The following may be of interest and you should come away with another, impossibly long list of titles to peruse throughout the summer!

The Books 2012

On that list I can vouch for Kindred, Bel Canto, Prayer for Own Meany, the Sue Grafton series, the Maya Angelou autobiographies series and Housekeepng, and my daughters adored The Book Thief.

I loathed and despised Jodi Picoult and will never read another of her books. She does not respect the integrity of her characters, She plays God with them and she lost me as a reader.

World Book Night is tonight!

Oh how I wish I could to partake in the event. I wonder which communities are participating in this venture. Is there a list of the cities somewhere?

I'll join the mailing list for the 2013 event.

What a great list, too. I read, and loved, Barbara Kingsolver's, Poisonwood Bible. I've also read A Prayer for Owen Meany, and Namesake. I think I have, The Book Thief on my Kindle.

BTW, congrats on both your new house and your new professional project, but I hope neither interfere, too much, with your reading. (For purely selfish reasons of my own!)

:D

http://www.us.worldbooknight.org/wbn2012-the-booksClare, Thank you for yet another list of books I want to get to. Book Night sounds like something I'd like to do. I will get onto their mailing list and participate next year. In the meantime, I need to figure out how I'm going to read all these books! LOL:D

Thank you again for this wonderful information,

Janie

YES - Stephen King finally made a 'must read' book list! :) I can't tell you how many times I have read The Stand, including the unabridged version. It's one of my favorite books. And Michael Connelly - wonderful!

Thanks for sharing!

Clare, how can you dis Jodi Picoult so easily. her books are great!!!
Loathed and despised are very strong words!!!
She should play God with them. After all they are her creation.

Hi,

Have to agree with Kenja, I have really liked all the Jodi Picoult books I have read..all but "Lone Wolf" which I just finished. I didn't hate it, but didn't like it as much as all the others.
