Hi Jes,
Isopure is a protein powder. I've only tried the vanilla kind. It's thinner than some other powders, and you can just mix it with a spoon into some water (whereas other powders just clump). If I want a frothy shake, I'll throw a couple scoops in a blender with ice cubes, and maybe some milk.

The vanilla is pretty good, though I think I'll switch to chocolate, because I think it's tastier in general (though I haven't tried the Isopure chocolate). I bought vanilla originally to add it to my oatmeal, but it wouldn't mix in smoothly. So now I'm just drinking it mixed with water or milk. BUT, I'm partial to chocolate because you can add a tablespoon of natural peanut butter, splash of milk, ice cubes, whip in a blender, and you'll have a delicious shake that will tide you over for at least 2-3 hours.

that sounds delicious! i love anything with PB. don't protien mixes have alot of calories though? would it be better for someone trying to lose weight to stay away from those?

Jes,
I have the isopure dutch chocolate. I've tried many chocolate protein powders before and this is the closest to the actual taste of chocolate i have come close to. not bad.
I made a shake today with the protein powder, one tbsp of natural peanut butter(smuckers) and it was soooo good!!! chocolate and peanut butter yummm!!
My jar says 210 calores per serving, 50gm protein and can't remember but not many carbs. Sorry , i'm downstairs and if i leave the computer to go look, i'll loose the computer to a kid LOL.

hth,
Wendy

I love the strawberry, peach, and the tropical flavors. There is one called "Pina Colada" that is also very yummy. I mix mine a lot with yogurt and throw in some flax and I'm all set. :) I like the way Isopure mixes. It isn't as clumpy as other powered proteins that I have tried.

Wendy, your peanut butter recipe sounds very goooood too. :9 Isopure makes a chocolate peanut butter, but your idea of mixing real peanut butter with the dutch chocolate is most probably a better tasting mixture. I will have to try it very soon. Right now I have a gallon container of strawberry and a gallon of peach. LOL

Hi there-

I sometimes use the Isopure protein and it is pretty good. I think the regular version is better tasting than the low carb one. My favorite is the chocolate, and the chocolate peanut butter.

My favorite thing to do w/ Isopure is to add a 1/2 frozen banana and blend in a blender. It makes it taste much more creamy and thickens it up a bit.

Take care, Lynn M.

I've also seen premixed individual serving size bottles of fruit flavored Isopure in the healthfood section of my grocery store. It's been quite a while since I looked, but I think that they have a website you can order from. My trainer really liked these a lot, but I have only tried the chocolate powder (which was pretty good).

Hi Jes! I happen to see the header ISOPURE when I logged on so I thought I would answer your question. I never used the Isopure shakes. I only use the crystal clear liquid protein Isopures. They come in fruit flavors (Green Apple, Alpine Punch, Grape Frost etc.)

Hope this helps!

Well, it goes to show you what a ditz I really am!

But $3+ a bottle still is pretty expensive. However, if fitness were my career or I was an elite athlete, I think I could justify the expense.

In the meantime, I think I'll have to make do with my 59 cent packs of Emergen'C - LOL!:D

I couldn't agree with you more...that's why I have yet to try it. I tend to spend more generously on whole foods. I use Emergen'C too, which feels like a bit of a splurge.

I use Emergen'C a lot during the the summer when I can't seem to quench my thirst with plain water. It really helps too, when I'm getting a migraine. I slug down a glassfull, take my meds and hope for the best!

I'm trying to get DH, who does the grocery shopping, to start spending some $$$ on better foods and quit buying that salted pre-made "just add water and chicken" crap at the regular grocery store.

Oh well, I'm just procrastinating - time to try KickMax!

>what is Emergen'C? i get migranes. what am i missing?
>
>jes:eek:

Emergen'C is just a little packet of vitamin C and potassium and other vitamins/ that you can get at the Whole Foods. It's really just a supplement you mix with water. A fellow horsewoman clued me into it when she told me when she gets her migraines, she mixes up a a glass of it and it helps alleviate the symptoms.

At the onset of the aura, I take one tab of Maxalt under the tongue (YECH!!!!), a glass of Emergen'C, and three Excedrin Migraine tablets. Ten minutes after that I take another Maxalt and finish up whatever is left of the Emergen'C mixture. Often it seems to help but a couple times, when I'm too late with the Maxalt (which really is key), nothing helps and the train has pulled out of the station, so to speak, and I can only hope it's not a bumpy ride!

I can only say this is what works for me and would not be so irresponsible as to reccomend it for anyone else. Of course, your doctor is the best bet for helping your migraines.;)
