Good Morning Y’All!!

MCC is done, but it wasn’t pretty  It is a great workout I just think that the past 2 days with MIC and MIP have caught up to me. I’m looking forward to a little MR tomorrow (I think that’s what is on the schedule?). Brenda is absolutely right that there is nothing to fear in Month 2 - these workouts rock  I’ve been a little more sore than usual especially my triceps, but that's a good thing.

Looking forward to hearing what you all are up to. Have a super hump day everyone!!

Good Morning Everyone!

This morning was PCC. I struggled a little more than usual but I think it is the result of doing PC on Monday, CPR yesterday and now PCC. I was good and even though I felt like I struggled, I kept reminding myself to push through. I then did GS Chest.

Jennifer, I am glad to hear there is nothing to fear in month 2. I start Labor Day!
Sandra, good job getting through your workout. I agree that how you feel before a workout will be different than during the workout.
Brenda, I miss L&G and B&G, but I think those would fry my glutes even more right now.
Becky, thanks for the good wishes. I had my BFFM bound at kinkos which is a good thing since I lost my hard drive last year and my soft copy is gone.

Good Morning All,
Today I did CCB and decided to add the back and biceps from PS at the end. I was going to do all the upper body PS segments tomorrow, but I think I might do a Cathe Leg intensive cardio workout like LowMax or CTX Kickbox or something like that. Friday I will do CCB and the other 3 PS upperbody segments. :D

Colleen, I'm glad to hear you and the DH are doing better now. Good to see you back. I agree with you and I like to take the best parts of certain diets and combine them to make them work for me. I also struggled whenever the week called for 3 intense cardio workouts in a row too. I think that was the idea (Shaun's crazy idea:p)

Becky, Great job on the running. I envy you. I just have never been a runner. I keep telling myself I want to start, but I really like my other cardio so much better.

Jennifer, Like I mentioned to Colleen, I found the 3rd day of intense cardio caught up to me even in the first month, so you have nothing to worry about if that's happening in M2. :) If it's okay with you, I'm still going to remain scared about M2. :p I figure if I do that it won't seem too bad when I get to it.

Sandra, I read your post late last night before bed and your enthusium made me want to do IMAX2 all over again. I restrained however since I needed to get to bed, plus I went for an hour walk with the neighbors too. No need to over train during RW. LOL Okay, maybe I will try Legs and Glutes for my cardo leg workout if it seems to have enough moderate cardio in it for my liking.... I'll have to check out a preview of it...

Oh I almost forgot, (excuse me while I go way off topic here ) Jennifer, About Twilight. I have not seen the movie or read the books. As a rule I'm usually not a vampire love story fan. I found the Buffy, Angel tortured love story to be WAY over the top. Okay so they dated, I didn't have a problem with that, but it was just a bit eye rollingly sappy at times for my unromantic heart. I liked that Buffy dealt with many different demons and not just vampires I guess. I did check out that link and from the small segments I found Edward (right?) to be creepy and annoying (and not at all sexy if that's what he was going for). When Buffy used him as a "stake cushion" at the end my response was "Yes". Perhaps I would have felt differently had I seen the movie.

Good morning Ya'll!!!!!

What a nice morning. I slept in until 7:30 :D. Today's my rest day. I'm supposed to teach a cycle class at 5:45 today. My childcare plans fell through, so unless I can find someone to look after my 4 year old, I'll need a sub to sub for my sub! I'm pretty sure the mother of my 9 year old's best friend will do it, if I ask her. She's already invited the 9 year old over for dinner; I'll just ask if her sister can tag along. Otherwise, the 4 year old will be sitting on the floor beside my bike, colouring!

