I wish...

Well said, Carla. I bet there are a lot more of us that like getting responses from everyone then there are people who don't want to hear from anyone except Cathe.

I agree with you 100% on that statement! I don't get either Nancy.

LOL! THat is hilarious A-Jock!

I don't visit the Ask Cathe much; I'm too addicted to the open discussion to waste my time on anything else.

Please A-jock and others...keep posting there. Sometimes those are the only answers and they are usually good ones. It is also awesome when Cathe answers but I think the people who welcome other's responses far outweigh the people who don't. I just ignore those kinds of things and post where I want unless Cathe specifically asks for different. I don't really post there that much anyway, but I always read the posts and responses. I would hate it if the only way people could ask Cathe AND others was to double post in Ask Cathe and Open Discussion as I would not want to read the same post in both forums. Good grief. Change for the better is welcome but the whinning and complaining lately has gotten ridiculous!
Angela
P.S. Sorry...I've had a very bad horrible no good day.;(
Edited to say that yes...I realize that I just whinned(sp?) and complained...sorry.

Wouldn't it be cool if there were a "smilie" or symbol to use when you wanted to answer a question on the " Ask Cathe" that would refer the poster to the open Discussion board? I've been thinking about this for a while. If you don't get a resposne from Cathe ( and most of the time you won't) then you could check the Open board for the symbol and you user name for an answer from anyone willing to take a stab at it....just a thought. dmd

I've never asked Cathe anything myself, but I certainly wouldn't want to be her and having to answer questions on

Fake nails
Hair pieces
Her favourite food
Favourite colour

and so and so on - very "tedious" I would think

I wish...

the helpful ladies I've come to "know" in this forum -- and there are a lot of you -- never stop posting, even though some might misconstrue their "Not-A-Fitness-DVD-Star maunderings" as being a know-it-all. I've learned as much from these posters as Cathe herself.

that old and new members find a truce (sorry, can't find a better word; English ain't my first tongue) -- an effective way to use this forum -- so that we can all converse in a manner that doesn't ruffle any feathers. Granted that that may be impossible... in a manner that ruffles the least number of feathers?

that Cathe would post an FAQ page so no one would have to ask her one more time about what kind of diet she follows (we know she'll never say and we know why), what supplements she takes, and what personal products she uses

that A-Jock gets new shoes, and soon, before she morphs into Smeagol and starts hobbling around on both hands and feet

that one day I'll wake up with bionic knees

...maybe not...

Marla, no offense taken.:)

I've asked many questions in Open Discussion before, and was grateful to get different answers because, to me, that means different options. There are many schools of thought in fitness and I've learned that it's all a matter of finding out which methods are best for me.

NOW that's a good suggestion. It would certainly free up the board of repetative questions

I like it! I like it!

A FAQ page would be fantastic! Not only for Cathe to post on but also for others who have put together some very valuable information, like the Cathe Guide and the list of Cathe rotations that could be stickied there. Also, since the number one question newbies ask is "Where do I get started?" that type of info could be posted there. It would save everyone from having to answer a lot of repetitive questions.

I'll third (or fourth or fifth) the idea of a Cathe FAQ page...now who's going to be brave enough to head over to the "Ask Cathe" forum and post "Cathe, a suggestion for you.."?:)

I skim "Ask Cathe" every few days - I get bogged down by some of the questions that really should be posted elsewhere. A-Jock, your assessment of the questions is too true! Too bad there isn't a moderator who can move some posts to the appropriate forum. And the "Ask Cathe" forum sometimes has a...I dunno, fan club atmosphere?(questions about things in her personal life as opposed to fitness stuff). It's not stuff I'm interested in, so I don't hang there often.

On the other hand, I find all the info I need here and at Video & DVD Questions.

NANCY!!! YES I'M SHOUTING! WITH JOY! FINALLY SOMEONE (OTHER THAN Q-JOCK, KATHRYN, DEBBIEH & MYSELF! sarcastic humor here) WITH SOME SENSE!

everytime I see someone reading into that request from Cathe, i just get so rolling my eyes. Cathe has NEVER NEVER NEVER said that others could not respond to those questions.

