Is it worthwhile to take a Vitamin B supplement?

Hi everyone,

I've been reading about the benefits that taking a Vitamin B supplement can have on the body and energy levels. Do any of you take it and have you noticed a difference? Also, can taking it cause any unusual side effects?

The one I'm thinking of ordering is this one:

Thanks for any help! :)

Leanne :)

Yes! B vitamins are super important for energy levels-I take B12 separately in fact. B6 really helps with PMS related woes. The B vitamins are soooo important. I can see no harm in taking them, in fact it will probably do you good. Oh, and panoethenic acid which is also a B vitamin, although I forget which one and probably spelled it wrong, really helps to nourish the adrenal glands, which are also important for energy, we wipe out adrenals with stress and stuff, so taking this B vitamin (extra, you can buy it by itself) really helps with that.

Thanks, Tneah!:) Do you think that just taking this one supplement would be fine or is it better to buy the separate ones?

ITA with tneah. I have noticed a difference when I am not taking my "B's".

For me it is more of the perimenopausal symptoms that it helps most, but I do believe it aids us females in the energy dept also.

You can always try it and see if it makes a difference to you, but if you look at a women's formula multi vitamin, you will see that there are more "B's" added than you'd find in a generic or men's formula.

I noticed a difference with them also, especially with depression around that time of the month. I just bought them at walmart 150 mg of all the b vitamins in one pill only.

Do you take this in addition to a regular multi-vitamin? I've been curious about adding B's myself but I get some from my multi-vitamin and I don't want to take too much.

Thanks!

Thanks, everyone! As Pippa asked, though, is it alright to take it along with your regular multi?

Thanks!:)

Since we are on the subject of supplements. Can anyone recommend a good multi-vitamin(liquid form preferred) . I have some from GNC but the pill form makes me so sick even w/food.

I feel sick when taking a multi, too, but I am fine when I take it just before I go to bed. I know that this interferes with the absorption of some of the vitamins, but I am okay with this!!

Anyone know about taking another B supplement while also taking a multi?
Jenn

Thanks, Deb!

As for a good multivitamin, it doesn't come in liquid form, but I really like the Costco generic version of Centrum. It doesn't make me sick at all, and includes most of the vitamins and minerals you want in a good multi. I do take calcium to supplement it, though, since it doesn't have a high calcium content (and most multis don't).

I take the B vitamins I mentioned in addition to the B vitamins that are in my GNC multi-vitamin I take for women. We pee out the stuff our bodies do not use, unlike the fatty vitamins like E and A that can be stored (not good for you) if taken in excess. Ever see someone that has turned orange from eating too many carrots? My step mom did..she had an eating disorder, too much vitamin A.

Thanks, Tneah! I take a GNC multi-vitamin too so now I feel better about getting some more B's.:)
