Good morning ladies...

Today's workout is Kick, punch & crunch.....Yesterday I did the double upper body premix in BM2 and I have some nice DOMS this morning to remember that workout...Thankfully the soreness is too bad. I can still function....

I need to go back and read yesterday's thread. Vic was using my computer ALL day yesterday except the morning when I posted the thread...Hope everyone is doing well..

Be back later...

Hey Kathy! And everyone to follow ....

Kind of tired this morning. I was DRAGGING every time I got out of bed last night for Zach's blood sugar checks. But it's not going to stop me from tackling 4DS Legs , adding on Legs & Glutes floorwork.

Today is kind of a down day for me. Just gonna hang at home. Catch up on DVR'd "24". Maybe I'll clean out a closet! Fun stuff, huh?

Kathy: WOOHOO on DOMS! Enjoy ;). KPC is a goodie!

Hottie: I didn't know Joe was in journalism? How interesting. But sounds like he didn't enjoy it so much? ... You're so right about the Senate race. But I do believe people voted on the Health Care issue and that they're pissed off at Obama and NOT for the man, Scott Brown. Sad enough, the people of MA now have him for the long haul. .... Whatever, right? Gotta live with the stupid people of MA. (LOL!).

Beth:
Oh my gosh, I saw some pictures in the paper of the storms there! Horrible!! Hope you (and Hottie!) stay safe!! ... I did finally warm up yesterday. I think baking supper in the oven at 450 degrees help warm up the house and me. Finally!

Time to move... BBL!

Good morning all! Hottie and Beth, hope you are both staying safe and dry!

Hottie, I saw all you pics on Facebook. I feel like I know you, but it's nice to put a face with you! You are so pretty! Oh, and Evee is absolutely adorable! Joe, he's kinda cute, too. ;) I have some pics up there, but not too many. Need to put some more up. There's two pictures of Tully, I think.

Chris, sounds like a dream day for me! Relaxing and watching DVR'd TV! Of course, after that leg workout, right?! ;) That's a good idea - to add on the floor work for L&G.

Kathy, KPC is one of my favorite Cathe workouts. Have fun!

My DH, bless his heart, gave Caitlyn her medicine before I got home last night. Not sure how he did it, but it stayed in her. Only three more doses. She was perfectly fine yesterday, no fever, throat looked much better. She's back at school today. Now to just wait and hope no one else gets it.

Today's workout was Hiit Pyramid. Hmmm, not sure what I thought. I could be cause I woke up at 4:30 and wasn't giving it my all, but it seemed easier than 30/30. Not easy, but I didn't have to pause it at all. Just didn't seem that fun, but I guess it's not really supposed to be fun! Then I did 4DS biceps and triceps. Tomorrow is the next Meso 1 Legs.

Tonight is bingo night at school. One of the moms who planned it called and left a message on our voice mail asking if DH could be the caller, because he is such a "ray of sunshine". ;) It was really funny, because he's been quite "NOT" the ray of sunshine at home lately, and he gets that message. We laughed about it. He's going to do it - should be interesting!

Graduation pics for Jameson at school tomorrow. Can't believe he's going to be graduating! Seems like I was just picking him up at preschool! And, I'm going to be the mother of a high schooler. How did I get this old???

Have a good day all...

Joanne

Hey everyone! Well, so much for the worst of the storm being yesterday -- it definitely was worse last night and so far today. I got so lucky to get through my workout again this morning, and I took the flashlight with me to the bathroom, but power still on, but then.... right in the middle of my shower the power went out and it was sooooo dark! Had to feel around for the flashlight once I got out. Driving the kids to school was crazy.... big branches all over the road that I had to drive around. So funny.... yesterday when I got to work someone said "well, the school obviously has power." No, the school has generators. Again, today.....

I pulled out an oldie, but not necessarily a goodie this morning..... Slim Series Shape it Up. I do not know what possessed me to do that!

Chris, I really want to know how you like 4DS legs, because for my 4DS next week I'm thinking of subbing in meso 3 plyo legs, but if you really like you workout, I may not.

Joanne, so glad to hear Caitlyn is on the mend.... and excellent that the meds stayed down last night!! (and even better that you didn't have to do it!). So funny about hubby being NOT the ray of sunshine. Funny because I can relate!!

Was going to stay home and clean my house today, but since the power was out, and the power had gone out at work and Larry wanted me to help make sure things were ok here, I came to work! Back to it....

Hey again, girls...

