Good morning Ya'll!!!!!
What a nice morning. I slept in until 7:30
. Today's my rest day. I'm supposed to teach a cycle class at 5:45 today. My childcare plans fell through, so unless I can find someone to look after my 4 year old, I'll need a sub to sub for my sub! I'm pretty sure the mother of my 9 year old's best friend will do it, if I ask her. She's already invited the 9 year old over for dinner; I'll just ask if her sister can tag along. Otherwise, the 4 year old will be sitting on the floor beside my bike, colouring!
Becky - For Group Fitness, Cycling, and Aqua I'm YMCA certified. For personal training, I'm certified by Can-Fit-Pro. I'm in Canada...are you in the US? I'm not as familiar with the US certs, but I hear ACE is very highly regarded. The other one I hear good things about, in the US, is ACSM. The Ymca certification process was very much the same as the CFP process, and the AFL-CA (which is the other one I could have gotten). I was required to take a Basic Theory course, then pick a stream: land, cycle, or water. Obviously, I eventually did them all. After the course work, we then had to do in-servicing hours, which involves teaching classes alongside another instructor, until we were qualified and experienced enough to begin teaching on our own. Also, for a fairly small fee, Can-Fit-Pro will accept my ymca credentials and grant me their Group Fitness:Land, Cycling, and Aqua certs. If I decide to start doing group fitness in clubs outside the Y, I'll get the CFP certs. Is there anything more specific you're wondering about? I know you can do ACE online. I can also do many CFP courses online. For me, that's a huge advantage. When picking a certifying body, make sure you find out how many Continuing Education Credits (CECs) they want you to get every year, and how feasible it will be for you to do that. There's no point in getting a certification that you can't realistically upkeep. They make their money by selling you the CEC courses, so watch out that they don't require some crazy number every year, and charge you a boat-load of money for each one. The YMCA provides workshops all the time that give me the CECs I need, for free. CFP also recognizes those workshops, if I make an application. That's a major advantage for me. If you want more details, or something specific, just ask! I'll answer the best I know how! (And yes, I figured Staples would charge less to print and bind BFFM, then it would cost me for all that paper and ink. And it was nicely bound).
Brenda - "For those of you who haven't started Month 2, there is nothing to fear, just embrace the new challenges and set your sights on improving with every workout!!" Thank you for these words of motivation! They sound very reassuring!
Jennifer - M2 workouts Rock, huh?! Yay! You guys are getting me excited and impatient to get there! One more week for me, then a Recovery Week, THEN I'll start to understand what the heck you're all talking about! You gotta love the way Shaun layers on the intensity by putting all these workouts in consecutive sequences. Reminds me of some of Cathe's fatloss rotations where she'll put BodyMax the day before Maximum Intensity Cardio.
Colleen - Excellent job on pushing through PCC today! That was me, yesterday. Just had to plug my nose and do it. Do you feel better now?
Dawn - I'm looking forward to doing CCB. That sounds like it's going to be a nice week. Legs & Glutes is NOT a cardio-legs workout. There are maybe 2 plyo moves she throws in to the whole thing. It's lower body conditioning, and your heart rate does get up there because of the squats, leg presses, etc., and moving very quickly from one move to the next. But if you want a GREAT cardio-legs workout, pull out the KPC dvd and do the 80min premix of KPC and Legs & Glutes!!! You get the best of both worlds! I love that premix. I think the same premixes are found on the LG dvd, too. LowMax is fantastic, too! I haven't done that one in ages. Ooooh, I'm starting to miss Cathe! If you want to intensify LM, pick up a medicine ball during all the blasts (except #7). Just move your arms in whatever way seems natural. Good stuff!
Have a great workout and an even better day, Yaaaaaaaa'lllllll!!!!!!
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
