It's cold and I don't want to work out

Nope, I don't relate at this occasion.
4 me training is part of my HEALTH. It is non-négociable
Kind of boring one would say!

I agree! I just meant to say it’s a thought to go into the cellar but I do it anyway …
Yes I understood you perfectly. We all have those days when discouraging thoughts cross our mindset.

I know exactly what you mean by the feeling we get after the warm up. I totally relate;):)
We just push and do it. BTW it is pretty cold and windy here south Belgium. Take care:)

Am I the only one who gets to feeling like they don't want to work out when the weather gets cold and grey? I just want to snuggle up under a warm blanket and eat hot soup instead.
For me, I still want to work out as I know it will help warm me up, but cold weather makes me feel stiff and sore. I really need to be mindful of warming up properly. Like others have mentioned, I feel worse if I don't work out. However, as I am in the Southern Hemisphere we are heading into summer here. Currently the temperature when I work out is around 21-23°C (I think somewhere in the 70s Fahrenheit) which is OK. But by December I will need to use the AC for cooling during my workouts.

I know I'll maintain my workout regimen, but there's something that goes on for me when the first really cold and grey days roll around that makes me want to huddle down and conserve energy and eat warm comfort food.

Probably some kind of deep-rooted biological urge from the days when our ancestors were hunter-gatherers. They were naturally active all the time anyway, but when it came to cold temperatures, I'm sure their bodies wanted them to not burn energy all day with excess activity. It needed that energy to help you stay warm, and it needed the higher calories to make up for times when food was more difficult to acquire.

Anywho - just nice to know I'm not the only one out there that feels this way. Isolating myself by convincing myself that there's something wrong with me for wanting to comfort myself, and that I'm the only person on the planet who feels that way isn't helpful to me at all.

You're not alone. I think it takes our bodies time to adjust, especially for those of us who live in climates with wide-ranging temperatures and weather. I'm still adjusting to the ending of DST this week- takes me longer than one day! And although we're experiencing some warmer than usual temps in MI right now, today is gray and wet and many trees have dropped their leaves making for a more dismal day. I always find November to be a rather sad month as the days get quite short, grayer, and colder. The snow brightens things up in December and by then we're more used to the shorter daylight and the colder temps.

Ha ha, Nicki. If the meme was true we could all just turn down our thermostats and burn tons of calories vegging out on the couch watching TV. Hee hee ....wouldn't that be nice! No winter fur (fat) coats for any of us. :) On the other hand,, maybe that's part of the reason people were thinner before central heating became the norm in homes. That's an interesting thought.
Good thought!
