IMPORTANT for R-Trippers re: Sunday plane reservations!

Hi 2007 Road Trippers!

We've had several e-mails this weekend already from people who are making travel plans to go home from the Road Trip on Sunday, August 12th, and this has raised an important point that I need to bring to your attention. Please make a note of this!

For those of you booking flights home on Sunday, August 12th:

If you want to attend the Farewell Brunch at the Five Points Diner, please be aware that brunch will end at approximately 11:00 - 11:15, and, to be safe and conservative in your allocation of time, you will then need to allow about 45 minutes to an hour for transport to the airport, PLUS another 90 minutes to 2 hours before your scheduled departure time for pre-flight check-in and security. This means that if you want to go to brunch, you should not book a flight that leaves Philadelphia any earlier than 2:45 - 3:00 p.m.

If you need to take an earlier flight, you'll have to miss the brunch :-(, but you can have breakfast at the hotels and (depending on your flight time) you might be able to take the Early Bird class with Cathe, which is tentatively scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m.

We are working on details of our recommendations for airport-hotel transport and will have that posted shortly. For now, please know that we know some of you will need available transportation to the airport directly from Cathe's gym on Sunday morning, and we are also figuring out airport transport from the brunch -- you'll either be picked up directly from the Diner or you'll be taken back to the hotels and picked up there, and we're pondering that one. :)

More soon! :)

Sunday Travel

Kathy:

Thank you! This makes my decision easy because I was trying to decide between a 1:30 p.m. flight and a 3:30 p.m. flight. I am one of the ones who e-mailed Debbie about this.

Will we return to the hotel between the early bird class and the brunch? If not, I would definitely prefer to return to the hotel after the brunch. We have a noon check-out time. It would be nice to leave our bags in our rooms and not have to deal with them. Not to mention, getting everyone up and packed and checked out before the early bird class would be challenging. I would prefer to return to the hotel and check-out just before noon, but whatever y’all decide works for me.

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Sunday Travel

I agree with Heather. I was thinking the same thing when I read Kathy's post. If we leave for the airport after the brunch, where will all the luggage go?

I know you girls have it all together and will do a great job. I already figured, my flight to be around 4PM. Keep us posted on everything. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and sweating together!

RE: Sunday Travel

Hi Heather and Cheryl!

Heather, the bus will take us directly from the gym to brunch. We know from our 2005 experience that this is necessary in order for us all to get to brunch, get our food ordered, get served, have hugs and tears and photo ops with Cathe and each other, and get out of there on our schedule. We will have a little time (not a whole lot, but enough if we're quick) to clean up after class, though, before we jump on the bus and go to brunch.

Deb, Lorrayne and I agree with you both that option #1 (bus takes Trippers back to the hotel after brunch and then airport vans pick up Trippers at the hotels to go to the airport) would be best because of all of our luggage. We're exploring option #2 (airport vans pick up Trippers and take us from Diner directly to airport) simply because we're trying to be really careful about mapping out our timetable and making sure that we have everyone in a position to pick up airport transport in time for their flights. All three of us are hopeful that option #2 won't turn out to be necessary. But if it is, we'll work out the luggage situation with the bus company. :)

RE: Sunday Travel

Cheryl & Heather...Just want to make this clear...you will have either option if we decide to go with option 2 also...if you PERFER to go back to hotel first, that will always be an option. #2 is just a possibility at this time. Hope this makes sense.

My Understanding

Catherine:

Here is my translation. They are planning to have the bus return us to the hotel after brunch so we can check-out before noon and catch the airport shuttles from the hotel. The coordinators are looking into the possibility of having additional airport shuttles pick up people at the diner to catch early flights. Cheryl and I wrote that we prefer the first option of leaving our luggage in our rooms and returning to the hotel after brunch to check-out and leave for the airport from there. Debbie was just assuring us that this will always be an option. They are looking into the possibility of having additional airport shuttles pick up people at the diner, but this would be offered as an option (if needed) instead of having everyone do this. If they decide to make this available, you will have the choice of leaving straight from the diner after brunch or returning to the hotel and catching the airport shuttle from there.

I hope that helps! I only got 3 hours of sleep last night, so it may not make any sense. ;-)

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: My Understanding

Ha! Catherine, read Heather's explanantion! She made it much clearer then I did. (Thanks Heather!) Sooo, basically we HOPE to have BOTH options...# 1 option will be a definite and we HOPE to have option #2 ALSO! Deb, who also got only 3 hours sleep! :7

Oh no! I booked my flights yesterday and got the 2:00 flight from Philadelphia. I wonder if I should try and change it or wait until you decide if you are going to have transportation right from the Diner. That should still leave me plenty of time to get to the airport and through security to make my flight.

Hmmmm, I think I'll wait it out and see what happens. I'd hate to miss the brunch. But I guess if I could still make the class, that would be okay.

My Kind of Editing!!!

Kathy:

Be careful what you wish for! ;-) I am not your conventional editor. Most editors trim down writings to make them more concise. I would return each post to you with at least 100 extra words! :7 LOL! You are funny and oh so brave. :7

My friends tease me about having the gift of words and words and words. If you are ever at a loss for words, let me know! I will be glad to send a few your way. ;-)

Blessings,
Heather B.

Thanks for addressing this! I hadn't even thought of that and fortunately, I have't booked my airplane tickets yet!!! I will definitely keep this in mind for when I do!!!

Oops, booked mine for 2:12. I guess I'll take my chances. Hopefully we can arrange transportation from the diner. :)

Hi everyone,

I just returned from a business trip and have had no online access to a computer. I wanted to mention that Rapid Rover will pick you up from the diner. I'll provide you with costing information tomorrow.

Lorrayne

FANTASTIC!!! Thank you Lorrayne! I've been a little worried about making my 2:00 flight back to to Boston.

This should work out perfect!

Thanks for all you ladies do. It is much appreciated!

C U in August!!!
