Good morning ladies..

Getting us started today...My workout will be the double upper body from Body Max 2....

Gotta get the kids up and start the morning..

Be back later..

Hey Everyone!

I really felt the urge to run today, but alas, the weather sucks. Rain, snow, cloudy, cold. Ick ick ick. Maybe Thursday....

I did do a new Shock Cardio though! :) I did the Pyramid HiiT! It wasn't too bad. I did like that there was no equipment. I GUESS it's not as intense as the other HiiT's (because I didn't feel the urge to spit during it. LOL!). but it still kicks your butt! It's HiiT, ya know? I did Yoga Abs afterwards. Am I the only one that can't do the levetations because it hurts the HECK out of my wrists and fingers? I can NOT hold my hands in that position. Not saying that my core could actually lift my legs, but my wrists KILL like that. Even if I try using fists. The last sequence on that one is hard, though. But felt good! (Plank, to side plank, reaching under, back to Plank, to crocodile, upward dog, downward dog).

I didnt' do too bad with yesterday's chest work with my chest still having a little DOMS. Once I got warmed up, it was ok. It didn't seem as HARD as GS, but I did back off on the chest weights a little.

Kathy: That BM2 upper body is a tough one, if I remember right! Let us know how it goes!

Beth: Hope your storm fizzled out and you have power?

Hottie: You're too funny! you haven't done a good long cardio in forever, and you choose Imax extreme! Dinner and the spa wrap sound very nice , you needed that!!

*waves* to Joanne!!!

Plans today. Going to vote and then hit the grocery store. The senator race here is insane! My phone has NOT stopped ringing with recorded calls from both parties. I know it's bad taste to discuss politics with friends, but though I had a hard time deciding (because I'm very leary about the new Health Care Bill), I have to go with Coakley. Too many other things about Brown I disagree with. And i can't vote for him for ONE bill.

Another thing heavy on my mind. I talked with my sister last night. She told me they saw some sort of growth on her uterus, they're going to biopsy next week. I'm worried for her and feel so upset she has to go through this (even if it is hopefully JUST scar tissue).

Maybe I need some meditation today.

I do feel less fatigued today. Definitely not like last week. Maybe the meditation won't make me feel icky.

I better start on my errands..

BBL!

Oh..a P.S.

I ended up going to jillianmichaels.com/parade and ordering her book for "free" ($4.95 S&H) (Master your Metabolism) and with that you get free membership to her web site for 2 weeks. If you cancel, you pay nothing, if you don't, they charge you $4 a week. I'm definitely cancelling, BUT, it seems pretty cool.

Hi ladies! First I'll report on my workouts, before I forget, and then I'll chat! ;)

Saturday I did Tracie Long's Back Up. Thanks for reminding me about it, Beth, I liked it, especially the stuff at the end with the 3lb. weights. Sunday was the 2nd workout on the new TurboKick. I loved the moves in this one - the music was still a bit low, though, but fun. I decided this week to do 4DS weights with mostly Shock Cardios. So, yesterday was Athletic Step and 4DS chest and back. Chris, don't know how you did that twice! Today was Step Moves with 4DS shouders and core.

Weekend was OK - we hung out with the neighbors Saturday night and had a good time. Soccer game on Saturday and Colin's team lost 13-0. Ouch! Luckily he took it fine. I was a bit concerned about this new league we are in - it's pretty intense competition.

I got a lot accomplished yesterday - found us a cottage in Michigan for July (yea!), we got new windows installed in the dining room, and something else, I can't remember! Oh, got Tully booked at the vet for our vacations.

Hottie, that's an intense workout to jump back into! Glad you a feeling a bit better.

Chris, hmmm, I'm deciding between Hiit 40/20 and Pyramid for tomorrow. So, did Pyramid seem a bit easier? I know, it's all relative! And, NO, I cannot do levitation holds. Or, anything even remotely resembling one. So, you are not alone, for sure! I'm so sorry about your sister - I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

Kathy, I won't say "have fun" with BM2 upper body 2x ;), cause I don't know if that's possible!

Beth, are you having storms? Hope all is OK.

Caitlyn has strep throat - she had a fever, I took her to the doctor and her thoat was bright red and swollen. She kept saying her throat didn't hurt, so I didn't even look at it. She's allergic to amoxicillin so she has the nasty liquid zithromax. Of course she threw it up. It as a huge battle to get it into her. I swear it's not supposed to taste as bad as it does. I tasted it and it tastes like pure rubbing alcohol, but worse. Absolutely horrible. I have a really strong stomach and felt nauseous for about an hour after just putting drop on my finger and tasting it. It's like child abuse getting her to take the stuff. Four more doses. Ugh!! I called the pharmacy and asked if it was possible there was a mistake mixing it. Of course, they said no, that's how it was supposed to be. I'm going to try it with ice cream or something tonight - I'm dreading it already.

