Imax 2 VS Body Max 2

Hi everyone!!! Im a newbie both to this forum and to Cathe F.!!!:)

But, reading a lot about her in the past few days makes me want to buy my first DVD to try her out.

I used to belong to a gym for the past 3 years and would do cardio on machines and lately have been doing step.

So I would love a step work out plus a good toning dvd too!!!

I don't mind the intensity as im willing to stop and build my stamina along the way as I just recently stopped exercising a month ago.

Should I go with IMAX 2 or Body Max 2.

I really need a lot of motivation from the music and cueing so that I know that i will continue to do it.

I do have a step, ankle velcro weights, dumbbells, ball but don't have those resistance bands but has the figure of eight resistance instead:D

Thanks in advance!!!

I love IMAX2. It's all step, simple choreography, and the music is very motivating. You'll do several circuits of basic step routines followed by intensity blasts (some plyometrics). It's around 50 minutes and you'll sweat. A great cardio workout. I don't have Body Max, but I'm sure it's good. I've never purchased a cathe dvd i didn't like. I'm sure you'll be buying more! Btw, you might want to try 4 Day Split. It has 4 different cardio routines plus a 4 day split weight training. As set up, you do 30 mins cardio (Low intensity step, High Intensity Step, Kickbox, or Bootcamp) followed by 30 min weights (different body part each day). You can also choose from the variety of premixes on this dvd, such as double cardio or cardio/weight circuit and many others. It's a good introduction to Cathe.

Imax 2 is great (high intensity) and included on the DVD is Cardio & Weights. The Cardio & Weights is a good circuit workout and also has a premix for just the step routines.

Body Max 2 is a 90 minute circuit workout comprised of 3 step routines, then 4 intervals that include a short step routine, a blast, then weights. It has several premixes that allow for the cardio only or weights only.

Either way, you can't go wrong. With both you get excellent step routines and weight training. Plus you get tons of premixes to choose from.

Hope that helps,
Heather

Here are some differences:

IMAX 2 - steady state step and interval workout - 55 minutes. 10 combos and 10 intervals.

Cardio & Weights - steady state step and compound weight work; great ab work - 60 minutes.

Body Max 2 - steady state step first then separate cardio blasts and leg work. Upper body work all on the ball. Great ab work. Full workout is 97 minutes but has great premixes. Love the bootcamp premix.

For me, IMAX 2 and C&W have more fun choreography. Body Max 2 choreography is very repetitive to me. Both are great workouts but the IMAX 2/C&W is better for me on the time factor. Body Max 2 has long premixes except for one which is 43 minutes.

Great music on both.

I have to say that I am pretty new to Cathe too and both are great workouts! I really like Body Max because it really makes you work and it's doable. IMAX2 is awesome too though and has a great challenge factor.

Whatever one you get you won't be disappointed. I really like the Cardio and weights ab work out too.

Helpful aren't I!
Good luck
Heather

Because it's the featured discounted DVD, I vote you get I-Max 2 / Cardio Weights. You do get some high-octane cardio in I-Max 2, lighter cardio and compound weight training in Cardio Weights, some great premixes, and a core routine that will serve you well for years! I love Body Max 2 for its power circuit segment and its core routine; however, you really can't go wrong with I-Max 2 / CW so get that while it's discounted!

I have to say that Body Max 2 is my least favorite of all Cathe's DVDs. Do you have a stability ball? Most of the weights are done on it.

That said, I love 4-DS (as recommended above) and would like to suggest Low Impact Circuit. Both of these are WONDERFUL! I don't have Imax 2, although I'm tempted to get it.

Good luck and have fun!

Welcome!

Go with Imax 2 because it comes with CW and has a lot of great premixes. If you want to join a check-in please feel free to pop into the New Runners if you like to jog.
