I think I'm a runner now!

I think I qualify as a runner now!! The bug has bit me hard :) I started running maybe 2 Springs ago, not because I enjoyed it, but because it was hard, and it was something I felt like I should enjoy, and needed to do. And never added really any distance or felt like I wanted to add on as I was going. It was ok, but not on my top 10 list of exercise activities. I stopped maybe in Nov, after a bout w/ PF and then the weather got cooler and rainy, and gave me my excuse not to do it :p I picked it back up maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago, after SIL talked me into a 19k in April. And I am enjoying every minute of every run. Ok, well maybe not the first few mins, but after that s'all good. I seem to have found my beat, my rhythm my pace and life is good. I knew today was going to be cold, and yesterday I had a jones for a run, but it was leg day, so I did that. Figured I'd do RS today so I could stay in where its warm, but NO, I just had to go for a run, couldn't shake it. So, out of my warm bed an flannel jammies into the 9 degree weather I go. And hell, besides some cold toes, I enjoyed it!!! Only did 3.3 miles, because it was so cold, but I loved it. I wanted to go farther, but common sense brought me back in. Hell, if I had any common sense, I wouldn't have been out there in the 1st place:p;) Last weekend I was out as well, had my run mapped out in my head, and ended up tacking on an extra mile or so. It felt good, and I wanted to keep going.

I have been bit by the bug, and I am lovin' it. I may not go as far or as fast as the rest of you runners, but I am calling myself one of you now!!!! Look out world, here comes Nan!!! (even if I am bringing up the back of the pack)

I'm still trying to figure out where running fits in my week w/ the other cardio I enjoy. Will have to work on that.

Nan

Your enthusiasm was *almost* enough to get me to run and then I remembered how much I hate running! Seriously though, congrats on finding your rhythm. Perhaps you will be joining the other crazies who will be running the Flying Pig marathon this year :p

Run Nan Run!!!

I feel the same way you did and now do about running. In the beginning I had a hate/love/hate relationship with it and now it's pure love. When I get out of bed at 4am on the weekend to get to a race or run when it's 110 degrees outside, I figure I'm a runner.

Good Luck on your 19K!!!

Good for you. I was wondering where they are putting on a 19K race - I've never seen one of those before! :)

10k is a great distance to shoot for. Come check in with the new runners and tell us how it is going.

Well, lets think about this, a marathon is 40k right? So 19 is a little less than a half ?

Btw, Cindi, I knew you was a runner, the cool part is, now you know too!

You rock, Nan! I think it is VERY cool that you have found something which you love! :) Run on my friend! :)

Your post has me all excited about running again!! I just started last spring but haven't gone out since late October. I'm still SO pathetic, but you have filled me with hope that I, too, will find my pace. OH BOY!!! Thank you, Nan, and congratulations!!!

YES! Beavs, you should come to the Flying Pig!!! :D

Nan, welcome to the running club - ain't it grand when it finally all "clicks" and you feel the pull to run.

I was also wondering where one would find a 19k race. ;) I've seen some odd distances (the Shamrock Shuffle in Chicago is 8k, for example), so frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if there was a 19k somewhere out there. lol!

Congratulations Nan! I know how you feel! I was never able to run - my lungs hated me when I tried and I just quit trying to run until last year. With Cardio Coach and the Couch to 5K program in hand (in iPod?), I was able to tackle my worst acitivity!

I consider myself a runner now too! So, welcome to the club! The more, the merrier! :D

Now, how about a pair of Vibram Five Finger shoes? ;)

Whoo hoo!!! Good for you! Don't you just love that feeling you get after that first mile when you are just cruisin through and not hating it anymore. I esp love the feeling of when I'm done. I've learned to give myself credit for every run no matter how small mostly just have fun.
