Lynda ~
I'm speaking from experience when I suggest that you be very careful in examining on your own what the cause of your enlarged lymph nodes may be. Ten years ago, after the birth of my daughter, I went back to my OBGYN for the six week post-natal checkup. He discovered that my platelet count was extremely low and immediately referred me to a hematologist at the major cancer center in a city close by. The two weeks that I waited for that appointment was a nightmare. Here I was, a 22 year old brand new mother, thinking the worst was going to happen. My mother, bless her heart, checked out various medical dictionaries from the library and discovered that a low platelet count could signify Hodgkins Disease, leukemia, and a myriad of other cancer-related illnesses. I was devestated.
All that worrying was useless, however, when I went to my appointment with the hematologist, as there was a very simple explanation for my low platelet count. It turns out that my platelets are there in my blood; they just clump up together when mixed with the solution in the "purple capped top" and it appears I have next to none! The hematologist told me that there was a long name for my condition, but I just needed to remember to tell doctors that they may get a miscount when mixing my blood in a certain solution.
Moral of the story ~ wait until you get definitive results from your doctor before researching too much. There's just too much information out there to make you worry your head off!
Hugs to you!
