Is it safe to lift weights when you're sore? Even after....

a day of recovery? I didn't find an answer in the archives for this answer, so I'd love to hear what you can say!!!
I'm doing my own version of your "arm definition" rotation you posted last year, (in fact, someone revived the thread) and I just read on MuscleMag.com that you shouldn't lift weights when you are sore...but what if it's a mild-soreness-when-you-move-it kind of soreness, rather than the it-hurts-even-when-I'm-standing-still soreness? I am familiar with the process that a muscle goes through when it feels sore, and it's always recommended 24-48 hrs in between, but GEEZ...I'm sore even after 48 hours, am I doing something terribly wrong? I strive to get more sleep, more protein and I even when I lift I go very slowly to asure proper form, what else can I check so I can go on with my workout and have DEFINED ARMS in summer??? Thanks for hearing me whine.... I just feel silly because I'm a new group instructor and I don't know this yet!!!

Working out when sore

Hi Myra! I haven't been on here in ages so I don't know if you will remember me. I'm one of those that isn't usually sore until the next day or sometimes even 2 days after a tough new workout. So I'd like to know the answer to your question too. If our muscles are recovering more slowly than most, I'd like to know how to improve the recovery rate so that I can get in at least 3 weight training days per week.

As for definition in your arms, from what I've read, definition has more to do with getting rid of the fat layer covering your muscles than it does building up those muscles. That's why I'm still working my fanny off to burn blubber!

Of Course I Remember You Carol!!!!

How'z the FIRMLIST? I completed my 90 day rotation at the end of March, so I've not had anything to do with the FIRM since! I had some pretty amazing results, but now I'm in the mood for more muscle mass and decreasing my bodyfat. So now, I'm doing a Cathe rotation until June....
I've read and experienced that Whey Protein really helps to restore my strength and energy after drinking a shake after my workouts. I've not taken it since my Firm rotation, only because of the extra calories that are included, as I'm cutting my bodyfat and would like to cut calories down to 1800 a day. I still teach 2x' a week, step and a cardio mixture class (I use alot of the Core Cardio choreography!!!) so I expend a lot of energy. I just need to fine tune a few things in my eating habits since I experience low-blood sugar attacks. Oh well, we'll see if Cathe responds, she's a busy mother now! I've searched the forum for this answer but it hasn't shown up yet....CATHE, ARE YOU AROUND TODAY??
