Pardon me for barging into an Ask Cathe question, but....

If you are 5'5" and only 105 lbs., you are not FAT, I'm sure, and I'm sure you're not a lost cause. Please get yourself some help, and you could start by seeing a registered dietian. You could also see a personal trainer, and if money is an issue, try to see one at your local Y - their prices are probably the most reasonable.

You are, no doubt, seeing a different image in your mirror that no one else sees. You may very well have an eating disorder.

Just Do It! :)

It's possible you might have food allergies or sensitivities. This can definitely cause puffiness and bloating, particularly abdominal bloating, while the rest of the body remains overly thin. It makes perfect sense when you think about it. If you are eating foods you are unable to digest properly, your belly will become distended with poorly digested food and and gas, while the rest of your body is basically starving for nourishment.

It can be difficult to detect which foods you are reacting to because it's often more than one, and often something you consume a lot. Allergens can also lurk hidden in other foods you think are safe. Some common offenders are sugar, wheat, egg, dairy, soy, corn and peanuts.

If you think this might be a problem for you, you can read more about it here:

Consulting with a registered dietitian or an alternative physician could be helpful.

I understand about being a "skinny-fat": you look slim, but there is no muscle tone. I don't think anyone is a "lost cause", but you may need to be more patient.

I'll take a stab at some advice, but this is just MHO!
I suggest not using the supplements you mentioned, but to get on a consistent weight training program. I don't know how often you exercise or what you do, but I'll assume you're starting from scratch with weight training (adjust from there): Start with 3 full-body workouts a week, then progress to a split routine with two upper-body days and two lower body days. Keep cardio to a minimum, as it will work against building muscle, but do enough to keep cardiovascularly fit (30-45 minutes a day, 4-5 times a week).
Try this consistently for at least five weeks and see what happens.

I hope we arent a lost cause. I am 5'4" 100lbs. My upper body is skinny, no body fat at all, however my lower half needs work. I
workout 6 days a week. Due to knee problems high impact is out of the question, so now I am even bigger below the waist. I dont
know what can fix abs and etc. I just got the video Curl and I hope that helps the abs, but I still need help on the lower half.
Good luck to you.

I agree with honeybunch. I think you need to see a doctor and a dietician. Have you kept a food diary? I think that before you do anymore weight training, or vigorous exercise, you should get an evaluation by medical professionals.

sorry everyone,i don't need to keep repeating myself, but i have seen a doctor,i do not have any health problems,if i were completely overweight and wanted to lose,no one would think i had a bad self image,if i were completley skinny and wanted to gain(which is mostly it)i am told i should be happy with my "delicate" look, there is such a thing as being thin but having bodyfat, just because you are small does not mean you are in shape and healthy,i do admit,i probably do need to see a dietican,i do eat,i eat alot, maybe not the right things,i drink protein shakes with my meals...i would like to tone, shape and gain muscle...tone what bodyfat i do have, and i do have it.like i said,if you all could see me,you would agree, like my friend who has,and of course my sisters, since we are all built the same, they don't want to gain, they are fine with it,,my family is built like this, there is nothing wrong with wanting to gain muscle and lose fat...isn't that what people want, just because i am very thin naturally, doesn't mean i have an eating disorder,i would like advice on gaining muscle not fat(who wants that) and toning up my stomach and back.
