Is it really possible....

Has anyone out there lost bodyfat without losing weight once they got close to their target goal? I mean I know in the beginning when you workout you put on muscle and lose bodyfat. I mean later when your really starting to see some results and your pretty comfortable with your weight, you just want to lose the fat. Right now I'm in the strength rotation, can you do it on the strength rotation or do you need to go on the fatloss rotation, and if so, do you just keep your calories the same so that you don't lose the muscle you've built up? Any advice would be great, it always seems like that's a tricky road losing the fat without losing the muscle. Thanks

I didn't have to lose weight when I started out. I was at 96 lbs. when I started weight training; 102 when I found Cathe. I was up to 108 last year and am down to 107 now. All this time, I've been able to fit into pants a size smaller, and shirts a size bigger. I took measurements recently, and using the tape measure method, figured out my body fat is lower now than it has ever been. (I don't know what my body fat was at 96 lbs.) I've been strength training since February, and I credit this result mostly to clean eating and eating only until I'm full, not stuffed, especially since these last two weeks I haven't been working out much because my hubby had a tonsillectomy. I normally weight train for a while, then do a fat loss rotation. Actually, I think it's impossible to lose fat without losing muscle AND to gain muscle without gaining fat. The TRICKY part is to lose fat while MINIMIZING muscle loss, or gain muscle while MINIMIZING fat gain.:)

Similiar to Pinky's story....I was at 112 this past January with bodyfat at 19%. Now I am 117 and bodyfat down to 15%. I did get my body fat to 14.8% just once, but it pretty much stays at 15% now. I had to get rid of alot of my tops because they were too tight around the chest and under arms. Although my jeans fit me much more loosely around the hips. I too have been strength training and eat small portions throughout the day. I try to watch what I eat.

I agree. It is close to impossible to lose fat and not muscle when you don't have a lot of fat to lose. As Pinky said, you can try to minimize muscle loss. Key to this is strength training, fueling your body efficiently before any workout and getting enough recovery days to allow muscle to develop.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, I had a strong feeling that it is difficult to lose bodyfat without losing some weight. It's kind of like you have to focus on one thing and then the other. Thank you for your replies it makes total sense to me.
