Is this normal??

I'm not very far along in my pregnancy but already my workouts seem more difficult. I get out of breath faster and when doing MuscleMax this morning, my legs were shaking during the leg workout. A week ago that was not the case. During the shoulder portion, my shoulders fatigued more quickly using the same weights I had been using the past month.

Is this normal?

Thanks for your input.

Your heart rate shoots up MUCH quicker when pregnant. There is a book called Exercising Through Your Pregnancy that explains this really well. So as long as you can say a couple of words during your workouts then you are fine (the ACOG standards not mine). As far as the fatigue of muscles I'm not sure if this is as widely felt by pg women or not. I was on exercise restriction for 2 weeks and have been working back ssllloowwlllllyyyy and cutting my weights down as well, so my mucles are sore for the rest they had. But I say you're fine just don't over due it!

It's very normal Janna! The first trimester can be really tough when you're exercising. That was the only time during my pregnancy when I had to cut back on the duration of my workouts - I just wore out so quickly. Your body is working so hard right now with the pregnancy.

Take care of yourself - you'll feel more energetic soon!

I am so glad you posted this question! I was coming over to the board to post a very similar one. I am 7 weeks and doing ok (a little nauseous but could be worse). But for the last two weeks or so my workouts have been horrible. I feel shaky and just crappy even though I am scaling back. I was going to ask the others if it gets better or just worse from here on out. It would make sense if I could attribute this to MS, but I'm not THAT sick, just a little nauseous at times. What makes it worse is that I feel the need to eat constantly to stave off the nausea. All my high hopes about heathy pregnancy eating (lots of lean protein and veggies) are shot. I am subsisting on cheese sandwiches or bagels with cream cheese with maybe a tomato to prevent scurvy. All these simple carbs and fat make my stomach feel better, but my body image suffer. I'm only seven weeks and already I feel like my clothes are a little tight!

Yahoo! I"m not alone. I"m thinking to myself, "Wow, I feel so out of shape". I"m so tired & weak. Then I remember when I was pg with Justin & I ran a 10K when I was about 7-8wks pg I felt like it was going to kill me!!! Now I know it wasn't just me. ;)

Shoot, anyone who is working out at all in the first trimester is amazing to me! I can't even muster the energy to put the workout clothes on and I am 10 weeks. I will admit that I also am enjoying all the extra attention DH is giving me by coming home from work earlier and stuff and I do not want to go upstairs after work and then miss seeing him but I still do not think that is all of it.

I tried to do a Firm workout before I even found out I as pregnant and could not get through it. My energy level is just now starting to rise again but I think I will just start with walks so as not to discourage myself if I can not finish a full workout.

The Hardcores will still be there when I am ready to get back in shape!