I did do all of 4DS legs and then added on the floorwork from L&G. I can't even REMEMBER when i did anything from L&G before! NO ball work (yay!), but there were endless glute raises on the high step. And then she does that move where you lay on your side and thrust your TOP leg up in the air, lifting your hip off the ground at the same time  NOT! Actually, that lifting up off the ground KILLS my shoulder. So I just thrust my top leg in and out/up.

4DS Legs was pretty good. It is shorter. But it's good weight for for the lower body. I think adding on the floor work was a good idea. I did warm up, both workouts, and a stretch (from L&G) , and it took 55 minutes total. I did pause a few times too. (to load/unload my weights). .... It is a TOTALLY different workout than Plyo Legs, though, Beth. I'll let you know what my legs feel like tomorrow!

Joanne: I think Pyramid HiiT is a LITTLE easier than 30/30. I think mostly because of the "no equipment" factor. And I think some moves on the step are "funner" than all floor stuff too. (Like running man on top of the step). ... So glad caitlyn is better and got her medicine down! God bless her for even trying. I can see my youngest , Jake, throwing an all out fit and refusing to take it (like the flu shot in the doctor's office). That is so emotionally draining (for the MOM!). ... Too funny about your "ray of sunshine"!

Beth: OMg, not in the shower again? LOL! Yes, at least you got your workout in. What kind of workout is Shape it Up? cardio? Is it tough? ... Those storms sound awful! At least the schools are open. When do they expect them to come to an end?

Hey, I'm heading out to catch a bus to get my H1N1 vaccination -- let's see if I'm actually safe from it this time! No workout but I have been a little busy bee at work. (I want to get something in today either a run at the gym or something at home) It's a good busy -- like a productive one as opposed to an overwhelmed one so so far the mini-vacation was a good thing. Just some quick stuff -- Beth, seriously, you have the lights off on you too much! Joanne, Caitlyn still looks too sweet so I think she's evil! And oh Tully! did you see the videos of evee? I swear, I put on the peanut butter sundae video at work whenever I feel down. Chris, yep, Joe went to J school at USC and that's why I'm here (and the only reason and now I'm stuck!). I wanted to ask how many years for brown for the special election since it can't be the six, right? Kathy, have fun with KPC! And I'm out!!!

Hmmmmm, Chris, you do tempt me. :D I haven't done 4DS legs and L&G -- either one of those -- in forever. Maybe I should stick with that. I'll wait til I hear from you tomorrow. ;) Shape it Up is a total body workout that is supposed to have a high cardio factor, but it has none for me -- I forgot about that. It struck me as so bad this morning that I did something I've never done. I wrote on a post-it my impression of the workout (no cardio factor and the guy with really bad form) so that maybe I'll never do it again. I should just trade it away!

Yes, the power is out a lot.... there are a lot of things that go wrong where I live: power problems, water problems, tree in road problems, critter problems, septic problems, hmmm, shall I go on? Here we just refer to the collective mass as "the mountain tax" and we realize that it all serves as a way to weed out people who don't really like it enough to put up with the bad. But I tell you this..... it makes for a sense of community that I've never before had in my life. Gotta like that. I think we're supposed to get a break from this storm tomorrow or Friday.

I liked hiit pyramid -- it's so interesting to read your comments. I think I really liked it because of the no step factor -- for some reason lately I really hate pulling out my equipment. So funny to be lazy about working out!!

Ok, what's for dinner tonight, people?

Hottie: Good luck with your vaccination! I know H1N1 has simmered down a bit, but last spring is when it THRIVED, and I have a feeling it might resurge. My sister is getting her shot this week too. Busy/productive ROCKS! you go! ....Ahhhhh, the Joe & Hottie story is coming together now! ;) I didn't realize that's where you met.

Joanne: I had to go look at your FB pictures , I'd never seen them. Tully is aDORable! What a poochie pooch face!! Your kids are cute too and that's an awesome picture of YOU!

Beth
: If you have a leg weight day to do, try out the 4DS /Legs & Glutes combo! I kind of liked it! Again, maybe I won't "like" it come tomorrow. You're right, you live in a gorgeous area, and there's stuff you just have to put up with. I never thought of that. Sounds like you guys take it all in stride for the most part. And it's well worth it!

For supper I have some yummy smelling Barbucue Pulled Chicken in my crockpot. I'm serving it on light wheat rolls. (the boys will have chicken cutlets w/ leftover pasta). I got the recipe from a gal at work. It's from Eating Well:

Barbecue Pulled Chicken

From EatingWell: February/March 2006
This fanciful reinterpretation of pulled pork uses chicken and lots of tomato sauce. Have sliced jalapenos, sliced red onions and some sour cream on hand to top this hearty main course.

