I will NEVER EVER wear leggings again!

Agree with Laurie, I actually think they look great on the HS crowd - definetely cute for the under 25 age group. Hey they are young and have to have trends!

The style I really like for young and old alike is the low cute long shorts - they hide a multitude of imperfections ;)

But ugh the skinny leg jeans... no way!

I was thinking the same exact thing when I was shopping at the mall yesterday and noticed the awful window displays. I thought Ugggh!! 80's clothing is back?!!!!
I'm with Lauramax on just getting used to the bootcut jean styles and finally liking it.

Heck, I didn't wear leggings when they were *in* in the 80's, why am I going to start now????? My legs are too big to look decent in them!

Now this isn't TOO bad - Madonna has the legs for leggings, too. I could never wear them because I have football player calves. I actually have a pair of bootcut leggings that I got from Chadwicks or someplace like that which are not bad. Too high in the waist, however. I never wear anything tucked in anyway.

Oh that is too funny. The 80's are definetly coming back. I remember scrunchy socks and you wore 2 or 3 pairs that coordinated with your outfit with the big hair and matching scrunchy. I guess the fashion gods have been watching I LOVE THE 80's way too much. }(

I was looking through a Victoria's Secret catalog and thought "OMG! I will NOT wear those again!". As someone else said, been there done that. I did tell my DH to look at what's in store for us this season. I'm thinkin' he thought I said to look at the models, LOL.

I look at that picture of Madonna and I can't help thinking that she's ruining a nice dress by letting her longjohns stick out. }(

Seriously--I don't see what the leggings add to the look. Then there's the comfort factor, especially in the summer. I see a lot of women walking around NYC this summer in the heat with a nice summery dress and spandex leggings. Can you say yeast infection? x(

Hmmm I pretty much think Madonna usually looks like a weirdo in whatever she wears lately...I don't get it. (That's another thread, famous people that are fit/attractive but dress weird...like Madonna with her 5 sizes too big track suits.....the overly trendy hair styles like the 'flip' she's been wearing lately. If that woman would dress for her age she would look so incredible....perhaps Stacey and Clinton could help her.....and Heather Locklear......)

Yes, why in the summer would you ADD more layers?? And they don't do anything or accomplish anything, they are just there, drawing your attention to the 3 inches of leg and odd shoes....

I can totally agree about the 'new' fashions... while shopping with my 16 yr old last night I commented on how the long sweaters and leggings remind me of when I was a teen in the 80's and how fugly they looked - very sloppy looking in my opinion. she laughed and told me she does not care for leggings to wear outside but are good for pjs around the house lol

I was walking around an exclusive shopping center yesterday, looking at stores like Brooks Brothers and Tommy Bahamas cringing at the outfits we adults are supposed to be wearing! Brooks Brothers had hot pink capri's with little green palm trees all over them, topped with a kelly green Izod type polo shirt. My first serious boyfriend's mother wore an outfit like that the first day I met her - except it was hot pink pants with alligators all over them and a real Izod kelly green shirt. Then I noticed the "lovely" patched plaid jacket for men. Oh my... If everyone start wearing their sweaters tied around their necks, and referring to everyone as Muffy and Biff, I'm moving...

Oh, and the baby doll shirts... I took DD17 to a OBGYN appointment a while back and she wore one of those shirts. We were late, so I couldn't have her change before we went... The poor thing - everyone was staring at her thinking she was preggers (no she was not - it was simply time for an annual). I don't think I ever saw her in that outfit again.

I was just getting ready to post this same sentiment!!

PLEASE, PLEASE tell me I can keep wearing my bootlegs!!!! Skinny jeans look good only on a chosen few.

Whats funny is there are some older ladies I know who are just now getting rid of their narrow pants. Now they have to get them back!

I'm not into the leggings or the jeans where they taper tight to the ankles, but I have to say I love the straighter/skinner style cut! I think they look great with a pair of heels or a nice pair of boots. I can't wait to buy a pair and not wear the flares all the time!

okay went to the fair today and saw Madonna's Like a Virgin look back in full force, luckily it was on a teenager but my oh my, remember the Madonna look?

;(

I still wear leggings...as pjs in the winter!

And I actually liked the leggings and long tunic top look when it was in (my calves are so big, the leggings made my upper leg look slimmer in comparison!)

One 'look' I hope never comes back: does anyone remember the fad a few years ago of wearing long underwear bottoms under dresses and skirts? Or was that just a college campus attrocity? (really 'long underwear" looking ones, too, with waffle-weave texture and little flowers on).

When I was in college, the thing was to wear big sweatshirts - INSIDE OUT. My mom would flip out that I went to school in what she thought were pajamas. Of course back then I was in denial but clearly I was totally in to wearing big sweatshirts to cover up my expanding Freshman 25!!!! LOL

What blows my mind about some of the things coming back 'in' are - you'd think they'd be new and improved, or at least listening to the whole What Not To Wear approach of things that are universally flattering and things that are universally un-flattering. We finally got a point where jeans/pants with the fabulous pointed toe heels or boots just look so sharp ~ then BOOM the new trends are skinny pants which look good on NO ONE and big clunky shoes that again might be more comfortable but......

ugh!!
I tend to now (perhaps cuz I'm "Older" at 37) stick with the classics. If that "no eyebrow" look comes in again (remember Madonna like shaved hers off and drew on Marlene Dietrich brows....again the trends that are universally unflattering...) there is NO WAY I will go there. Or pleated pants!!!

Don't get me started on these 'baby doll dresses' - what's THAT all about?? Why would I want to look like a baby doll??

;-)

Remember how our socks MATCHED our tops and just to prove it, we maybe pinned our jeans or folded them so we could wear our socks outside of our jeans! Socks came in every color and everytime you bought a shirt, you needed to buy matching socks!:) :) :)

OMG - did you all used to like fold over the bottom the part of your jeans, then roll them up so they'd be tapered?? ewww!! We did this with khakis or baggy pants too!! My one friend had all her Gap jeans TAILORED to they were skin tight and tapered to her ankle....

Yea socks were big back then; even in aerobics, the older videos they'd wear like 2-3 pair layered; 'squishy socks' LOL
