I'm a beginner... What to do next?

I just purchased the set from Target that included my step, dumbbells, resistance band, and a couple DVDs.

So far I have done Basic Step and now Body Fusion -- I work out 6 days a week, and I am getting pretty good at Body Fusion at 6". I am still having trouble making it thru cardio #3 -- those uneven lunges and the "swim" move are killer!

Once I feel ready to move on, what is the next DVD I should invest in? I am still a novice, but I want a good workout that will make me sweat!

Congrats on your purchase! The next purchase after Basic Step and Body Fusion would be Lower Impact Step which contains an easy to learn step workout and a strength workout that incorporates a ball. If you dont have a ball, dumbells would work. (Don't confuse this workout with Low Impact Circuit which is a bit more complex in terms of choreography and sweat factor). For a strength training workout, I'd recommend either the Push Pull/Supersets dvd or maybe even the Pyramids. Any of Cathe's workouts that use a barbell can easily be modified with dumbells. Good Luck!

When I "graduated" from Cathe's beginner rotation, I went to Cardio & Weights, but that was before the release of Low Impact Circuit. Either one is great, but I'm a little partial to LIC. Good luck!

I agree with ^^^ that Low Impact Circuit has more slightly challenging choreography, but I think that or LowMax would be a great next step. They are both super fun and have great music. They are two of my favorites, so I might be biased! Once you get used to Cathe's cueing, everything falls into place. Let us know what you choose!

Edit to say that it also depends on what you are looking for - cardio, weights, circuit training?

Thanks for the suggestions!

The dvd that I have has Basic Step, Body Fusion, and Low Impact step all on the one dvd. I think I will do Body Fusion in the morning, then try some of LIS when I get home from work..

I am afraid to try something too hard because I don't want to fumble around for 45 minutes trying to figure out the choreography and not actually work up a sweat.

To the last poster^^mostly I want a good cardio workout with fun choreography and music

This was a great post, thank you! :)

I am fairly new too, and I am on the right track!

The Classics or Cardio Hits DVDs are a good next step for pure cardio workouts if you don't mind them being a little dated.

Collinsmom,I agree,Step combo #3 is still a bit of a challenge for me! Low Impact Step is fun and it comes with Total body scultping which is a good sculpting workout!(did it wesnday as a matter of fact ;-) ) I love the music!

I recently ordered Low Impact Circuit with barbells and dynabands and can't wait to get them and start!
