Hi Everyone,

Sunday was 'race day' and I completed my first 5k (for Cancer Research) and raised £400!

I'll admit it wasn't my best run (didn't feel that energetic at all) - but despite having to walk up a hill, I completed it in 34 minutes!

Not a brilliant time (in the grand scheme of things) but a PB for me - especially as I walked up the hill!

Way-to-go me :) :) :)

That's great, Andrea! Congratulations on raising such a substantial amount of money. So, when's your next 5K? (They are addictive, you know;) )

Andrea...that is great!!! Raising the money for a cause is the way to go...Shelley is right...these runs can become addicting!!! http://bestsmileys.com/signs16/19.gif[/img]...Carole

Andrea, that is awesome. I just ran a 5K on Saturday, May 7 and my time was 34 minutes too! I was running with a super fit friend and she was talking the entire time without being winded. I think she sped me up, and I slowed her down. :)

They can become quite addictive. That was my 3rd race since April, and I have only been running for about a year. I am currently signed up for a 10K on June 26. I already sent my registration in so there is no turning back. :)

Great job Andrea!!

Awesome Job!!

I am battling nervousness over my first race ever, a 10K in two weeks. I normally run inside on a cushioned track, so you can imagine my surprise yesterday running outside for the first time in warmer than I am used to temperatures! The self doubt is starting to set in already:(

Andrea, were you nervous at all? If so, how did you overcome your anxiety?

Awesome! My congratulations to you. I just wished you lived closer & I could meet you at Cathe's latest road trip. ARRRGGGHHH!

Smoogy: I wish I lived closer too so I could meet all of you. Although these forums tend to close the gap between our countries, it would still be nice to meet everyone!

Broyles60: Strangely enough, I wasn't that nervous before the race but the adrenalyn kicked in as I went over the 'start' line. After that it was just a case of completing the race and the relief of finishing. I'm sure you'll be fine if you've put in the necessary training but Good Luck anyway!

Thanks to everyone for your kind words and support!

Andrea
