Howdy all. I'm headed back to work today. I'm hoping to be able to leave early to have time for a cardio workout when I get home. Wednesday evenings are help-out-at-AWANA-at-church night.

LauraR, I saw your functional fitness thread, but didn't have time to reply. Good for you for heaving the trouble maker into the pool!

JJ, alternating cardio and strength is my basic rotation too. I try to change up the cardio. I'd do Step all day everyday if I could.

Wendy, good news about Houdini. I can just picture her, curled up with her stuffed animals, waiting for mom to come open the door. Ha, we have a Mr. Yappycat who likes to remind us that it is time to get up and feed the cats.

Karin, I LOL at your comment about loving company, but liking when they leave. I feel exactly like that. My niece is visiting from Virginia. Her family lives near VA Beach, so we decend on them for at least a week every summer.

Catherine, I haven't done B&G for a long time either. I may pull it out next week for my lower body day.

Judy, you NEED to run a real race!

Heather, I don't have Muscle Max. I do have a gift card, burning a hole in my wallet. I've been waiting to see what comes after STS, since that was a bit too expensive for me. Maybe I'll get MM...

ellie! Have you seen a doctor? Don't force a workout until you feel better!

GOOD MORNING PEEPS!!!! :D:D:D:D

I took the boys to the pediatrician last night for the flu shots. While there we were talking about my never ending cold. He did a thorough exam and said that my allergies are causing it. It's been in the high 70's here and breezy. he said I probably had the cold initially and now am just continuing with allergies. HURRY UP First Frost. So I took an antihistamine and aha!! I feel better. Well, except for the shaking and heart racing from the med!!!


Robin, you are up early!!! Hope you get your w/o in today. What are you planning on? Do you work late??


LauraR, I love showing my strength gains. I've never had real upper body strength but now I can move furniture MYSELF and show DH when he comes home.

JJ, I love step. I would do it everyday. I force myself to throw in the weight portions. Circuit works for me because I know the step portion is coming!!


Karin, It seems like I have company non-stop. My husband is youngest of 7 amd i'm youngest of 4. People are always in and out. It gets old sometimes

Catherine, I don't have B&G, but I NEED it. Well the guts part anyway. Putting this on my Christmas list. It scares me though, I need to learn how to do a lot of the core work.

Wendy, I had 2 Houdini's and I was exhausted. My youngest is 4 now so I can rest easier. But you gotta laugh. And laugh and laugh and laugh.

Heather, MM rules. I love it (and hate it).

Lots of early morning Peeps :eek: I did B&Gs last night. I even did most of the floor work (skipped some that bothers my back) and I DID the GUTS part:D I use my 10# weighted vest for a lot of the moves and man o man it gets in there!! Today I have a pharmacology update class. So a bit different from the daily grind. I hope to get in SZ or some other cardio here shortly.

Robin, you would like MM.

Vilma, which KB w/o will you be doing?

Ellie, my allergies have been raging for months. They just drag ya down and make ya feel yukie!!! I hope you get some relief soon.

I am so curious about the whole kettleball thing. I might spend some time on line today checking out some sites. Is there anything I should be looking for?? I'll need to start slowly and I need not to heavy ones. Only 5'2'' on a good day and 114 pounds. Any starter ideas??? :)

Catherine, what is the 10# vest like? Do you only use it for lower body and ab work? Does it hurt your back?
I had 2 10 pound babies and I remember aching all over carrying them, Is it easier because the weight is distributed better? Can I try a 5 pound one first??

