itchy underarms

I recently tried switching deodorants and experienced a horrible itch. I switched back to my old brand and the itch is still here! I'm wondering if it could be a yeast infection, which I've never had before in my underarms, but have seen it talked about online.

Has anyone else ever had a problem like this and was it yeast? Unfortunately, with the Thanksgiving holiday, I can't get in to my doctor until the beginning of next week, and I don't know if I can stay sane until then!!!

I went thru that a couple years ago. Could not wear the brands that I'd worn up until I was 47, like Secret, Ban, Arrid. Bad itch. I then switched to a crystal that I got at the health food store. No more itch. About 6 mo. later, I tried some Ban and back came the itch. Now I use either the crystal or a Tom's of Maine rollon. Works fine for me.

Same thing happened to me. I found that I can no longer use the antiperspirant/deodorant blend ~ I must be allergic to something in that mix. I can use deodorant only.

Try Old Spice and Brut.

I had this too! I switched antiperspirants 3x. I finally asked my dermatologist and she said to use regular OTC hydrocortisone cream for a few days and that would clear up whatever irritant was causing the rash. It worked! I'm itch free and using my old antiperspirants. HTH!

I've also had this happen a few times to me, before I THINK I realized what it was. First time, it was a new deodorant. Second time, it was the laundry detergent. Third time, it was the deodorant again.

Each time though, the only way for me to get rid of that itch and the rash that started to develop was to get a scrip from my doctor for a very mild, 7-day steroid. I forget the name of it, but it was a cheap scrip that you started day 1 with 7 pills, day 2 with 6, and so on, for a week.

Now.....I've learned to stay with the brands my mom used for me when I was a kid...Secret or Dove deodorant, Tide laundry detergent and Downy fabric softener.

Also went through that and went to see a doctor on my regular visit and complained about it. Even went so far as to post it here. I make homemade soap and changed my soap a bit. Put to much vitamin C in it and started itching under my arms. It took a while before the symptoms appeared. I didn't figure it out for months, before it dawned on me that it could be my soap.

You'll figure it out, it could be a lot of things, but I would say something you are using on your body recently, even a month ago.

I have noticed that sometimes, especially during the hot summer months, that my underarms itch... but not having changed any of my soaps, deoderants, or other hygiene habits, I found that maybe it was the razor! I tend to be on the cheap side and didn't change my razors as much as I should... I felt that somehow maybe the blades would get mildew-y (if thats a word) and thought that would be a part of it... I change my razors more frequently now, and I also found those rough, scrubby exfoliating gloves really help... not only do they feel good for the itch, they really do help exfoliate the skin on the underarm to keep the itch at bay... I have not had much trouble since...

hope you find relief soon... I know it is NOT a pleasent issue to deal with!