8 servings | Active Time: 25 minutes | Total Time: 5 1/2 hours

Ingredients
•1 8-ounce can reduced-sodium tomato sauce
•1 4-ounce can chopped green chiles, drained
•3 tablespoons cider vinegar
•2 tablespoons honey
•1 tablespoon sweet or smoked paprika
•1 tablespoon tomato paste
•1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
•2 teaspoons dry mustard
•1 teaspoon ground chipotle chile
•1/2 teaspoon salt
•2 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, trimmed of fat
•1 small onion, finely chopped
•1 clove garlic, minced

Preparation
1.Stir tomato sauce, chiles, vinegar, honey, paprika, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, ground chipotle and salt in a 6-quart slow cooker until smooth. Add chicken, onion and garlic; stir to combine.
2.Put the lid on and cook on low until the chicken can be pulled apart, about 5 hours.
3.Transfer the chicken to a cutting board and shred with a fork. Return the chicken to the sauce, stir well and serve.

Beth, is your power back on at home yet? I have the entire Slim Series (I'm sure that doesn't surprise anyone here! ;)). Yes, kind of boring! I used to put on my own music and do it and that was much better. But, I couldn't get past two weeks of the rotation. I'm sure I'd like Pyramid Hiit better if I tried it again. I just didn't have the energy today. You are so right about the no equipment. I've remembered that's one thing I don't like about 4DS - the room looks like a battlefield when I'm done. It takes five minutes to put everything away. Well, dinner - I've been sticking to making a menu for the week, but tonight is busy - no time for DH to cook before he envelops the bingo crowd in his rays of sunshine! ;) I had tacos planned, but he just told me he's going to get the kids McDonald's. Ick! Oh well, I'll just make a sandwich before going to the school.

Chris, mmm, that pulled BBQ chicken looks and sounds great! I'm planning on doing BBQ pork in the crockpot tonight for tomorrow's dinner. If I had chicken thighs on hand I might try that one. Thanks for the photo compliments. Jameson is mortified I have the picture of them showing their white skinny legs!! They've actually look a lot younger to me in that picture and it was only 6-7 months ago!

Hottie, you're right, Caitlyn does have a streak of evil!! Well, I wouldn't say "evil", maybe precociousness (I can't spell today!). ;) I didn't see the videos at first, but I went back and saw them. Very cute! Evee seems like a very happy, energetic dog! The peanut butter one is so funny. Why does every dog do that - not want to stick their whole snout down into something?

Toodles all...have a good night...

Joanne

Ok, I'm back. I said hi to a couple of Joe's coworkers while I was there and I snuck cookies to the secretaries. They seemed happy for the treats (I don't know why Joe doesn't think of these things). But it was funny, as Joe was helping me with my coat, he says, oh crap, the F-dash is here you're going to have to... and before he could finish I had already had bolted across the ground floor of the very fancy building and basically "nudged" people out of the way until I jumped into bus before the doors closed. Joe texted me later saying that he was impressed with my speed. Now, I'm back avoiding science!

Beth -- I like the mountain tax idea! Yeah, that definitely gives a sense of community. But I gotta tell you, that septic issues can drive me away. Joe says where I grew up (near Cathe) is rural but then when you describe your locale, I'm like, I lived in an up and bustling town!

Chris -- oh no no no no! We did not meet at SC. Actually, how our love story comes together...when we tell it to people, they think we're making it up. But the more blunt way of looking at that part of our relationship was that I had been urging Joe to apply for at least a Masters program to help his resume and the only place that accepted him was the most prestigious of them all (the SC J-school is a big deal on the west coast). And I *was* going to dump him so that I could do my grad degree but then alas! I was a sucker, fell in love, and decided I that as long as I could find a good lab, it didn't matter the school as much. So, i stayed here instead of going back to the east coast, and I was either going to go to UCLA or USC (wasn't going to do Caltech since I did that for UG) and USC impressed me more than UCLA. and THAT'S why i'm stuck here! :) We both in the end are Caltech alums. Oh, Joe would so leave me in a heartbeat to try some of that pulled pork!

Joanne -- The length of Evee's tongue amazes me. I love it when she's at the dog park and she gets so excited that when she plops down it looks like her tongue has been detached from her body. One time I just grabbed to see how long it was and 1) slimy and 2) looooong! I'm not sure about the snout thing either. I'll have to show pictures of my upscaling projects on FB where I made these "water bowls" that evee just loves to put her whole face in...eventually...

ohh...science...calling me....SHUT UP!

Hope ya'll have good evenings!
