I Ran a Marathon!

Cathe, I finished a marathon! I wasn't even training for it--I've never even raced before. I was the first leg (7 miles) of a relay team, and I wanted to see how far I could go (without risking injury). I made it the whole way to the finish line! I ran my 7 mile leg in 62 minutes (a personal best), and then slowed down and finished the entire marathon in 5 hours 8 minutes.

I'm submitting this as a STS Success Story, because I give you, your workouts, and STS the credit. I finished my 3 1/2 month STS Strength/Cardio rotation on May 1. I incorporated one long run (either 7 or 10 miles) each week. I did 2 runs the last week of STS, 3 runs and Hiit Pyramid the next week, and 2 slow runs the week of the Marathon. My legs were strong (thank you, Plyo Legs), my core was strong, my posture was great, my arm swing gave me power, my endurance was there. I think the variety of the complete STS System gave me everything I needed to finish without any pain, because everything was strong and in balance. I had strength, and I had endurance. I wasn't even sore afterward--stiff, but not sore. I was totally amazed, but glad for the ability that your workouts, and STS in particular, have given me.

It was a fabulous experience. Thanks, Cathe!

Wow, what an amazing story! I totally agree that STS does wonders. How excited you must be to have accomplished such a feat! Goooo Elsie!!! (I dream of doing a marathon some day or possibly just a half!)

I, too, always dreamed of doing a marathon. But I never really thought I would--or could. If I can, you can! I'm already planning for next year: STS in the fall, and then an 18 week marathon training schedule. We can do it--with Cathe's help, of course.