A-Jock,

If I could quote 2 here, I would quote yours. PEOPLE USE THE FREAKIN' SEARCH FEATURE. I come here to learn things from others. I have gotten sick & tired of reading the same question over & over & over again!

Sorry just how I feel & I know people are tired of me being so honest about how I feel. Too bad--that's what a public forum is all about!

FAQ would be awesome...here's another question I get tired of reading in the subject line

"Does the weight include the weight of the bar?"

If we had a FAQ page, we wouldn't have these types of questions tieing tying? how the hell do you spell that up the board.

AJOCK

PLEASE don't ever stop posting, anywhere you darn well please. I always look for your posts, & I know others do too.

I don't think I could stand to lose your evil sense of humor on top of everything else! You just gave me the only good laugh I've had in weeks.

Also, we can always count on any info you post to be true.

AND, if I post on Ask Cathe & NOBODY answers, I'm gonna be pissed!

RE: STARLIGHT6

Ah, Starrynumeral, I could never stop coming here. And in fact about an hour after I said I'd never post on the Ask Cathe forum, I . . . well . . . did. It usually takes me a lot less time to go ahead and do something I said I'd never do again, so an hour is a record of sorts for me.

Although I stand by my alternately wistful and sullen comment on the thread on Ask Cathe that got this whole thing started that the tone and tenor of these forums have changed, I value them too much to let 'em go. Too many nice people HAVE come on here in days and years past to toss out the baby with the bathwater. Sadly, too many nice people like Honeybunch and Getnfit@39 have absented themselves, perhaps for the reasons we're talking about now.

In fact, I remember when Getnfit@39 first made her appearance to my recollection: after having already lost 147 (that is not a typo) pounds, she was desperate because the scale hadn't budged that week. I and the Real Cathe-Ites barraged her with encouragement and, more importantly, information from personal experience and study. And Donna / Getnfit@39 was and is one kick-@&& broad. I miss her.

There are too many people like her, people who want fitness for its own sake and are willing to work for it, people who come here because of that, to walk away from this forum. These are my sisters; they reflect my values, and they take away some of the loneliness of living fitness in an unhealthy society. From that singular bond arise other life issues to discuss.

I may get impatient with narcissistic (sp? it's too late and i'm too bald to care) infomercial-oids who drift over here, but impatience is all I'll ever get, never my walkin' shoes.

Thanks for your kind words!

Oh, and Carla K - do a search under "mish-mosh" for my many sadistic offerings, or have yourself sent a Compendium by Lunacat.

RE: STARLIGHT6

AMEN to your earlier post A-Jock and YummyMummy. I wanted to say those very things but I was not brave enough.

Really, asking Cathe about her hair, her nails....get your own life people!

Oh, was that bad? I'm sorry. Cathe is a kick tail fitness wonder woman. Sure she can be envied but... do your workouts, eat good and be yourself. If you have a serious question, fitness related, ask her. Otherwise, bring it over here.

Okay....flame me...I can take it.....}(

RE: STARLIGHT6

Thank heaven!

It's funny you mentioned Donna, I was just wondering a couple of days ago where she was. And Honeybunch...I've asked several times but nobody seems to know.

If either of you two is lurking, you better COME OUT! We miss you both! I don't care if you haven't done a workout in a year! Come chat!

A-Jock, you're a keeper!

RE: STARLIGHT6

A-Jock,you hqave me laughing out loud uncontrolably...LITERALLY! Thanks so much!

Someone did suggest to Cathe a FAQ section. I love the idea, not because it will answer the repticious questions but because I think it would make for a nice addition to the site and a fun read!

For the record, I will not answer a single question on the "Ask Cathe" again unless the origianl poster is BEGGING for other responses. Even then...I may not want to risk it! Wounds are still salty!