Good morning! Well, it is morning anyway. It is dark and rainy. I hope I can find my umbrella because it is pouring down outside. I just had a disappointing workout, and I do not have time to get my cardio fix before work. Kick Max was on my rotation for this morning. I love the boot camp blast premix. That is my cardio cocaine! It starts with the blast segment, and I am able to keep my heart rate elevated with the kickboxing that follows. But my knees and feet are not in any condition to be jumping around like a bunny rabbit on crack this week, so I decided to give the low impact timesaver premix a whirl. I quickly realized that Kick Max needs the high impact segment for intensity and the fun factor. The cardio consists of the first two combinations, so it is only 10 minutes of cardio after the warm-up! It would have been a better workout with all the combinations. I need to resist the temptation to drug myself with chocolate today. When I do not get my daily "high" from cardio, I am tempted to find it in food! Thankfully, I have my Zumba class to look forward to after work.

Ellie, I highly recommend Emergen-C. It will give you a burst of energy for Monday morning and help kick colds and allergies to the curb.

Catherine, which moves hurt your back? If you are talking about the table work, I support my upper body with my stability ball under me so I can focus on working my butt instead of supporting my weight on all fours! I hated floor work until I started modifying like this.

I use the vest for lower body work along with chinups and pullups. I don't use it for ab work. I also sometimes wear it when I walk my dogs. It's very comfie and does not hurt my back at all.

Heather it is the table work that hurts my back. But not because I am not supported. I have an SI joint issue that just doesn't like those moves and I repect that!!

Happy Hump Day~

I ended up doing MM yesterday instead of PUB. It is amazing how tough endurance workouts can be after doing stictly strength for a long period. Still trying to decide on a cardio w/o for today.

Robin Hope you get time for your cardio today. Which one do you hope to get in? Have fun at church...how nice of you to volunteer:)

Good morning peeps!! Not much is really new here, which is a good thing. My dad got home from the hospital yesterday and he is so happy. He said that he slept well and was really excited to breathe fresh air. Last night I managed 30 minutes on the bike and the stability ball abs from B&G. It felt good to start getting into some kind of groove. Tonight I am going to my yoga class. Did I tell you guys that I had to scrape my windshield in the morning on Mon and Tues? I’m not quite ready for winter yet, but I think it’s coming.

Robin – as far as company goes… This past summer we had someone visiting at our house for 9 weekends between Memorial and Labor Day. Let’s just say that won’t be happening again. What a freakin’ exhausting summer.

Vilma – I hope that your KB workout goes well.

Ellie – glad to hear you are feeling better.

Catherine – I did B&G stability ball abs last night because of you :). Thanks for reminding me of that workout. I’ll have to do the leg part next week. I’m glad that you listen to your body and don’t do the exercises that aggravate your back. You have a pharmacology class today, what’s your line of work? I work in the pharmacology department at university here doing research. Do you have Cathe’s 10# vest? It seems like you like it? I really want to get it and I think I’ll ask for it for Christmas.

Heather – I tried the low impact premix on KM once and had the same impression. I have just ended up keeping that workout for the leg drills because the low impact premix isn’t enough and the high impact is way too much.

JJ – yes, I am going home to see my dad again. I just bought tickets for Oct 30 to Nov 5 and it was only $215. I haven’t flown that cheaply in awhile. My parents live in the town right next to Cathe’s gym so I am thinking of maybe going to one of her classes. I hope that I don’t chicken out.

Wendy – I hope that Houdini did well last night. Also, if you have a chance I would love to see some of your favorite recipes. Do you really think Kenley is going to win PR? I guess we will find out tonight. Oh, also I've been meaning to ask what your user name means. Every time I see it I think that you are a Purdue alum, but that could be completely wrong.

What, am I going to be the first one to mention coffee this morning? LOL. Am drinking a nice cup of dark coffee with vanilla creamer. I did see where Coffee-Mate is making a carmel apple flavored creamer for fall, but mmm, not too sure about that...

Ellie--Oh, you have my sympathy. Allergies make you feel just AWFUL. They are very bad here in Texas (and then we have ozone alert days on top of it.) I hope the cold weather comes very soon for you!

Heather--I laughed when I read your thoughts on Kick Max Low Impact Timesaver. I'm just learning KB and that's the only one I do at this point!! And I think, wow, this isn't so bad! Sounds like I'll get the challenge when I'm ready by doing the premix you do (but I am by no means there yet!)