Becky - For Group Fitness, Cycling, and Aqua I'm YMCA certified. For personal training, I'm certified by Can-Fit-Pro. I'm in Canada...are you in the US? I'm not as familiar with the US certs, but I hear ACE is very highly regarded. The other one I hear good things about, in the US, is ACSM. The Ymca certification process was very much the same as the CFP process, and the AFL-CA (which is the other one I could have gotten). I was required to take a Basic Theory course, then pick a stream: land, cycle, or water. Obviously, I eventually did them all. After the course work, we then had to do in-servicing hours, which involves teaching classes alongside another instructor, until we were qualified and experienced enough to begin teaching on our own. Also, for a fairly small fee, Can-Fit-Pro will accept my ymca credentials and grant me their Group Fitness:Land, Cycling, and Aqua certs. If I decide to start doing group fitness in clubs outside the Y, I'll get the CFP certs. Is there anything more specific you're wondering about? I know you can do ACE online. I can also do many CFP courses online. For me, that's a huge advantage. When picking a certifying body, make sure you find out how many Continuing Education Credits (CECs) they want you to get every year, and how feasible it will be for you to do that. There's no point in getting a certification that you can't realistically upkeep. They make their money by selling you the CEC courses, so watch out that they don't require some crazy number every year, and charge you a boat-load of money for each one. The YMCA provides workshops all the time that give me the CECs I need, for free. CFP also recognizes those workshops, if I make an application. That's a major advantage for me. If you want more details, or something specific, just ask! I'll answer the best I know how! (And yes, I figured Staples would charge less to print and bind BFFM, then it would cost me for all that paper and ink. And it was nicely bound).

Brenda - "For those of you who haven't started Month 2, there is nothing to fear, just embrace the new challenges and set your sights on improving with every workout!!" Thank you for these words of motivation! They sound very reassuring!

Jennifer - M2 workouts Rock, huh?! Yay! You guys are getting me excited and impatient to get there! One more week for me, then a Recovery Week, THEN I'll start to understand what the heck you're all talking about! You gotta love the way Shaun layers on the intensity by putting all these workouts in consecutive sequences. Reminds me of some of Cathe's fatloss rotations where she'll put BodyMax the day before Maximum Intensity Cardio.

Colleen - Excellent job on pushing through PCC today! That was me, yesterday. Just had to plug my nose and do it. Do you feel better now?

Dawn - I'm looking forward to doing CCB. That sounds like it's going to be a nice week. Legs & Glutes is NOT a cardio-legs workout. There are maybe 2 plyo moves she throws in to the whole thing. It's lower body conditioning, and your heart rate does get up there because of the squats, leg presses, etc., and moving very quickly from one move to the next. But if you want a GREAT cardio-legs workout, pull out the KPC dvd and do the 80min premix of KPC and Legs & Glutes!!! You get the best of both worlds! I love that premix. I think the same premixes are found on the LG dvd, too. LowMax is fantastic, too! I haven't done that one in ages. Ooooh, I'm starting to miss Cathe! If you want to intensify LM, pick up a medicine ball during all the blasts (except #7). Just move your arms in whatever way seems natural. Good stuff!

Have a great workout and an even better day, Yaaaaaaaa'lllllll!!!!!!

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Sandra

So I'm trying to get some ideas from everyone's workouts as to what to do after Insanity - the OCD planner in me is always looking into what's next. I'm thinking my great Insanity results are because of the shock of this intense cardio. Is it best to just break away from Insanity all together (do a Classic P90X round) or mix Insanity with P90X? It's also been a while since I've done GS so maybe mix those with Insanity to keep the burn going. Hmm..decisions.

Dawn - I've always stayed away from sappy love stories and I'm terrified of any gore to like any vampire stuff, but curiosity got the best of me and I rented Twilight to see what the deal was with this Rob Pattinson/Edward Cullen guy. About 10 minutes into the movie I succumbed to the RP/EC effect then ordered & read the books. I watched the Buffy v Twilight clip during my tweenie obsession of RP/EC and it was just perfect to make me laugh about my obsession. In Twilight you become so obsessed with RP/EC through Bella (the main character) and it is hilarious to watch Buffy's opposite effect :D

Anyway, back to the grind ...

