My DH is a Lt. with our police department here. Yesterday one of the motorcycle cops got in a really bad accident while working. He tore his aorta (which has been repaired), broke his hip, broke his arm in 3 places, lost a kidney and lost a finger and half of another one. He is in critical condition, as you can imagine. DH just got a call that he has taken a turn for the worse. Apparently lactic acid is building up and they're afraid he might not make it.
This guy is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He's 54. His wife had lung cancer and he took care of her for about 5 years. She was terribly sick. He almost lost his house due to the medical expenses. You could see the exhaustion in his eyes as he worked a second job as a photographer (and a great one) to make ends meet. His wife passed away about a year ago and he met another wonderful woman who had been through a similar situation. They were to be married in 3 weeks. I've seen him a few times over the past couple of months and the man just completely lights up when he talks about her. He is SO happy. We just saw him on Saturday and he could hardly wait until his wedding. He's like a little kid with excitement.
Please, please pray for his recovery. We're just waiting for another guy to arrive at the hospital and call with an update. We may be heading to the hospital soon if it looks really bad.
