Is it possible to workout with Cathe while Pregnant & still gain weight?

Hello everyone- I have a question for all you Catheletes who have been pregnant: I have always enjoyed working out with Cathe 6 days a week to keep in shape & lose weight. Now I am 3 months pregnant with my first baby and would like to continue working out with Cathe at my same pace. My question is, will working out 6 days a week keep me from gaining the appropriate weight I need to gain? Will I need to eat A TON of extra food to counter-act my calories burned in order to gain weight for the baby? Or does that extra weight naturally appear on my body anyway, even if I exercise? Thanks everyone!!!

Listen To Your Body

Hi Daniela! Congratulations! This is wonderful news. Once you become pregnant, the level of fitness you are currently at when learning of your pregnancy, is where you will remain on your best days. What I mean by this is you should not shoot to become any more fit then what you currently are once pregnant. Also, each day that you are pregnant, your body has good and bad days....some days achey, some days tired, some days crabby, some days on top of the world, some days weepy...etc. All these hormonal changes will affect your workout. You need to let your pregnancy (growing baby) be your priority now. So listen to your body daily and do only what you can....remembering to never shoot higher than what you currently were upon learning of your pregnancy (did I say that already;)). Also, as you enter each trimester, your physical changes will affect your equilibrium, cardio output, strength, and flexibilty. Be prepared to have to slow down and move differently. This is so normal and so important to make all necessary modifications when the time comes.

Good Luck With Everything....and hugs to the muffin in the making:D

Congratulations!! Your body will put on the weight it needs for the baby...it will just store and use the calories and nutrients that you take in differently. If you feel up to it, your body will love you for continuing to exercise at pre-pregnancy levels, though as Cathe mentioned, you will likely have to slow down a bit as time goes by. I worked out throughout the entire pregnancy and 2 weeks pp was able to fit into most of my clothes again. Everyone will say it - but it's so true - "listen to your body" :)