Jennifer,

Myself, I'm thinking it will be better to completely switch things up for a bit. I think you're correct and a big factor in the success of Insanity is the shock to the system. I have Shock Cardio on preorder. I'm going to finish Insanity and STS Round 2, then focus on more metabolic/functional fitness training. I can see myself doing P90X+, with some additional, less intense than Insanity, cardio from my instructing. Hopefully I won't be doing that for very long before Shock Cardio arrives, and I can do an SC and STS rotation.

I can see myself being very tired of the Insanity workouts by the end of the rotation. I doubt I'll want to pull them out again for a very long time. I'll probably be asking Shaun to put out Insanity+ Something similar but different.

Sandra

Jennifer, I agree with Sandra on changing things up. After Insanity, I am planning another STS rotation and have also pre-ordered the STS Cardio. I'm thinking I will take week or two to do some random workouts and then start STS again hoping STS Cardio will be available shortly within my starting it. If you don't have STS, then any heavy lifting program with cardio on separate days (like P90X) would probably be a good way to switch things up.

Sandra, Sure just when I figured KickMax would be a perfect fit for what I want to do you have to tempt me with another workout.. :p

Thanks Dawn & Sandra. I'll plan on a week or 2 of some misc. workouts, maybe kettlebells and jump into a Classic round of P90X. Insanity has turned me into a cardio junkie, but I'll settle for the less intense cardio of P90X :)

Yes, that KPC/L&G 80 min premix is awesome!!:p

quick check in....

Sandra~ thank you so much for the great info! I think ACSM is the US certification I was thinking of. Also, it sounds as if your YMCA is more professional and requires better training than ours does, which personally I feel is a good thing! Thanks again! I will probably be asking more questions! :)

Got nothing done today as far as workouts go...plumbing leak under the house....NASTY leak is all I will say....makes me grateful we are currently renting, but still ick!!!
Emergency root canal for DD#3 this afternoon....when it rains it pours
And the 2 at college have been texting me ALL day long which I guess is good because they want to talk to me, but seriously, I've gotten a couple hundred texts from each of them today!

Which as this is about the 3 rd week in a row where my days have just blown up, made me want to seek opinions/advice....
what do YOU do when to keep your workouts going when life gets nuts? I am really trying to incorporate changes which will become a lifestyle, not just a quick fix to get the rest of this weight off.
So, I thought, we are all busy women with crazy lives, maybe we could throw tips out there which could help eachother out when the going gets nuts!
I don't have a tip to start us off with ! LOL! other than I do the best I can to squeeze it in but IMO that still leaves too many days without workouts. I need a plan for these days!

Excellent workouts everyone! I can't wait to join you!!!! Even if you're all posting results for your next rotation, I'd love to stick together!

Okay, not so quick, but must go!

Have a wonderful evening!

Becky

Becky, I am YMCA certified for group fitness and Pilates, YogaFit certified for Yoga and AAFA certified for group fitness and kickbox, and have taken workshops for PowerStrike (kickbox) The YMCA certificate is widely accepted and a decent certification for the money. AAFA was easier than the YMCA. If you are thinking about doing personal training, ACSM is very well regarded, ACE would be right up there also. I no longer teach at the YMCA (the branch near me closed last year), but they accept AAFA cecs and I have intend to keep up that certification. CEC expense is an issue, make sure whatever certifying body you choose you can keep up the cec's with relative ease. If you have a YMCA near you, I would approach them eith your intentions of getting certified. Their certs aren't expensive and if you work there you can get them for free. Most YMCAs are always looking for enthusiastic people to lead and train their members.

As far as today's workout goes, it was Max Interval Circuit (day 4 week 6) and I did much better this second time. I still took breaks, but they weren't nearly as long and I was able to get more repetitions in on each circuit. I never get bummed out if I have an off day or I don't do as well as I expected... I always look at it as an opportunity for improvement.

Once Insanity is over I think I am going to do a week of Power Yoga and then start heavy weights with some slightly less intense cardio until STS/SC comes out.