Anyway....have a good day all!

Joanne

Hey everyone! I finally found a kettlebell dvd that I really really like -- it's Lauren Brooks' volume 2. Did that, and then as soon as I was getting in the shower, the power went off. Luckily I had taken a flashlight into the bathroom with me. It was kind of a crazy morning with no power. Yes, we are having horrible storms! We're in the middle of five or six, they say, but apparently they are really fast moving, so to most of us it's going to seem like one storm that lasts a few days or so. Today or tomorrow is theoretically the worst.

Chris, good work on 4DS -- sometimes the DOMs seemed help by working the muscle again, but I'm sure you'll feel it tomorrow!! And Kathy, you too -- that premix is so hard, from my memory!

Chris, your senate race is all over the radio here -- going to be interesting to see how it plays out. Sorry to hear about your sister! That is worrisome -- I sure hope it turns out to be nothing serious. Don't forget to cancel that Jillian thing -- put it on your calendar or something -- I would forget!

Joanne, nice work over the weekend -- where's the cabin in Michigan? That reminds me that I need to get something arranged for our Feb. ski trip for the pets.

Sorry about the strep throat! Can they mix a flavor into the medicine to help at all? Or yeah, maybe mixing it with pudding or something? How miserable!! Sometimes a shot would be easier, wouldn't it?

Hottie, how's the storm hitting you? They said we are getting slammed up here, but that we are better equipped to deal with it (more rivers for the water to run to). They said LA is getting hit hard.

Ok, on to work.... I feel so far behind with everything.....

Late morning guys! Upon some encouragement of my therapist, I'm taking today off as well to extend my long weekend. I'm going to try and use it to just chill out a little more. She's been really trying to get me to take more time to recup -- her point was that you aren't recuping if you're sick and you shouldn't think of it like that...besides, if you're going to get paid the crap of academia, you might as well use the flexibility of it! THAT was the most powerful part of her argument! LOL! Though she said that she thinks half of people's problems are sleep deprivation. If you think about it, that's insane! Anyway...I'm going to do some cardio today later, probably MMA. I still have a lot of little houseworky projects to do at home so I'm sure I'll be busy with that during the day (including letting Evee lick off Oreo cookie crumbs off my lip as I type). Poor thing was so sad yesterday...the rains had prevented walking and then Joe and I had left for hours because of the spa and dinner. She seems just happier to chill out on the couch with me. I tried to do some pilates last night but Joe was in the gym doing STS so I tried to do the matwork in the TV room so Evee hopped down and started licking me like crazy. I tell you, it is hard to do crunch while you're getting "tongue exfoliation."

Kathy -- BM2 seems so hard to me right now! Did you see any of the Ryka sale links I posted? I wasn't sure if there were any shoes you liked.

Chris -- I have to check out the Hiit ones. I want to try one maybe on Thursday if I've managed to get enough sleep. i'm going to make an appt so I can get a script for Ativan to help me as the Ambien did didley. The last two nights I've been taking benadryl and melatonin which gives me a good 4-5 but I sure would love 6+. I was thinking about you when reading about the Mass election. I also watched a Rachel Maddow segment where she says in local media (with her guest) the election is a lot more complex than just a referendum on health care where the national media is treating it as such. Do you think that's true? Just curious. I'm sorry about your sister -- you must be stressing out. I hope it's scar tissue as well. Oh about the meditation thingie; so at the spa they told me to go into the steam room for a while to open up my pores to be better suited for the wrap. So I go there with my Zune HD and I hit the gregorian chants that I downloaded the other day to help me chill. All is good until the next song...umm...you guys probably don't know such a crude group but it was the Hollywood Undead's Everywhere I go. It's like a rock/rap group from LA that's so explicit that they couldn't find labels for the longest time to cover them. The song is just loud and crude that I just burst out laughing in the middle of the steam room -- it was like, yeah, this is why I can't chill!

