Is this reasonable?

Charlotte, if you wear a one-piece like that, I am pretty sure that next year the pastor WILL require sackcloth! LOL He is obviously not up on women's swimwear!

I would probably go to a church picnic in shorts and a top. I wouldn't feel comfortable in any kind of bathing suit at that kind of function. If you feel that strongly about it, don't go at all. I just wouldn't want myself THAT exposed in front of all those church goin' people.:7 Then again, you'd look hot not matter what you put on!!

Yep, I don't either. I am too tall to find a decent one!

Tough call. It *is* a church related event but then again you are free to not attend. The problem is that sometimes people do not use their brains when they get dressed (or don't...) for these events.

It doesn't sound as though Charlotte is tormented by the issue. I think she is just relaying an interesting event that has taken place in her life and exposing it to us for even more interesting conversation. I don't think anyone's survival feels threatened, especially since NOW is the perfect time to buy a new bathing suit! SALE SALE SALE!!:)

I'm definitely in the shorts and T-shirt camp for a church picnic. If you need a one piece, talk to Robin (buffettgirl). She has a leather teddy and I'm sure she'd be happy to loan it to you. Knowing you as I do, I think leather suits you;) :p :7
 
Be careful getting that leather wet!! Remember the episode of 'Friends' when Ross went on a date wearing leather pants, they got all wet from his sweat and they shrunk???

i agree with charlotte and lauramax and any others who don't get this mandate....but, this discussion is another example of why i don't attend church...oh, well, charlotte, if you really want to go, i am pretty sure you can find a one piece that will look hot on you. look at the fitness models...some of those one piecers make me blush....if you wanted to be a smart a@#$#, you could wear one of those things that criss-cross in front and back as they are technically one piece of material....but that is just my rebellious mind at work....

sarah, i love that friends episode.....you made me laugh out loud remembering that, and picturing charlotte having an issue with her leather one piece when she got out of the lake....
 
Here is a link to how some church goers think, some of the conversations in the forum are eye opening.

I suppose if your not churched (brought up in it, and familuar with church doctrine) you would have a wrestle with it.

In my church we are given guide lines, from then on its up to us.
