month and I don't want to kill my legs.

Alisha-naughty car! I'm glad you are on the mend. I love Taebo even though I haven't done it in a long time. I still have some of the orginal VHS tapes. I love bakeries.

Tricia-just keep doing what you are doing. With the big M in play we just have to keep doing it and eventually we will make it through.

I'm sorry about your job. That's how it was at my old job. I only got 2 increases in the over 8 years that I worked there. I would suggest that you start looking for a new job. I never thought I would find the job that I did. I thought I would have to take a big cut in my pay but I didn't have to. I'm so glad I made the move. My old company is still struggling and the owner doesn't give a crap. It's nice to work for a company that cares about its employees.

Jane when you're getting ready for a half marathon how do you avoid over working your legs? Obviously less running but you still have to build up your miles. Do you taper?

Tricia how's it going?

I did 35 minutes of a low impact Hilow work out with Jenny Ford from her original spicy step work out DVD. It was fun and low intensity. I'm still easing into things. And it's that time of the month.

Yesterday was a rest day. Tonight will be a 3-4 mile run.

Alisha-I guess I should clarify. I don't do any heavy weight work for my legs or any weight for that matter. So I will still run and maybe do some squats or jump squats but will just do body weight. After doing my long run on Sunday it takes a couple of days for them to thaw out. I will probably do around 10 this weekend, then around 11 for the next 2 weeks or something like that. My 1/2 is on Feb. 8th. In training for the St. Jude 1/2 in December I went up to 12. I'm not sure if I will do 12 miles or not. If I did I would do 12 miles 2 weeks before and then do 10 miles the week prior to the 1/2.

Great job on the workout? How is the family doing!

Hi Tricia.

The family is pretty good. Dad is working. I am between jobs. Had. An offer for a video gig, but my equipment is so old it doesn't work anymore. Mom is enjoying retirement, took her to an art exhibit yesterday. My older brother is not feeling great, he is having a sleep episode. His sleep pattern is erratic.

It's TTOTM, and I am resting. I might exercise tomorrow, depends on how I feel.

Today will a running workout mixed with some other exercises. I had to workout inside yesterday because it rained. I did 40-30-20-10 reps of push up, swings, weighted sit-up and speed skaters.

Alisha- I hope your brother is feeling better. I am looking forward to retirement in about 14years!

Yesterday was my Mom's gallery opening at the Blueline in Roseville. We went for the demo with Gregory Kondos, Mom had taken classes with him in college, over 40 years ago now. She got an autograph. Afterwards, we went to Mimi's Cafe for dinner. I had the sole with potatoes and green beans.

Today is mt saint laundry, if I still have energy I will try this DVD I got from Netflix called Perfect 10 Fitness with Ashley Elizabeth. It is 45 minutes and includes core, flexibility and strength training.

Jane we had fog but no rain. How many miles did you run today?

Happy Sunday! Yesterday was a rest day!

Alisha ~ I ran 11 miles this morning. It went pretty well but my legs are sore. I am trying to do things around the house that involve standing and walking around so my legs will loosen up. I will probably do 11 next week and then 10 the week before the race. I feel good about that. Weather was in the low 40's so it wasn't too cold.

Congratulations to your mom on her gallery opening. That is very exciting! I'm glad you enjoyed your lunch it sounds good. Hope you get your workout in today. I am dealing with Mount St. Laundry too!

Hi there!

Wow! Time is just flying by!

Alisha - Glad you are easing into things and getting some workouts in! Congrats to your mom on the gallery opening! That must have been so exciting!

Jane - Nice work, as always on your runs and workouts! I'm going to try again this spring to get back into running a bit.

I would look for another job, but I'm going to wait to see if Stephen gets enough done on his dissertation to go on the job market this Fall. If he does, then that'll mean we will probably move the next summer. I suspect that if anything happens with the firm, it won't be for a few more years. I certainly will be in a position to just quit by that point! I wouldn't want to relocate to a new job if I can hold out for 2 reasons: One, I could never get the same salary I make now and would have to take a cut, which we can't afford, and 2, I wouldn't want to start a new job. then leave in less than a year.

Last time I was looking for a new job, no one wanted to pay as much as I was asking and I was making much less than I am now and it was before the market crash. Going to hold my breath and see what happens.

Fingers crossed that Stephen plows through his dissertation!

In the meantime, I have been getting the workouts done! Yay, me! Still struggling with the food, but one issue at a time, right? I'm just proud that I've been keeping up this time! lol

I went for a hike yesterday instead of doing that DVD, it was soooo dumb, models with bad skin getting facials and showing cleavage:eek: at the sauna followed by a trainer that had to ' choreograph' balance ball strength training. Yuck. Glad it was a net flick and that I don't :cool:own it.

Tricia I can understand not really wanting to leave good pay. My Mom stayed at her job for the same reason, but now she loves being retired!:D I want to get back in the swing of outdoors workouts like running too. I need some sun.

Jane I am glad it's not too cold for you. Super cold weather makes it hard for me to run because I can't feel my legs.
