If you love pilates......

...and you're an advanced exerciser you're missing out if you don't have the Winsor Pilates Maximum Burn Super Sculpting and Body Slimming workout. I've had that DVD for awhile but I rarely did it and last night I tried it again. Jeez! I forgot how hard and great that workout was. I will definitely try to add that workout to my rotations more often.

YES, YES, YES!! I LOVE THIS WORKOUT SO MUCH!!! I can't believe how fast the inches just melted away. It's tough but I'm not as sweaty as when I do a Cathe workout, however I saw results and so quickly!! Before this I was at a plateau. In just 4 weeks of doing this workout, I lost 2 1/4 inches from my waist and my jeans are looser in the rear and thighs. I also dropped about 6 1/2 pounds. I couldn't believe it. I do this workout 3 times a week and then some Cathe cardio or cardio at the gym around 2 to 3 times a week. Holy cow does this work! I really didn't change my diet all that much either...just ate sensibly.

Also, the first time I tried this workout my abs and especially the area around my rib cage was so sore for 3 days. I had been doing Cathe ab workouts too before this and still was very sore after the Winsor Pilates Maximum Burn 50 minute workout. It's fantastic! I bought it from collage for $14.95.

Well, I ordered it from Collage. I hope it works as well for me as it did for Dani.

I read where it's very fast paced. I've been wanting to try Pilates but was always afraid it would be too slow for me. Let's see what happens!

Thanks for your recommendation. $19.95 with shipping for a DVD is very reasonable:7

Everybody who's serious about working out should have that DVD (or video). It is really tough. I have lots of pilates workouts and I've previewed a lot of them too and they're always the same exercises. With this one you get the classics, variations on the classics, and exercises I've never seen before. I still have problems with my form doing "the teaser", but that's the only one cause I can do "the jacknife" without any problems. I'm hoping that will change soon :).

Thanks Rose. Maybe I should give pilates another try. I really hate the slowness of pilates, but it's good to here that this one picks up the pace a little more and is tough.

I have ordered the new set of winsor pilates with the tubing, and read the post last week where Dani told us about the wonderful results
she is having.I am ordering it too. Thanks Rose and Dani I have to have it now.

Have a good evening everyone good night.

Debbie

I was wondering..is this workout "back friendly"? I have back issues, but I do most of Cathe's ab work with just a very few modifications. I'd love to try something different for a while. \

Also, if you do just pilates and cardio for a time, will it be hard to get back into weight training?

Thanks!
Susan

Hi Susan,

I still go back and do a weight training workout from time to time and have no problems whatsoever. Also, I sit at a desk during the day and sometimes have upper back stress, but since doing Pilates I have no more back strain. I'm no professional doctor and I don't know how severe your back issues are, but in my situation Pilates actually helped. It helped my core get a lot stronger and gave me better posture. I would definitely ask your doc if Pilates would be okay for you though, especially if your back problems are severe.

Good luck!

For all of you who do pilates somewhat regularly, do you do only pilates or do you combine it with strength training and/or cardio? And, if so, in what combinations?

I love pilates and have many pilates videos (many, many workout videos/DVDs period!). And I have the Winsor Pilates: Maximum Burn Series. Whoa, what a workout! She does kill you in that one. I can't get that move that they start out with, where they are standing in a "genie" position with the legs crossed and bend back so far until they're sitting. I don't know what's wrong with me but I just can't seem to get that one!

Anyway, (sorry this turned out so long) I am torn between working with the weights and doing the pilates as my mainstay workout. I love them both greatly! So I am very interested in how any of you combine them in your rotations.

Even if you're an advanced exerciser when it comes to cardio and weight training if you've never done pilates you can't consider yourself advanced in pilates as well. You have to start with easier workouts and work up to advanced level workouts.

Is it back friendly? Most pilates moves are not. (I'm just thinking about the jacknife, teaser and others) But if you start with easier tapes and you learn the form well, you can definitely work up to advanced levels. Your abdominal muscles protect your back and you have to keep your abdominal muscles contracted (this is what they call engaging the core) on every pilates move. I've been doing pilates for years and I still have problems with some moves, but that's cause I don't do pilates every day. I do it 3-5 times a week (that includes the Winsor's Bun & Thigh workout (18mins) twice, the Advanced Body Slimming workout once or twice (21mins) and the one I mentioned here once a week (50mins). I mix the shorter workouts with my Cathe tapes.