Joanne -- what a good way to mix Shock Cardio with weights. Maybe i'll try that today as well! Yay on cottage! Did you guys install the windows yourselves? I have this dream of changing this ugly sliding doors in our dining room to french doors but I'm afraid of the installation nightmare. Ugh, i hate strep throat. I feel so sorry for Caitlyn. Can she swallow pills yet? I remember there was this one girl in school who was really sick so she could swallow horsepills at such a young age. For nasty liquid medicine, I cock my head back and make Joe pour it to the back of mouth so it doesn't hit the tongue (or taste receptors) and gulp it that way. Yes, i know it's silly but the taste of those things are horrid! Oh and strep throat is the worse! My throat is hurting just thinking about it! Poor Caitlyn!

Beth -- Oh I heard really good things about that DVD -- glad you liked it! Wow, I could never handle losing power the way you do sometimes. you make it sound like it happens more often than when we go to Calcutta! The rain is suprisingly manageable so far. It started raining midway Sunday and all day until the afternoon yesterday. I live on a hill so I see the water slosh down into the gutter. Frankly, I think its doable as long as there are no leaks in the house (I swear though after this season I'm going to get gutters installed). I haven't traveled through downtown yet. It was always a nightmare there because the engineers clearly didn't count on rain when designing that area. I still haven't figured out how to handle Evee for the Cathe trip. I'm pretty sure we have one set of friends who would feed her but I want her walked/run as well. I don't know if its worth boarding her or paying someone to come to the house or just being really scarily forceful to whichever friend I cajole into taking care of her. I'm actually scarily overprotective of her. I even considered taking her down to SD!

Ok, I should figure out what I want to get done on the last day of my long weekend...with some oreos...

I take that back about the rain. Some thunder which made Evee start barking with all her hair standing up and now it's pouring...like the east coast rains. ::sigh:: no dog park/walk for evee...

Beth and Hottie, stay safe and dry with all those storms.

Hottie, good idea taking the day off. You need and deserve it! Yea, I've found I really like doing cardio/weights this way. I did it last week with CTX weights. Cardio and one or two upper body parts a day, a leg day, a circuit day and an all cardio day. Weren't you saying before that Evee won't go out in the rain and worrying about accidents? Tully is the same way. She must have the bladder of an elephant. Even a slight drizzle and she runs from the door. She's probably gone close to 24 hours without peeing if we get a rainy spell. We used to have a dog, Beauregard, that would lick you like crazy! She was the sweetest thing - loved that dog. She died way too young at only seven years old, but I still miss her. She's been gone twelve years, now I think, cause it was right before Ian was born. Tully loves to chew on my ponytail holder and sniff my hair if I'm on the ground doing abs. No other time, just when I'm working out. Weird - must be the lovely sweat smell? No, we didn't install the windows ourselves - DH shocked me and actually let the window company do it. These windows were long overdue and it's a long, long story, but it's been a bone of contention between DH and I - getting these stupid windows! I'm just glad it's done. It took them about two hours, no mess and it was done. We board Tully at our vet's. We really like them and they love her. She gets a big run and they walk her twice a day. Of course, she's a basket case when she gets home - it takes her a couple days to get back to normal.

Beth, our cabin in Michigan is in Holton, on Big Blue Lake. It's close to Muskegon. We were using Google Earth yesterday to try to see it - wow, that technology is amazing! We could see it, but not real close up. Caitlyn's medicine does have a flavor mixed in, but you can barely notice - the alcohol taste is so overwhelming. The pharmacy said they could add more flavoring, I might try that, but don't know if it would help too much. I'm definitely mixing it in with something tonight - pudding or ice cream. I was even thinking of maybe somehow squirting into bread and rolling it up and having her swallow it. See, I'm getting desperate!! Probably overthinking it.

Hey again..

I am SOOOO cold! I feel like I am in a constant state of goose bumps! And it's not even COLD out, it's just dark , and damp , HATE it.

Joanne: what a great variation of workouts you've been doing! They sound fun. I wish Turbo Kick weren't so damn expensive. But I still have the one I bought and I'm not even close to sick of doing it, so I need to stop wanting new workouts. LOL!. ... That's cool you're doing 4DS this week too! I did the chest and back, and just went back and repeated each round. It wasn't *that* hard, it wasn't NEAR as hard as STS, I think. .... HiiT Pyramid was maybe a LITTLE easier. Especially the moves themselves. No equipment, no step. Familiar jumping moves. And my least favorite, mountain climbers, went by very quickly with just 30 seconds. It's just hard for me to say that it was EASY. It takes your breath away. And Cathe came through making me smile during the 60 second break (which I LOVED!). ..... Oh my on the antibiotic Caitlyn has to take! I never EVER even thought about tasting the kids antibiotic when they were on it. I wonder how big the pill would be? I personally think you could put the pill in a spoon of applesauce or pudding or ice cream and have her swallow it. That is how I started my boys to swallowing pills. (and how some older patients get their pills at the hospital). .... Your vacation plans sound wonderful! How exciting!! You go to New Orleans first though, right? ... Not sure what we're doing this year. I think it may be a small trip to the beach. And in the end, I know , it's really the family time that counts, not where we go or how much money we spend. I'm just a little sad because I wanted to take the kids to Disney World, and it looks like that's out with our decrease in income.

