Is Anyone Else Afraid to Use the Tower?

So I've had my tower for a while and have mostly used it for chin-ups and pull-ups as I have a fear that the barbell will fall on me. I did STS Total Body this morning and decided to put my fears aside and use it so I could go heavier for my chest press. Well, when we went right into chest flys, I was so nervous with the BB over my head that I couldn't even concentrate on the exercise. And Cathe moved so quickly into the next exercise that I didn't want to waist time taking the BB off. I know that the tower is made well, but I keep thinking, "What if the BB holders give way and it falls on my head!" I'm not as afraid doing chest press, it when the BB is just sitting there over my head. Does anyone else have this fear?

I understand what you are saying. I don't like to leave it loaded. I'm afraid I'm going to bump the barbell some how and make it fall. I also fear that when doing heavy chest press, I'm going to miss the catches when I finish. I haven't use a regular rack in many years so I don't know if I would have the same fear with a different rack.

I don't have this fear - why? Is there a fault with the tower? I've used the tower many times with the barbell loaded quite heavy and haven't had any problems.

I'm doing Meso 3 disk 31 tomorrow and my barbell will be loaded at 64 pounds. Should I be concerned?

I use mine all the time loaded with 100 - 115# barbell. I'm probably more gentle with placing the weights on the rack, but I'm not afraid. The only thing I don't like is that when removing weights, one side can tilt and cause the bar to fall. I'm just extra careful when I do.

I never had a problem with my tower. It holds my barbell fine. I think as long as you don't slam your barbell down. I take good care of mine I don't let grandkids play on it or anything.:)

I also have a Turbo Tower, and I feel pretty confident that the barbell holder's are safe and secure. My DH is 180lbs, did pull-ups on the bar and loaded a barbell with 200lbs just to see how well it held up -- no problems :)

The only thing I am extra cautious about is when placing the barbell on the holder's while doing chest presses, simply because I'm afraid I will miss the holder's and have the bar come crashing down on me .

Don't get me wrong, I think the tower is constructed well. When I first got it my boyfriend tested it for me to make sure it was safe. I just get nervous when it's loaded over made head (like when doing flys). But also, I haven't used it as much so I'm thinking by using it more often, the fear should lessen.

Why don't you move your step/bench away from the tower when doing flys? I never do flys with a loaded BB under my head. Or I move my butt down on my step/bench a little, it works fine! I am glad I got the tower last year, no worries here!

I don't have the tower, but I'm afraid to use my rubber tubing! It comes with a stop that you put over a door and close the door, and I can use it on my metal garage door, but for some reason I'm afraid to sit on the floor and pull on it .... even though it's probably impossible, I have a fear that it's going to come through the door and smack me in the face.

The funny thing is I got the tubing to replace my over-the-door-jam pull-up bar, which I worried would fall down. When I first got it, I would put the padded dog bed under me and place the phone nearby in case it gave way. Gradually I became more comfortable with it BUT then my husband was goofing around, grabbed it from the wrong side and hit his head on the cement floor. It was so awful I got rid of it!

Boy I sound paranoid ..... :)

The tower is tested to hold 350lbs. They claim it can bear more but that's what it guaranteed at. The tower can feel a little wobbly but I have never had any fear of it breaking. Unless you have a defective one which I have honestly never heard of, you should be fine! I always remove the barbell when doing flies because I have thick cement weights for the barbell and long adjustable dumbbells. Due to this, sometimes having the barbell there will affect my range of motion.
