i saw this on another forum. apprently it shows you what before and after modeling pictures look like. just roll your cursor over the "perfect" women to see what her "flaws" are that they try to cover up in magazines

Wow, thanks Kassia, that was interesting! You know, I went to high school with a Venezuelan girl whose uncle was a well-known magazine photographer in that country. For her birthday he took professional photos of her. It was amazing, the difference. Like many of us in our teenage years, she had acne, was a bit chubby, her hair was kind of a disaster. But in these photos she was a perfect "10." Amazing.

i just read on the site that the artist himself didn't think it was necessary to remove every bulge and blemish but as he says what the art director wants the art director gets. this is the crap they pull to sell more magazines. ppfff, the truth shall be heard.

That's a little scary. :D I read that models bodies are elongated digitally too. Isn't that odd when the average American woman is 5' 4"? I don't need such tricks because my husband turned 47 and it's true the eyesight begins to go in the forties. He actually looked at me recently and told me I looked twenty. Sure, he could be lying but I think it's that his eyesight has gone over the past few years. When he tells me I look gorgeous, I figure some of the troublesome problems of aging aren't all that bad. I have gray hair and wrinkles but he can't see them very well! He did look at a photo of me when I was 26 and asked me if I remembered being so pretty. I smacked his balding little head.

In the last photo, where you see a close-up of the model's hand and stomach, you can see her pores and the veins on her hands on the original. You can also see a little of her body hair. In the retouched version, all those things that make her human (veins, hair, pores) are gone. The retouched photos make her skin look almost plastic. Eerie.

for along time i was trying to rid myself of those bulges near the hips and here i see its NORMAL. just another part of learning that things are not as they seem.

i am lucky hubby doesn't care for models, thinks pam anderson is NASTY, and believe the girls on WWE wrestling need to workout with me and learn to eat a sandwich. but he does pick on me about a few gray hairs popping in.

I honestly think that Mother Nature planned things quite well: as we get older and wrinklier and saggier, our loved ones also get poorer eyesight, so they don't notice so much! Too bad glasses and contacts were invented!

Just look at the cover of almost any "Fitness" magazine. The models look really touched up. Unnaturally long and smooth in the waist. No pores. Very slick, shiny-looking skin.

Makes you wonder why they even need a real model?

(Though I would like this guy to take MY picture! LOL!)

Kassia, my DH is the same way. I showed him the site and his comment was, why would anyone want a woman with a stepford body? He says all the time that he likes a natural women, with her curves and bumps and flaws. good thing, that, as I have plenty!! :D

I worry more about the younger women and girls, trying to live up to these impossible standards. The older I get the more I love every part of my body.

I know the thing to do now is to stretch the model. The arms, waist, hips and legs get stretched. I, personally, find this very unattractive and alien looking. Why can't we just accept that women don't look like that? It is truly a very sad thing and leads to all kinds of social and psychological problems, including eating disorders. Very sad.

Muscularly she looks much better in the un-airbrushed photo. They smoothed out the muscles in her ab, upper arm, and shoulder - wierd.

curly, you noticed that too.she did some some defintion in some spots didn't she.

I just showed this site to my sixteen-year-old son. He needs to know right now that the women in the magazines don't really exist. I want his feet firmly on the ground.
