I'm venting about my doc

Had to go back to the doc for my refill of my daily med's. I've lost 17# - all by myself but he had to lecture me on my eating and try to sell me his medical weight loss junk or his medical support staff phone service and THEN instead of giving me my refills he wants me back in two months to check my weight loss progress.

I'm pissed. I don't need him checking my progress and I just wanted my 6 month refills and be done with him. Then I ask about old age bladder control when I'm jumping/sneezing and he runs to get me some samples of a bladder med's. I did not want med's - my question was will kegels and/or stronger Abs help. What are the side effects of this stuff anyway. I did not even get a chance to show him my band-aid skin eating rash because he pissed me off about the other stuff, I waiting an hour and I just wanted out of there. And I'm pissed that I sit there and take that crap and don't tell him NO and to just give me my refills.

I need to find another doctor and find some balls to take charge of my medical visits.

I'm sorry your doctor is an ass. I am lucky in that I trust and love all my doctors - and I've collected quite a few in the past few years - hee!

Do you have one doctor that you like (your OB/GYN, perhaps?) that could recommend a new doctor? For example, my PCP was an jackass who did not take me seriously and treated me as if I was wasting his time, so I asked one of my oncologists to recommend a new Primary Care doctor that would "get it" when it came to caring for former breast cancer patients and their particular concerns. She did, and I just adore my new PCP!

Sorry you had such a bad visit! He sounds like one of those doctors in the pocket of the pharma companies! A real pill pusher, as long as it's the ones he gets for free! Take control and get a REAL doctor! It's hard to find one these days, but you should so you can take care of your medical issues and feel like you're being treated properly and respectfully!

Wow! Dr's like that acutally exist? Dump that Doc and find a new one. His loss. Sorry you had to go through that.
 
that really sucks, admire your restraint b/c i don't think i could bite my tongue. ITA to find a new doc. ppl like him give the medical profession a bad rap.

I've been a LONG time lurker, but this thread made me want to post.

2 years ago I quit smoking and gained 30 pounds. When I went to my Endo. for a script refill he told me I'd gained to much weight. Unstead of being happy that I quit smoking he told me I was an obese idiot for not taking fat burners and diet pills to lose the weight. I now have a new doctor.

WTH?! I'm going to talk to MY doctor about this the next time I see her. I can't believe crackpots like the doctors being talked about here are allowed to practice medicine. Emphasis on the work "practice" because they're a long way from perfect.

oh of course he wants you to use fat burners b/c then he can make a finical killing off your liver damage and heart disease these things can cause.

funny i start typing this and the acetamiophen story comes on, can't take tylenol myself makes me sick but what do dr. recommend when you have slight pain?