Beth: That's awesome you found a good KB DVD. That's gotta make you happy. So did you end up taking a cold shower? *brrrr*. All that rain, not only a PIA and messy, but depressing I would think. Just today's cloudy day is making me feel weird. ... I know the senate race is huge here! I know it's a national issue. I thought today more about it. I'm kind of annoyed that anyone would vote on ONE issue (the health care bill), when this person will be our senator and represent us for WAY longer than that bill will be around. ... Should be interesting to see what pans out in the end. .... Oh , I tried one of the ideas from that Meditation email. I laid (huddled in a blanket) on the couch and concentrated on the sounds I heard, JUST the sounds. Again, started drifting off to sleep (how could you NOT????). But I didnt' feel groggy/icky afterwards. I think I was just "off" last week.

Hottie: Glad you're getting in an extra rest day with Evee! She sounds like she's giving you a spa treatment at home! LOL! .. I know , everyone is treating the Senate race as ONE issue. And as I said above, it's kind of pissing me off! Brown is against gay marriage, lots of environmental issues and voted AGAINST having the banks pay back some of their bailout with an extra tax. We'd haev to LIVE with that if he gets through! PRAY he doesn't!... That's too funny about your sauna and zune music! Were you alone in the sauna?

STILL having chills. Even after tea and I have 3 layers on .

Just finished MMA Boxing -- I liked it. My HR wasn't killing me so it was great to have something "easier" and hey, I still burned! though with the number of Oreo cookies I ate...maybe I should have done another imax extreme -- eek! Stupid sales and Joe bough two boxes of both oreos and chips ahoy! No wonder my belly is growing. (oh and olive garden left overs.) I took Evee out since it was lightly sprinkling for exactly 6 minutes and she was so pissed and then whaddya know, the little scaredy cat is whimpering because of the thunder.

Joanne -- hey I finally found you on FB! Friend me and you can see the million pictures of Evee and the videos too. I wanna see Tully! Evee freaks out still every once in a while when I work out. She does not like outer thighs for some reason. Oh, and she hates tuck jumps because I was showing Joe what a tuck jump is (trying to teach him Cathe moves for the RT) and the silly dog got in the middle of my hand slapping my thigh and my thigh so I slapped and crushed her head sorta -- but it was HER fault for jumping into me! now she just whimpers are runs whenever she seems me doing a tuck jump even if its in the room she can't enter. I swear, for a dog with such terrible memory, it's weird what her brain cells keep.

Chris -- hey, trust me, I'm praying for Coakley but I dunno...the media loves to make a story. Sometimes I think I'm happy that Joe "sold out" and decided to work for the corporate world than staying in journalism strict. It seems he's constantly pissed with their unethical way of presenting a story and at least in the corporate world he gets paid more and he's not misleading someone. Yeah, it was just me in the steam room...I would have been super embarrassed if someone heard the first line of the song in there -- like i said, super crude.

Hmm...I think I'm going to clean the house for a bit and catch the senate race on the TV. Who knows, maybe I'll work out again. I certainly feel up for it but I don't want to overdo it.

We have power! A little more than twelve hours later -- this is great, because from what we were hearing we were expecting another 24 hours. This is just a way of life up here, Hottie -- honestly, Larry and I are sort of surprised it doesn't happen more often when we drive around and see how many tree branches are resting on wires!!

Well, the republican won, eh? We were having dinner in the dark discussing it all. Larry, though initially an Obama fan, is so very fed up with him, so he's happy. He's glad a message was sent. He says the other stuff (just the fact that the guy is a slime bag) is MA's problem. I know, he doesn't have a lot of sympathy at this point!!!

Oh, and no, I don't have to have a cold shower.... the water's heated with propane, but the pressure does drop somewhat.

I'm so glad that it looks like I might be able to do a workout tomorrow. :D

Ok, it seems like I had so many things I wanted to comment about, but now I cannot remember and I do need to do dishes. When I was sitting in the dark a little while ago I just wanted to call you guys on the phone and yack!! Oh, Chris, loved the shaker for men video -- what were they thinking?! OMG! Did you ever warm up?
