In praise of Cathe's creativity!

I was looking at all my workout options from Cathe the other day (I have almost all her dvds) thinking 'Wow, the variety is endless.' And to think she is constantly coming out with new stuff like LMR2, even when dealing with a knee replacement! I love how she blends new moves with familiar ones, giving me a challenge yet not making me feel completely uncoordinated. She always seems to know what I crave although she doesn't know me.
I am so thankful that she offers preordering at such a good price, helping me with my budget. I have no problem waiting for the final product nor buying it "blindly." I know with Cathe's creative touch I'm going to love what she cooks up.
I just want to give an enthusiastic shout out to Cathe and her crew for all they do. Sometimes it's nice to hear 'Good job!' I encourage others to join me and share a positive note here.

Same here ;):)

Cathe collection is full of options..... Options are literally limitless. I do not believe collecting other instructors necessarily guarantee sticking to rotation. Neither does it guarantee any gains.

I am joining you to share positivity here. I am amazed by Cathe creativity.
Here below is one of my favourite move. I wish she revisit this move soon.
One leg slide lunge on a paper plate :)

I've been working out with Cathe from the beginning, starting with "Maximum Intensity Strength" and "Pure Strength" on VHS. Her workouts are the gold standard, in my opinion, in all of the video fitness industry. I've pretty much tried them all - name an instructor and I probably have them in my collection or at least tried it online or from the public library. I'll do rotations with other instructors (currently, I'm doing a rotation with The Firm, Jessica Smith, and Paul Katami - sounds weird, I know), but always come back to Cathe as my workout backbone. With Cathe, I know I can construct a program that is well-rounded, effective, and backed by the latest fitness research. While other instructors were putting out a constant stream of beginner/intermediate workouts, Cathe has always been the shining beacon for the serious exerciser. And she has always gone the extra mile to design valuable DVD pre-mixes and providing free rotations every month. It's pretty incredible. She has even made me like barre and pilates, which I previously hated. At this point, I don't need to know anything about her new workouts to know that I will like it. Her new workouts have been trending less intense over the last few years, but that's OK - we all need an easier day now and then, especially as we get older.

Still hoping she does a RWH2 though :)

Maybe this topic doesn't belong under "new and upcoming workouts"since, well, it's not discussing new and upcoming workouts.

I'll second a RWH2! I love OG RWH!! :D
That is my number one series after STS.

I love love love CLB. Got to love plyo

ETA : This below is a great suggestion. Hmm can Cathe knee take those plyo at this point:oops:

Thank you for sharing this positive thread.

I would rather focus on positive thoughts than wasting time whinging or speculating on the filming schedule:rolleyes: as below:

I did a homemade 12 month rotation of only Cathe and did not repeat a workout in that year (except maybe stretching)! That is how many different videos she has! I was thinking of doing another no-repeat Cathe rotation.
Great job on your 12 month rotation with no repeat. This goes to show how ample cathe collection is.
We do not really need to venture else where!. Well at least not in my opinion.

I personally do not mind repeating an old goody within a week or two. I am into improving the way I execute my moves on the "practice makes better" basis. I have mapped out a 4x4 rotation focused on Bodybuilding. It is going to be just a Cathe collection one.

Exactly why I did this. I want to see more positivity in the anticipation of any of her new workouts. Cathe deserves our support and encouragement because many of us know, as yamabachi so eloquently stated, she is definitely the "gold standard."

Thank you so much for such a well written response. Let's see more of this! It's an absolute privilege to be a Cathlete. I also love when someone mentions a past series like RWH, while we await new stuff, because I end up revisiting and loving older workouts I hadn't dusted off for a while.

I, too, started out with Cathe on VHS. I liked those videos so much, and I was a member of a gym (at the time) that it was years before I actually began expanding my workout library. Most of the other instructors... I did the workout once and ended up donating it. Cathe... when I stopped going to a gym, I officially began collecting her DVDs. Her cuing makes even the first time I do a workout a success. Her form pointers were better and even more specific than what I'd received as a former gym member. After decades of working out to Cathe, I had a set-back and had to completely start my workout journey again (in my mid 50s). I had shelves full of Cathe's mostly advanced workouts and didn't know where to begin. Suggestions from forum members encouraged me to utilize Cathe's premixes. Those premixes are VALUABLE... can't believe I hadn't checked them out before. I have found Cathe to be a great instructor for all stages of my life. I'd always been more of a cardio junkie, but with Cathe, I now really enjoy strength training (much needed at my age. I even do a bit of Barre and Pilates, because of Cathe, and I now love Yoga (something I'd found boring before Cathe). I find her workouts to be enjoyable, and I love that she actually works out with us and her crew AND sweats! lol I sweat when I work out, and it's very disconcerting to me to try to do a video with someone that apparently does not sweat... unmotivating, makes me feel like I'm working TOO hard, which is the opposite of what I want to think/feel. I've always found Cathe's workouts to be worth the wait, and I've always appreciated the attention to detail that she puts into them. I own most of her DVDs, and each one is a treasure. :)

I did Power hour yesterday. one of Cathe's golden gem. This workout was released in 2001. I purchased it as a dvd as I had'nt heard of Cathe during the VHS era. Now this workout is tough. who remember those squats lasting about 6 minutes? Anyway I wanted to revisit it and here I am the day after to tell. I am feeling great. Today was mobility day.

This workout contains many partials. The focus is not a heavy load. It is all about endurance and the challenge is based on partials technic. Trust me it is not all about weight. I was huffing and puffing big time.

I wonder if Cathe remember the technic behind each one of her gems:D:)

Braille, I'm with you on the premixes. They are super valuable. Not only do they help me with variety, I often do not have time for a 45 minute to an hour workout so the time savers are great. Also I'll use a time saver to shorten up a weight routine while lifting really heavy.

Yes! I used to have an "I HAVE to the entire workout" attitude, so I'd never even explored them. It turns out they ARE an entire workout, plus I can taper it to my needs and time available. I've only been lifting heavy (heavy for me) for about 6 months, but I LOVE it, but I'm finding that lifting heavy means I need more than just a short stretch afterwards. To make sure I have time for the thorough stretch that I need, I don't do heavy strength training for as long as I would do lower weights/high reps. I have about an hour to work out most days, but that time slot includes getting equipment out, putting it away, AND whatever "after workout" care (extended stretch or a bit of mobility work) my body needs, so those premixes have been a life-saver.