If you do pilates and cardio long enough and stop doing weight training when you go back to weight training again you will notice that you will have to decrease the weight you usually do for certain exercises. It's not that pilates makes you weaker it's the fact that your muscles work in a different way. This happens with pilates matwork exclusively, not with pilates performers and reformers. I've found that these help me gain strength for no-weight exercises like push ups, planks, and tricep dips.

Actually I've been doing pilates tapes for quite a while now, especially the Winsor Pilates series. I know I'm not advanced but I hope to get there one day. That's one of the goals.

I was just wondering what combination of strength training, cardio and pilates is best for building a bit (or at least maintaining) my upper body, and slimming my middle and low half and losing about 20lbs?

Sanchia

Sorry I saw your post after I posted a reply for Susan.

I don't have a constant combination of cardio and strength training. Depends on the rotation I'm doing at the moment. I can't stay on one thing because I hit plateaus. However like I said I try to add pilates 3-5 times a week and yoga once a week to any combination of cardio and strength training I'm doing.

Rose, I just wanted to say thanks for the good information. I ordered tha advanced slimming one to add on to my work outs too, and a few of the advanced. The advanced slimming looks great, I haven't got them yet, I didn't order until they had all the tapes in I wanted to order.
I really plan on adding in pilates a lot more. tHANK YOU SO MUCH.

Have a great weekend.

RE: Cheapest?????

I think the cheapest place might be www.collagevideo.com, that is where I have ordered tons of tapes, great customer service, the new one Rose, and Dani were talking about I believed they ordered off collage video, I did as well. I am excited to get it. You can watch a
preview there to and read what other customers had to say about them, they are very inspiring feedbacks from customers who have tried them, I hope this helped some. GOOD LUCK.

Debbie:) :) :) :)

Have a wonderful weekend.

RE: Cheapest?????

Hello you guys. Yeah I buy my non-Cathe videos at collagevideo.com. Actually I get the catalog from collage and I buy from the catalog. Sure you could buy Winsor almost anywhere (at least the first set of workouts), but nobody will give you Collage's lifetime warranty (yes they will replace defective videos you buy from them as long as you own them).

I've been a customer for years (bear in mind I've been working out with videos since the 90's and I discovered Cathe through collage) and I only one time I had a problem which by the way was a defective Winsor Pilates tape and they replaced the video with no questions asked. I got the new tape in a couple of days.

Changing the subject, hey Deb I'm glad you're incorporating pilates to your workouts. Just give it a couple of weeks. Is it totally necesary to do that even when you do Cathe weekly? Probably not, but you will see and feel the difference. It's just a new type of cross-training for me. If I don't do my pilates I feel like I'm losing my posture and if I don't do yoga I feel stiff. I think Cathe, Mari (Winsor), and Baron (Baptiste) form the perfect workout marriage :)

RE: Cheapest?????

Thanks Rose, it sounds like you have been doing pilates for a long time and have had great success, what I am hoping when I get them is to tone my thighs, well slim them down for me the heavy weights have seemed to bulk them up more than I want.I will still do weight traing annd of coarse my Cathe cardio, but I am going to get serious about my pilates.

Rose, I still can't find the shorter ones you were talking about on collage. I found the title but the minutes were just different, wanted to get the shorter ones like you mentioned as well to do with a cathe cardio. Thanks, it is nice to get some great feed back from someone who has been doing pilates a long time and seeing great results.

MANY THANKS TO YOU.

DEBBIE:) :D :) :) :)

RE: Cheapest?????

I have the catalog right by my side. They're called the Winsor Pilates Targeted series. I've never seen these on infomercials or on any store. Maybe only collage carries them. You can do a search by item number. I'll give them to you.

Buns & Thighs VHS: #5056 DVD: #7083
Advanced Body Slimming VHS: # 5097 DVD: #7103

There are also two more workouts that belong to the targeted series, but I don't have them (I don't think I will buy them either) they're called Abs Sculpting and Upper Body Sculpting.

I hope this is helpful.
