;)

OK...it all came at once. I posted before the July RT about being up 10 pounds (or so, lol) and yet still feel okay with that. Many of you agreed.

Well, since the RT, back home here, at least 6 people told me that they think I look better with these extra pounds on. Then last night, my Aunt from Boston, who hasn't seen me in several months asked me what I've been doing differently, then said I have my dad's double chin but that I look good! LOL

Too funny! I'm glad I'm in a good mood these days, or else I would have told her where to stick that double chin comment! :)

But, I do have to say that the comments from my friends were genuine, and I looked at a few pictures of me from this past month (and the RT)....I'm okay with them. There may be something to these extra few pounds.

I'm up 10 lbs as well & I've gotten the same comments.

I'm not sure if they're from catty people who're glad I'm now slightly overweight like them, or if they really mean it.

Gayle, I don't think I've met you before so I don't have a basis for comparison re. your weight gain, but IMO you're a beautiful lady & you don't need to change a thing.

I am w/ Laura here - you ARE a beautiful woman! :D I have nothing to compare you to as far as before and afters, but you are lovely. FWIW, I am not sure if I look better but I always feel better w/ some extra padding, too - at least that's what I tell myself when the chocolate cravings kick in  Have an awesome day!!!

Gayle, I agree that you look great in the RT pics. And I know how you feel. I think I look better with a few extra pounds too. Unfortunately for me, my recent weight gain took my waist from 26" to 27", which, apparently, is the difference between a pants size. All in all, if I could live my life in the nude, weight would be a complete non-issue for me. But sheesh, these wardrobe issues are driving me nuts. Are you having any clothing problems?

Just from what I've read here on the forums, it seems like a lot of people are more comfortable with a little extra weight, as opposed to being extra lean. I expect it has something to do with a person's 'set point' or natural weight. I know a while back when I tried to lose a few pounds, it was HARD work, and I really wasn't happy. My body has been where it is now for years and years, and it works for me.

Gayle, I'm glad you're happy! I've never met you in person, but I think you always look great in the photos I see. And you do look genuinely happy, too!

Shannon, it seems to be much harder work now than it was a year or two ago. Dammit! And you're right, now I'm not willing to sacrifice the pleasure I get from food just to be extra cut.

Nancy, I'm having clothing problems. I have to admit that's what's most distressing about this weight gain. I went up a size as well & I'm cringing at the upcoming pants season. I think I need to replace them all, & I'd much rather save my money for shoes, purses & cosmetic procedures! :p:cool::D

Gayle...you are to funny! I have gained about 5-8 lbs since Jan as well. I use to be 117 and now I have crept up to 123-125. Ive tried to lose it, did what I did before but its just not budging. In the meantime, when I was 117 people were telling me that there wasn't much left to me. After I gained a bit back one of my co-workers said " you look really good today, but I don't know what it is" After a couple of mins he said " I know what it is, but don't get mad at me...you have weight on" Being a women, of course, that hit a nerve! LOL
Looking at pics, I am also happy with myself, its when I try to put on the clothes I once wore when I was 117 (that doesn't fit) do I get ticked with myself!
Prehaps we should beleive what people are telling us? I don't think we see oursleves like others see us...so maybe they are right?

Ah, you guys are too sweet. Please don't think I was fishing for those compliments! LOL But they help! ;)

As usual, it's nice to know there are others who agree with me on this.

THANKS for your input!

Gayle

Gayle, you look great, and that's all there is to it. Double chin???? Puh-lease!

And Laura, you already know what I think, but I'll say it again: you look great too!!!

I have also gained a few pounds from my lowest weight. Luckily most of my clothes still fit!

Gayle,

When I look at your avatar, it isn't me I'm looking at.....:D

You look perfectly healthy to me, my friend!

Gayle,
Be happy. You look wonderful, you have had a hard time (and still doing a great job with your boys) and you are beautiful. I sooooo enjoyed your laughter and enthusiasm at the July RT. A few extra pounds are nothing to worry about. My weight has crept up a little despite more exercise and eating better. What's up with that??? But, I'm just going to take it one day at a time and be happy with any progress I make.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Another gal who like Shannon is much happier at my "set point" weight...Gayle you look terrific! Laura, you do too!

I have to literally kill myself to lose 5 pounds, I have been the same weight give or take three pounds my entire adult life, and thank goodness it isn't too tough to stay here.
