I've had it with myself!

Ok, I've reached my breaking point with my weight/eating and have to do something. This is probably not a good time right before the holidays, but oh well...

I need something to motivate, which is stupid I know, it just is. I finally have a job and some means of income so I can sign up for aerobics at school and plan to get the new Cathe's and maybe the Hardcores I sold (stupid too, I know).


Anyhoo...........I want to go on some diet, something more structured. Since I work in the ER, I cannot eat on the job and have been bringing a Healthy Choice or something like that for dinner, but need some quick (inhale type quick) snack ideas. Usually I eat fruit for snacks, but don't think I will be able to at work.


I want to get a sensible diet book. I want that e-book that is online but have no means to print it out. I was thinking Jillian's new book from the BIGGEST LOSER. Anyone have that? Any other recommendations so that I can start losing weight quick? I am approaching my heaviest weight, atleast that I can remember, EVER! HELP!!! I want the old me back....

I can't advise about diet books, but when I needed the "inhale" snacks when I was working, I always had a banana, a small thing of grapes or a peeled hard boiled egg in my bag or desk. With those you can even duck into a bathroom stall and have a quick nibble, if nibbling in a stall doesn't bother you. :)

Atkins worked for me--I lost 30 lbs in about 6-8 weeks. Now I'm on a modified low carb maintenance diet & have stayed around 110 for the last 3 years.

If you want more info you can PM me. I did read the Atkins For Life book before I started the diet, it really helped me understand why it worked, not to mention it was very motivating.
 
Try Ediets. There's a lot of online support for you. And you can choose from a variety of diet programs.
 
There are lots of great plans out there! You need to find out what will work for you, that's all. Consider your likes/dislikes, time preparation for foods, ability to food shop, etc. That will really make an impact on what program you are able to work with b/c some stress a certain lifestyle (ie vegetarian), some take more food prep time (ie South Beach), etc.

I'm with LauraMax-Atkins worked for me! Still does....it's not really a "diet"-it's permanently changing your eating habits. It can be done. You do NOT have to be a slave to sugar forever.

My favorite snack now is low fat Sargento's string cheese.

I also like:

Soy nuts
Wasa Crackers with hummus
Wheat pitas filled with a Greek Salad type mixure
Apples
Bananas
Oranges
Grapefruit
grapes


For lunch I've been eating soup a lot.

Janice, I don't know about Jillians book, but I do like her Cardio Kickbox, makes me sweat. So her book maybe worth the money. If I were really needing to lose about 20 lbs I would buy it.
