I think Bare Minerals is ruining my face!

I wanted to try a new foundation, so I figured I'd give Bare Minerals a try. I've been using it for about 2 months and I've got wrinkles that I never had before!

Has anyone else had a bad experience with this stuff?

I used it a while back and felt that it was making my skin break out like crazy. I have a spot that I would use the Bisque concealer on almost daily and there was a constant pimple in that same area. I stopped using it, got suckered back in a few months ago, and had the same problem!

I know a lot of people really love it, but I haven't had a good experience, either!

I tried it too and hated the way my face looked. First of all, it showed pores on my face that I didn't even know I had, lol. My face felt dry and had a "powdered" look. However, I wasn't really used to wearing any face makeup before so I really don't have a comparison.

In any event, I sent it all back for a refund. I didn't like it at all!!! I'm back to my au natural self and should probably start looking elsewhere. I think the time has come for SOMETHING to put on my face. I don't even wear blush. Just a little Oil of Olay, mascara, lipstick, and I'm off and running. I just can't get used to it.x(

I have found that if I use BM around the eyes it gets dry and looks like a desert. It didn't cause my wrinkles but it certainly accentuates them. So I use a light dusting of it and do not use it around my eyes and it works fine.

I'm just curious, were you applying moisturizer and eye cream prior to applying the Bare Minerals? I also find that it does exaggerate the pores on my nose so I use a cosmetic sponge to blend it in.

I love BM for their eye and cheek colors, but I use Everyday Minerals for my foundation and I absoloutely love it. They have 3 or 4 formulas to choose from and you can try out a sample kit for free. It says only one, but they let me and I've read many others have too, keep ordering sample colors and formula's until I found the right formula/color for my skin. I'm very oily and I felt like BM looked good when I first put it on, but a couple of hours later, I was unhappy and yes, my pores looked huge also! If you are interested here is the link:

Donna - I use BM, but I have to keep my face really hydrated. If my skin is dry at all, it looks horrible! The bare minerals are kind of dry anyways and add them to a dry face and they settle into every crevice etc... I agree with the other poster too. I really do not like to use too much around my eyes. If I need coverage there for dark circles, I usually use something else.

Have you tried Glo Minerals? I prefer the texture of the product over Bare Minerals. It feels more moisturizing. They also have liquid foundation as well. The product line is available at Day Spas and is suppose to be more skincare oriented .There is also the benefit that it is suppose to photograph well. Some mineral make up can look pasty in photos.THe powder foundation is available pressed as well and the eye and cheek colors are beautiful and pressed as well.Even cream blush if you prefer. They also make a retinol product called Glo serum that is amazing for refining your skin.

Yes, I moisturize a lot. Dryness is not the issue - it just looks awful around my eyes. I guess I'll just keep it away from my eye area until I've used it all up and then find a new foundation.

Donna, I don't know how old you are, but I can tell you as I get older (I'm almost 41), I've noticed anything around the eyes eventually gets that cracked dried out look no matter what I do. I do have some fine lines under my eyes, but no major wrinkles. But any product there seems to make me look 10 years older!!! So I just don't put anything under my eyes except for moisturizer.

I was thinking about maybe switching to a tinted moisturizer - Oil of Olay has one that's supposed to be nice. I get some pretty dark circles under my eyes - so I definitely need concealer there.

I was also looking at the Era foundation (the spray on stuff that Carmindy on What Not to Wear uses). But it's $55! That's insane, don't you think? Only if I got at least 4 months out of it could I justify spending that on foundation. Especially since my complexion is really pretty good, except for the dark circles.

Thanks!

I just tried a tinted moisturizer from Neutrogena and absolutely LOVE it! In fact, I like it better than my usual Clinique foundation!

The best concealer I have ever used is my Bobby Brown. It is really creamy, cover all the dark circles and never looks dry so it really doesn't get in the creases or wrinkles of the eyes.

I just started using Bare Minerals so I don't know if I will have any problems with it yet. I did hear that lots of people have reactions to it and the cornstarch based mineral veil can make an acne problem worse, but I am a sucker for infomercials/QVC so I decided to give it a try. Now, I am anxious to see what will happen after reading this thread!!You might want to try the new L'oreal mineral foundation. I heard that one is actually pretty good.

LD-What concealer do you use from Bobby Brown as I too have major raccoon issues?

Laura Mercier has a tinted moisturizer that is great! I hate BM too, it does make your pores look huge and it since I live in the desert, it is too drying!
I have a horrible time with concealer under my own racoon eyes, it just makes you look more wrinkled, I use eye cream there and that is it!

It is 2 parts. The first is called a corrector and I think that is what covers the dark circles so well. The concealer part is just called creamy concealer and it is matched to your foundation. I am telling you it really is creamy.