JJ--Yes, Houdini did fantastic last night, thanks for asking! She cried for 30 seconds, then laid on the floor and kicked the door and shouted out the alphabet. :) I found her this morning, asleep on the one square foot of carpet that didn't have her mattress or quilts or mats or blankets down, fast asleep. :)

Karin--You guessed right--I am a Purdue alum. Love Purdue Football (ugh, not this year though we are BAD! and basketball) My husband is an Iowa Hawkeye so we have a mixed Big 10 marriage, LOL! I would love to swap some recipes with you, too! I will PM you later so we can discuss what we like so we know what to send each other. :) I really do think Kenley will win tonight; DH says no way, it's Leanne. I hope he's right but my gut says Kenley. I can't wait to see the collections, they should be really good this season.

Oh, almost forgot to mention, I got a workout in this morning, hurrah! I did the Triceps & Biceps from 4DS. I'm going back to the 4DS rotation now. (I always do splits, though, due to time factor.)

OK, really gotta work now--lots of NBA travel today!

Well I thoroughly enjoyed my Kettlebell workout with Lauren Brooks – that is such a nice workout and got my HR up there.

I didn’t use my gloves and my palms are not at all hurting.
Thank Goodness!

I’m so ready to throw those gloves out since they tore my hands up on Monday but I do use them when I doing weight work with Cathe’s workouts.



Ellie Flu shots already? Well I guess it is that time of year again. Glad you finally found relief with the antihistamines.

As far as the Kettlebell goes from what I’ve read it is suggested that a woman start with an 18 pound or 8 KG Kettlebell.

Since I could only find the 5 pound increments here at Target I got the 15 pound Kettlebell and I am waiting for my 18 & 26 pound bells to be delivered.

I have Lauren Brooks and The Kettlebell Way dvds and they are very good at breaking down the moves.

Along with my ordered kettlebells, I also have AOS Newport dvd to come in that shipment.

Heather enjoy your Zumba class I looked around for my area but the closet is 2 hours drive from me. I for one am stocking up on some Emergen-C and Airborne for this season.


JJ I saw in OD that you have an appointment with a RKC instructor – that is awesome!

Ugh I don’t care for those mornings scraping ice yuck, this am it was 56 degrees and I was out in my shorts brrr but today we have another record high of 87 degrees predicted – I’m guessing this will be it for those temps until next spring.:(

Hiya Peeps,

I didn't make it for a visit yesterday so first, I'll describe what I did in terms of a workout. Yesterday morning, I did the 82 minute premix on KPC/L&G that included the cardio, leg strength circuit, & abs. Then, I proceeded to do laundry, clean, & put wood sealer on the fence I'd been pressure washing for so long. Well... it was worth it because it looks good! This morning, I did the SB step only premix, PUB down only (no abs), & BC cardio only. I also did all of the cool down & stretch segments. I'm not a fan of cardio but I'm trying to fit in a little extra right now since I'm trying to fit back into some of my clothes. Last night, I had a meeting to attend so I put on a pair of jeans that used to fit me just fine & they were SO tight! But I think it's getting close to that time of the month too so that probably has something... well, a lot... to do with it.

Robin - Hope you get to leave work early so you can fit in that cardio this evening. Have fun at church tonight too!

Vilma - Glad you enjoyed your KB workout & it didn't make your palms sore. I do a KB workout every Friday & I look forward to it every week.

Ellie - Allergies can be the culprit for many health ailments. Glad you're feeling better now & hopefully it will frost soon!

Catherine - Wow, good job doing the "G" section of B&G with a weighted vest! I still don't have that workout but it's on my wish list...

Heather - Sorry you had a disappointing workout this morning. But you need to listen to your body & I'm glad you did. At least your fun Zumba class should help make up for it tonight... enjoy!
