Itrain on Bike & elliptical

I did an Itrain Itri workout yesterday. I loved it, but felt I wasn't working out hard enough on the bike and elliptical. i might not be using them properly. On the iclimb part, they used a scale of 1-10. Does that mean you go a level say 7, the ellipticals at my gym go up to a level 20. we also have elliptical you can change the resisitance and incline. I was just confused on what to change. Maybe on some of the reglar iclimbs they give you more instruction. Like for the treadmill, they tell you the speed and incline. Same with the bile, you can change the resistance up to a level 20. Do you use a regular bike or a spin bike. Thanks for any help. Mary

Mary,

The 1-10 exertion level doesn't necessarily correspond with the resistance level. Imagine a "level 10" from the iClimb perspective would be your all-out maximum effort -- whether that means resistance level 20 or resistance level 15 or resistance level 5. So you have to gauge your own exertion. As for the incline, I would select the incline for the area you prefer to emphasize. My elliptical has three incline levels and I usually like the 10 degree setting because that'll work the booty more.

Hi Mary. Cathy has already provided a great answer, but I wanted to chime in too :7. The elliptical that I use at the gym has a ramp and resistance adjustment. I keep my ramp around 6 and alter the resistance. My elliptical also goes up to 20 for resistance, and my 10 exertion level is between 14-16 depending on the day and how I am feeling. When Keith has us at level 5 I am usually at 9 or 10 on resistance. So, you just have to figure out your levels on the equipment. It does take a couple of tries to get it right.

As for the bike, I have used icycles on both spinning bikes and stationary bikes. On stationary bikes the resistance goes up to 20 and my 10 is usually 16-17 here. I do enjoy using the spinning bikes a bit more because I feel like I can more fine tune the resistance.

I think after a couple more tries the iclimb and icycle parts will be kicking your butt as much as the TM part.

GOod luck
