Imax 2

Hi all,

I love Imax 2, but I want to know how long it took you to be able to complete the whole thing -- I haven't accomplished this yet and at times it is so frustrating.

I can get all the way through blast 5 without much trouble but after that I'm just dying! The step routines I have down but the blasts just kick my behind! UGH!!!

I know I'll conquer it eventually, thats one of the things I love about Cathe's workouts I feel so incredibly accomplished when I do one of her routines without fail!!! But geez, this one is really hard for me.

I know what you mean. It took a while before I got to the end. I used to just do the first five and stop. For me it was building up my endurance. What I did was KPC three times one week. The next week IMAX2 was my cardio and I was able to do it all the way through. I did IMAX2 last week after not doing it for a few weeks. I got all the way through but it whipped me.

I'm in excellent shape and still have a time getting through this workout past the first five. Whatever that pre-mix is on the DVD. Part of it is the frustration level with not getting the choreography. I am just not a dancy coordinated individual.

Try doing the intervals 6-10 premix (w/ blasts) by itself a few times so your body adjusts faster to the extra exertion required during those intervals. That way you won't be worn out by the time you get to them! Cathe says that blasts 6-9 are much harder than the first 5 (blast 10 she goes easy on you). I agree it's an endurance adjustment for your body, but it's combined with greater difficulty factor.

Like the others said, when you go back to the workout, do the first half and just one or intervals at a time from the second half, but make sure the last interval you add is #10 (the pina colada song). It's sounds crazy but it's kind of like a "reward" for your hard work because that song is so much fun. Before you know it, you'll be doing the whole workout. If you know you've done what's coming up, it's not as overwhelming mentally or physically.

Hi Allison,

My bad! Sorry I forgot about those. I never, ever do turning power squats because of my knees so I tend to block them out. Instead, I do little plies jumps (kind of like what Cathe does in B&G during the walking lunge sequences). Not as intense to be sure, but saves my joints a LOT of wear and tear. That way, my knees live to step another day....

Allison, I feel the same way about blast 10. I'm tuckered out by that time.

Thanks Ladies for your encouragement, suggestions and support. I'm in great physical shape and consider myself in the advanced category, but this one always gets me.

It's on my rotation for tomorrow so I'm going to see what I can do.

Thanks again!!

Travis :)

I find Blast 10 to be tough too. But I always have to laugh because the first time I did it, I was dying after the first set of squat turns and thinking it was over (because she does say something like 9 is hard but 10 is easier--not!)and then she says "okay we have to do it on the other side" and I said out loud "I can't!" and she immediately replied "Oh yes you can!" Almost spooky! And makes me laugh everytime!

Hi-

This one, and iMax3, and the cardio blast section of KickMax always kill me. My heart and lungs are usually pretty game to get through the whole thing...but the plyo jacks and the plie jacks killed me every time. My legs just couldn't take it.

I just did as much as I could and then subbed a blast exercise that I COULD do all the way through, until I found myself making it through more and more of each different blast. I find the first blast on iMax2 to be pretty doable, so I'd just substitute those "swim forwards" and "off the backs" whenever I couldn't keep up anymore.

I do the same thing to pick up new choreography. I just pick a six or eight-count routine that I CAN do, and have it in mind if I hit a new segment that makes me feel like I'm going to fall over. After a few times through, I start adding in some of the new steps where I can. Eventually I get it, and I can still get a good work out even if I get confused.

Psssst! Hey! I got a little secret for you! When doing this hella fun arse whooper you can hit the pause button and wheeze for a little while until you can find the wherewithal to resume the workout. No one will know...not even Cathe. ;-)

Yea, I'm not above pausing --

the plyo jacks kill, but I love the way they make my legs feel!

okay, I'll admit the one move I can't get down with any grace. . . and this is really stupid is the pivot turn -- I feel so silly typing that, but its true! And on those ones where she does the peg leg and the pivot turn, forget about it!

Love her though and I keep trying!
