I've noticed that I readily offer up my real age, just to get people's reaction, "*GASP! You're 38?1?! You look like you're in your late 20's". I always know it will be said...and yet...I always love hearing it. And I reply demurely, "oh, go on..."

I'm so obnoxious.:D
 
Oh yeah...I've never been a sun-bather. It makes me nuts. And when I'm in the sun, I always have sunscreen on.
 
Uh oh...me too. I'll be 40 in January. It's nice to see the surprised look on their faces when they find out.

I do that too, not with my age, but with the fact that I have had three kids and still have an awesome stomach. I really just use it to draw attention away from my thighs, but hey! I will take what I can get and use it to distract eyes from what I didn't get! :p
 
Your post reminded me of a man who used to go to my church. His grandson was a friend of my son - so he knew my son and always kidded him about having "his sister" with him in church. I LOVED that! That man has since passed on and I sure do miss those compliments. There's nothing like a nice comment like that to make your day! :)
 
Me too!! People can't believe I'm 36. I get carded every single time and I love it! :)

I was just recently at a wedding and the bartender wouldn't serve me because I needed my id. I went back to my table to get my purse walked up there and he said he thought I was right out of high school!

I used to hate looking so young but everyone kept telling me I'd love it when I got older, and now I'm loving it finally!

Ditto here. I'm always proud to say I'm 37 & love the reaction I get. Would love to say I'll never lie about my age but in 10 years.....well, I guess it all depends on how skillful my cosmetic surgeon is. :)
 
I got carded to enter a casino at our local fairgrounds last year. You only have to be 18 to get into there (no alcohol). I asked the gaurd if he was kidding and he said "no". He laughed when he saw my ID, then I kissed him on the cheek. I think we made each other's day.
 
LOL!! I think i'm guilty of the same!!!
I was mistaken for a friends son (age 11) older sister the other day.
That made my day, but then i got to thinking, maybe i'm in some sort of denial about my true age. I still dress young (i'm 38) and wear my hair kind of long.

Oh well, i can tell you, i'll feed off that compliment for weeks to come.
 
There's no age limit on long hair. I'm never going to be one of those "blue hairs" who gets her "do" set. Of course, my hair never gets REALLY long anyway. Down to my shoulder blades is the longest it's ever been. It just doesn't seem to want to go any further.
 
I'm 46 and have had it frequently assumed that I am 10 years younger. I know they're not just saying it to be nice when I see the look on their face when I tell them my real age. In my case, I think it helps that I am so small and also that my skin has always been oily and I have been using retinol for a number of years so I have fewer wrinkles than I normally would at this age. At least that's what I tell myself.

I agree Donna--in fact I've just started growing my hair longer. I got it cut really short in '98 when I started my so called career, but I've decided if I really have to look serious & professional I can just wear it up. It's finally a few inches below the shoulders & I really like it. It's helped cut down on the frizzies since I have more to weigh down my hair.

Also I wear what would be considered "young" clothes. Not to work but for the beach & for nights out. I feel like I look better in these clothes than most 25 year olds (at least my stomach doesn't hang out & my waist doesn't bulge over the sides of my pants). Just like you can now wear white before Memorial Day & after Labor Day (although I have to admit I wouldn't dare LOL) I think the rules of "age appropriate" clothes are not written in stone.
 
Donna, I think you have really good bonestructure & skin, that's why you look so young. I took my 14 year old daughter for a haircut & her stylist commented to her while I was out of earshot, that I was so skinny. That was nice to hear. I know she meant it in a nice was.

I'd love it if I could wear my age on a huge badge on my shirt!!! That would be kind of tacky so instead I teach the kids "Now, how old is mommy?"LOL!!! I think I look pretty good for 32 and for having 2 kids 18 months apart!

As for dressing "young"...some of us don't have a choice but to shop the junior section!LOL!!! Besides, I'll dress old when I feel old! As long as nothing nasty is hanging out (no Catheites need worry about that) then I say HAVE FUN with your clothes!!!;)
 
Okay, tonight i officially feel young.
DD came to MY closet to borrow clothes LOL
Did i mention she was 12 and they FIT her??

By the way, did I mention that I can buy a lot of my tops, sweaters, etc. in GapKids or in the kids department at Old Navy?? No pants/shorts though. I have hips and they don't (yet).
