Inline skaters - got a dumb question

To go along with my dog/horse/skates story from this morning...the thing that I had the most difficulty with on my maiden voyage with the skates was getting back up off the ground after the horses left.

It's super easy getting up after a fall on regular skates because you've got the wide base and the rubber brakes on the front. I had a heck of a time getting up. Maybe it's because I had bumped my knee and didn't want to kneel on it.

Is there a trick to it?

The only trick I know is the one I learned from skiing, and that is to somehow create a "V" with your heels together.

Edited to add: I hope you wear a helmet. Sorry to be a mother hen, but it's very easy to fall backwards and hit your head on the pavement.

Good luck! :)

Yeah - got a bike helmet, but I guess I've got to get a different one for skating. I just ordered some Rollerblades for my daughter's birthday and will need to get her some safety gear. I'll make sure to get my helmet too.

Thanks, Mom. :)
